  1. Personally- it was not that I purposely avoided big guys. It's just that my own attraction and sense of what is appealing went toward tall skinny guys. The skinnier the better. I had no use for muscle men either. I even married a tall skinny guy. We 'work' (physically speaking) because he likes a girl with a little meat on the bones. I don't know if you'll get a clear answer on this. Everyone likes what they like.
  2. Awwww, I feel for ya, sugar pants!!! After the "honeymoon" was over- my old demons reared their ugly heads and we've been in a battle ever since. I started at 349. I'm now at 248 and have been there for months and months. I exercise like a fool. I use My fitness pal to track food. Right now, that's all just keeping me where I am. It's a war, honey. Fight it. Win it. No one can do it for you, and no one can do it for me. I'm in this trench and only I can get me out. That's what I had to realize. I hope you find your inspiration and motivation to push through. Only you can find what that is. Hugs to you.
  3. I didn't tell anyone but a very close circle of friends. I went to Texas, and STILL didn't want to tell anyone. People think this is the "easy" way out, when in reality there is nothing easy about it. Do what you have to. Keep the negativity out of your situation however you have to.
  4. HIDE THE SCALE!!!!!!! It's not a stall in the sense that you are not progressing. Ignore it. If you are following directions, then do NOT change what you are doing. It will all happen like it's supposed to, I promise. Stop weighing yourself. I know it's exciting and you like to see the numbers plummet, but one tends to freak when it stops for a bit. Just keep swimming, Just keep swimming..... Your body is just doing what it needs to do.
  5. I was NOT allowed to use my teeth at two weeks. No way. Every doc is different though.
  6. I felt that way too. I'm at 14 months and just had my "one year" visit at the surgeon's office. I CAN hold 8 oz now, but they told me that doesn't mean I SHOULD. They said to keep my portions at 4 oz and my calories at 800 to 900. I said "but I'll die!" She said "no you won't." So, there you have it. I had to do a bit of a redirect. :/ Now i'm trying not to die.
  7. HAHAHA He gave you the serious face now!!!
  8. My cardiologist put me on Pea Protein by SunWarrior. It's the "Warrior Blend" plant based protein. It's not delicious per se, but if I do protein shakes, it's usually not for taste or meal replacement, but energy for workout or just trying to keep my protein levels up. (which usually means i'm not eating quite right. ) Those shots are horrible. It's like drinking syrup and like OTR said- garbage.
  9. Holy cow, this thread is STILL going????? LOL
  10. BEWARE: Fats will trigger an attack in a heartbeat!! Even the smallest amount, depending on how far along the gallbladder is in its failing. Its more likely that it was whatever else was IN the mocha, not the necessarily the caffeine, but obviously, avoid ANYthing that he said could trigger it. It's a pain worse than childbirth with no drugs!!! I hope you get it fixed quickly.
  11. Hey Tiffany- I live in New Mexico right now, and our house is for sale. As soon as it sells, we'll be buying a house in Safety Harbor, and my husband will be working actually IN Tampa. So you all will be in MY neck of the woods soon getting your sleeves! Prayers for you all! I have been sleeved for 14 months.
  12. I'll be moving to Tampa soon. I know that's not exactly south, but i'd be willing to be a help to anyone in the area that wants to meet up.
  13. I did it, and I don't regret it for a minute. Made myself a little sick, so it was a good reminder as to why I was about to have the surgery.
  14. I noticed a period of hair regrowth, and then it started falling out again. A LOT. Then I put it together- I quit taking my high powered vitamins and my protein intake fell off right before the hair loss accelerated again. I'm trying to keep up with both now to see if regrowth starts again soon. Kind of an experiment. I'll let you know what happens....
  15. I was told NOT to take them. HOWEVER...when a problem arises somewhere in my body that desperately calls for ibuprofen...I call the office and they say to take ONE maybe once or twice and that's IT. As little as possible. Their general position though, is no. So...somewhere in between. Steroids are a big NOOOOO as well. I have two docs on that one. :/
  16. Ya. Even paying cash i had to do the cardiologist clearance. I still see him. He likes to keep track of me even though i've never had heart issues. It'll all be over before you know it!
  17. Well poopies. Thanks all. I was hoping. Oh well! I have tried the pressure point wrist bands and they really do help. I might look up the other deal too. Thanks for the info!
  18. Ok, all you sea-faring sleevers- I'm the queen of queazy here, and I have not been on a ship since getting sleeved. So- my question is: Does the sleeve (a.k.a. "smaller stomach") mean LESS sea-sickness, or is there no change because it's an inner ear thing, or what's the scoop? I get all kinds of motion sick- airplane, car, small boat, big ship- you name it. Capt. Derel, I hope you see this! What are your best tips to avoid getting green on the high seas? (Do I write for a tabloid or something? WTH?)
  19. I feel like i was more disloyal to myself by getting to 349 lbs. I now feel like I'm coming "back to me." I'm feeling like my old self and saying "sorry i let you get like that!"
  20. If you can't choke down the protein drinks then be SURE to EAT protein before you eat anything else. This is vital to your energy level. Get some protein bars too. Look for "Think Thin" protein bars. They taste good and will not kill you on calories and fat and carbs. Lots of protein in them. Snack on beef jerky. Have tuna for lunch, eggs for breakfast and a try some grilled chicken on a salad at night. cottage cheese and fruit for an evening snack. Get that protein in anywhere you can. If you have yogurt, have Greek yogurt, as it is higher in protein. Yoplait makes a 100 calorie Greek. Very good. I'm cold too. I'm sitting here right now just freezing solid!!! VEry weird for me.
  21. I have not tracked or logged my food in a looooong long time. I probably should, but I'm guessing I'm over 1000 calories a day. Which I know is why my loss has slowed so dramatically. I just get so hungry! I AM trying to keep up with the exercise, as that seems to be what keeps me moving downward. I'm finding myself fighting some old habits and mindsets. This is where the battle really begins for permanent lifestyle change. :s I've gotten bored with my good routine, but i need to get back to it.
  22. If you're short on Protein at first, don't worry. The most important thing is the other fluids. Very very important. And the walking. Keep walking and drinking. When you're REALLY sick of walking and drinking....do it some more. (you too, Mokee!!)
  23. Down 100 lbs. Size 3 and 4X- down, so far, to 18W comfortably, but a 16W can button and zip and XL tops. I'd like to lose 90 more, but if I lost 50 more and never another pound, i'd probably be very content. But I want the 90! i'm at 249 and i'd like to see 160. It IS getting harder and harder. I can eat way too much when I want to. I wanted Capt. D's problem!!
  24. Did you feel weak and clammy and run to the bathroom? Headache and wanting to throw up but can't? I've had a dumping-like reaction when I've taken in food that is too rich, too much of it, and have eaten it too fast. It even happened with a Protein shake that I put some Peanut Butter in during the early weeks. It's no fun. Even if sugar free, if it's got too much fat, it can happen. I suppose too starchy can do it too.
