  1. Ya, you had me going until I saw "mounted over the fireplace."
  2. Oooohhhhh yeeeeaahhh...If ANYone can figure out how to fit some dense calories and fat into a tiny sleeve, it would be me, and I know this about myself, so the key will be continuing to look at this surgery as a permanent lifestyle change. Not "ok, I lost my weight, so I can go back to eating like I want." Uh uh!!! NOt gonna happen. Those delicious tidbits will have to be taken in very limited amounts and times after goal is reached. Exercise has to remain a permanent part of this new lifestyle as well. It's a whole new mindset. It has to be.
  3. I would not recommend TRUE "sweet tea." You don't want to get in a habit of drinking your calories, but tea sweetened with something non-caloric, sure go for it! Truvia and other stevia based sweeteners are the safest from what I can tell. Stay AWAY from agave. (You'd be better off with regular sugar!) But you're an adult, so obviously you can choose your own sweetener LOL
  4. It's funny you say that, because any surgery I've ever had, the LAST thing I remember is: "Hi, my name is "Dr. so and so, and I'll be administering your anesthesia today...." Then I wake up in my room. I don't even ever remember the recovery room.
  5. ME TOO! ME TOO! ME TOOOOOO!!!!! Official goal is 160, but I'd LOOOOVE to see 140!
  6. Do what makes YOU happy. I don't think your health is in jeopardy anymore, especially considering your activity level. Go with your gut. You look beautiful!
  7. I've always experienced a sharp pain in that same location since surgery, and sometimes I feel like what you said "something rolls." it's like a little trapped gas bubble, because after the roll, i burp a little then I feel better. Sometimes it takes a few days to get it out. it's really weird. I don't know if that is what you are having, but it's possible.
  8. I was the opposite. I just assumed It would be horrible and I would get a leak and not lose weight and never be able to eat anything again. Isn't that awful???? My comfort came, primarily from my faith (but that's a different thread;) ) and secondly from knowing I picked the best surgeon I could find. Surgery and recovery is no bed of roses, but it's certainly not the worst thing I've ever been through. After that first couple of weeks...life has just been outstandingly wonderful!! I do not regret even a SECOND of the discomfort. I'd do it all again no problem. (glad I won't have to though!)

Oohhh ya. The ability to eat anything ("normally" speaking) comes back over time. Some people continue to have some trouble with certain foods. I do not have trouble with ANY foods. Everything seems more drastic and or dramatic than it is during the whole healing process, but life returns to normal (a NEW normal) eventually. It's awesome!
  10. I'm SO glad to hear someone post op reporting feeling GOOD!!! That's great!! I think lots of us have good post op experiences, but never really report in, because.... we just don't think about it- because it's going well! Congrats!!
  11. OH OH!! And how about not having to worry about which bathroom stall you go into?? And and when you're sitting on a chair and you drop something...you can reach down and PICK IT UP?!? Isn't it fun?? And being able to rinse in the shower without the detachable shower head? i could go on and on.....
  12. Good going!!! Keep it up!!!
  13. I probably won't either, but I'm sure as heck gonna try!!
  14. Oh, I most definitely get hungry. I get kinda ravenous sometimes even. Thankfully though, once I get something to eat, even a little...I'm ok. But I do get hungry and that happened after just a few weeks for me. Nothing like I USED to get, however. And it took a LOT more to fill me up.
  15. I was not ever going to do RNY because the thought freaked me out a little, so when I read about the sleeve, I KNEW it was for me. One reason I would never have done RNY was because of all the people that I have either personally known, or seen in the media that have regained their weight because they stretched it back out. I can't speak to any insurance matters, because I paid out of pocket, but for me...VSG was the only way to go. My BMI was 55 when I started. Maybe even 56. I think it's in the lower 40s now and still going. Good providence with your decision....
  16. My husband has been getting all jacked up over my shrinking booty!! Can't keep him off of me...I love it!! We're like a coupla teenagers or something! I think a lot of it has to do with my attitude and confidence as well.
  17. I wish I could watch the Olympics while I'm at the gym all year!! When the swimming is on, I start cranking on that elliptical, I dunno, to help them swim faster or something?? Either way, it gets me going! Then watching the beach volleyball, I think "MAN, I want a stomach like that! Think I'll go over here and do some more ab work..." Cycling- same thing. I start running on that elliptical to help 'em out. Love it. GO USA!!!
  18. I started really exercising when I made my surgery appt (3 months prior). I really wanted a headstart on the whole process. So...after surgery, i started walking from day 1 also, and increased walking as much as possible until I was released for full workouts at....6 weeks? I continued going to the gym for the first six weeks and just walked slowly on the treadmill 3 days a week, and the other days, I walked around my cul de sac a couple times a day. Now I go five days a week and do an hour on the elliptical. (about 4.5 miles). Do as much as you can as soon as you can within your doctor's recommendations for safety in the early weeks. Then hit it hard!! This is your time. Do it!!
  19. Good job!!! Now go take a walk....
  20. powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury has an unflavored protein that people love to put in juice and Soups. It has LOTS of protein.
  21. Wow, that seems a bit of an aggressive diet for 5 weeks out. At 5 weeks I was finishing up "blenderized" foods and moving into "soft foods." No chicken or meats or breads or whole or especially raw veggies or anything like that. That could be part of the problem. Your stomach may not be ready for that. Just putting that out there...
  22. Hmm. Did your doc say your bloodwork shows that you still need to take them? Your stomach is a bit more sensitive after surgery, so you may have to alter the type you take or check with your doc and see if you need them at all. They should have done a bloodwork panel and gone over it with you as to what supplements you need. I'd check with him about it for sure. Be sure you're taking your prilosec or what was recommended also.
  23. Ya, I've been told to aim for 800 calories and stay there until i'm done losing. If I go over that for more than a few days, the train pulls right into the station. Doesn't take me long to eat, either. I have to be careful.
  24. I have a 12 year old son that is verging on more than just a weight problem. This hits home.
