How Many Calories/exercise Are You Getting?
Almost 6 months out, and I always shoot for 800 calories (sometimes I miss the shot and hit 900;) ) and I usually burn between 450- 550 calories 5 days/week. I use the elliptical for an hour M-F. dooter69 on MFP

Very Odd
It's almost like dumping. We're not technically supposed to experience dumping syndrome, but we do after a fashion. I've done it myself. Something with too much sugar or too much fat, or eaten to fast, or a combination of those will cause it. You feel like you want to barf, but don't usually, but usually will end up running to the bathroom with the runs, sweaty feeling, like you said... very unpleasant.

A restaurant like that would get all of my eating out dollars!

Small Portions At Restaurants
The trick is stopping yourself at 800 or 900 calories. Don't eat all you can hold. Aim for half cup meals.

Carbonated Beverage 10 Weeks Out
LOL This is the biggest can of worms you can open on this forum! Be prepared for a lengthy, heated thread. Every doc is different. My doc said NO CARBONATION forever and ever, so I will not ever have it. Go by whatever your doc says you can or can't do and follow his instructions to the letter. That's all I've got to say about that.

Anyone Have A Relatively Easy Recovery Story?
I expected all the worst, and got all the best! The first 24 hrs. after surgery was rough because I was STRICT NPO, not even a single ice chip! That made me gag a few times. After that it was all uphill. They want us to sip an oz. of Fluid every 15 minutes after that first 24 hrs. Well, in a couple of days I was doing FOUR oz. every 15 minutes, and my pain was well managed by the meds prescribed. (I had a pretty good sized hernia repaired, so that caused some discomfort.) My healing progressed in a textbook fashion and I've not had a single complication (Thank you GOD!!) And I can eat any and all foods without problem or pain, and I've not thrown up once since surgery, and I've never "slimed." This could not have gone any better. I'm just amazed every day. I've lost almost 85 lbs. since February. I've got absolutely nothing to complain about. One thing I've noticed around here- aside from the "NSVs" we never really report when we "feel good." It doesn't seem that interesting or require a response. Most people post when there is trouble, or can wear a smaller size pants. We just don't think to say, "hey, by the way, I had a really non-complicated surgery." And maybe we should, just so all you noobs can see that it's not just doom and gloom in your future. I think there are a great number of us who had a terrific experience. Hopefully you'll hear from more....

Restaurant Booth Nsv (Pic)
This must be the night for "Booth or Table" NSVs!! Hooray!! 7 months ago, I went to this pizza place here in Albuquerque, and the only place to sit was a teeny tiny booth for 2. I reluctantly sat there with my husband, and I had to SQUUUEEEEEEZE myself into it, and then it was hard to eat because the table was pressing me in half and I was hanging out in the aisle. I cried in frustration and embarrassment. I told him at the time I was going to come back in six months and make that booth my B***H!! Well, here's my B***H: Take THAT booth!!

Dealing With Knee Inflammation- Any Suggestions?
It's actually more when I bend it when I have the problem. I can only bend it to a certain point, then it hurts really bad, so swimming and biking and even pulling my leg up to get under the sheet at night hurts. I never had knee problems until January.

Increase In Migraines- Is It Surgery, Or Is It Me?
Since surgery in February, I've experienced a marked increase in my migraine activity. I was down to about one or two a year, and since surgery, I've had 5 or 6. I have one right now, which is what made me remember to ask. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm wondering if it's surgery related, or just me. I know this isn't a very scientific method of getting a true answer, but I'm just wondering what, if anything, you all have experienced.

The First Few Days
A lot of people cannot tolerate just plain old water, sometimes for a few months. That's fairly normal. I'm still trying to get down more plain water, even at 5 1/2 months. BLECH. I have to be REALLY thirsty Just keep up on other liquids. And Protein drinks count!

I'm Not Proud But...
I just did that yesterday! I tried some hummus, applesauce, a very healthy 21 grain bread square, a piece of hamburger, and a small spoonful of pineapple sorbet...then I was full! I did a quick add of calories on My Fitness Pal, and that was that! I thought it was a pretty sweet deal!
