  1. Hi Andkel! How's everything going? Yes, I've already had a few incidences of people trying to sabotage me, or expressing jealousy. One girl even told me, "The more weight you lose, the more I'm gonna hate you". I didn't know how to respond. She said it in a joking way, but I know there was some honesty in the comment.
  2. I am six weeks out, and I used to have a glass of wine daily, mixed drinks sometimes on weekends. I stopped drinking when I started my pre-op diet, and last weekend I had my first drink(s) since surgery. I really don't have as much of a desire to drink as I did before, and I can nurse one drink for most of the evening, as opposed to having several drinks in a sitting pre-surgery.
  3. It probably would be best to go ahead and give up smoking. Since you are starting a new life, now is the best time to commit to better health in general.
  4. Raising Cane's only has fried chicken strips and french fries. That pretty much is the extent of their menu. They don't even have grilled chicken. Just fried stuff.
  5. Thanks guys, normally I would have just gone on my way and eaten elsewhere, but we were driving out on a day trip and I was riding in her car, so basically at that point I didn't have much choice. It won't happen again, though. I should have taken some snacks that I could eat with me.
  6. I've noticed something when I go out to eat with my friends now since I've had surgery. They really pay attention to the amount of food that I eat, and then they try to eat a small amount of their food also. Or they ask me what I'm ordering and they get the same thing. I don't like all the attention being placed on what I'm eating or not eating. I just like to enjoy being out and socializing. I have one friend in particular that I was hanging out with yesterday who knows that I recently had WLS, but insisted that she wanted to eat at Raising Cane's, which has absolutely nothing that I can eat, even though she had just eaten there the day before. I told her I couldn't eat there, and then I told her what places I could eat, and she says those are all sit-down restaurants, and she doesn't want to go to a sit-down restaurant. I was pissed, I sometimes can't believe the level of her selfishness. I mean, is it wrong for me to ask that we go somewhere that we BOTH can enjoy????
  7. I'm at about 5 weeks, I can eat tuna, but only as tuna salad with a lot of mayo. I haven't even attempted any red meat yet, I haven't gotten to that phase in my diet plan.
  8. I love pretty colored maxi dresses, which I wear now, but I think they will look so much better on me when I reach my goal weight. And I will love to wear jeans with a belt and a t-shirt without a pooch sticking out.
  9. Sending prayers and positive, loving thoughts her way.
  10. I had Jimmy Johns last year, and I swore I would never eat it again after the stomach problems that I had. I had no idea that it was just the onions. I MIGHT try it again without the onions and see what happens.
  11. Oh wow, congratulations on your pre-surgery loss and on your surgery. Fatigue after the surgery is common - I was going full speed right after my surgery and then a few days later I hit a brick wall, and even putting on my socks and shoes made me want to take a nap. Just make sure you get in your liquids.
  12. Hi Andkel!!! I went to Hospital Mi alone, and I brought my laptop. I didn't lock my belongings up, and there was no problem. I spent a lot of time out of my room visiting with other people, and I was never once worried about my belongings.
  13. I know what you mean, Sabrina, about wanting to chew. Last night I got the Zuppa Toscana soup from Olive Garden and blended it, but they gave me 2 breadsticks with it - omg the smell was amazing. I got weak and I did have 2 bites of the bread, but I chewed it up until it was pulverized before I swallowed. I can't wait to at least go on soft foods so I can chew.
  14. You are definitely gonna need at least the passport card to get back into the US
  15. You should pull up articles about the crime in your area or in the US as a whole. Of course, the news is going to feature all of the negative things, if all they put on the news was positive things, no one would watch. I just went to Tijuana last week and I saw no crime, it was beautiful there.
  16. I just got back home yesterday from my trip for surgery with Dr. Garcia. They are definitely top-notch. When I woke up the next day after surgery, I told them that it didn't feel like I'd had surgery at all, and the internist and Dr. Garcia both said that I didn't look like someone who had just had surgery. LOL. I was running up and down the hallway with my IV and visiting with other people in their rooms.
  17. This shows how much people on this board cares and it really warms my heart.
  18. I am here alone and it doesn't bother me a bit. I've always been the adventurous type though. I did make fast friends with another lady who had her surgery the same day, she brought her daughter to take care of her, but we also have been looking out for each other. I am having a very good and positive experience.
  19. I am thankful for life, and for God giving me so much to be thankful for.
  20. I am in Mexico right now, I just had surgery yesterday with dr Garcia. Everyone has treated me extremely well since I stepped out of the airport. I am feeling really good right now, I don't regret my decision at all, just wish I had done it sooner.
  21. My surgery went off without a hitch yesterday. I actually went in late, so my nerves were a little bad from waiting so long. When I walked into the OR, Dr. Garcia was playing "Work Out" by J Cole, which is my absolute JAM right now, so I knew then that everything would be ok. When I woke up from the anesthesia, I thought for a moment that nothing was done, because I didn't feel anything at all. But then I saw the incisions. So far, so great for my recovery. The staff is wonderful, I just wish that I could have something to drink now, they told me I have to wait for another six hours. Thanks guys so much for your kind thoughts and well wishes, I'm so glad I found this community of caring people.
  22. I'm following this topic because I've only been eating those things for a couple of days and I'm already sick of them.
  23. We'll be looking for those pics!
