  1. I find it so funny how every single day there is a post like this...haven't you read any of the posts on here about not loosing until your first fill? Yes, I just had surgery a week ago and have lost 12 pounds already..but I think it has something to do with water weight. Because before I went into surgery my ankles were HUGE and after having them up for a week, they are back to normal size again...so I really think that most of my weight loss is due to that, and I may even gain some back! I was loosing every day...but I'm on mushies now and it stopped. I know that I may gain now, and I am prepared for that...you should be too! It is a very normal thing as you will read time and time again.
  2. Take it from me, you will always run into some type of problem. It took over a year for me to get banded...Its just a waiting game....waiting and more waiting....just try your best to not get discouraged...you WILL get there. Pretty soon you will be just like me, banded and loosing weight! Good luck!!!
  3. Hey loseit...I know you feel like you can eat again...I do too...but you might not be supposed to yet. Take out your packet from the dietition and read about when you are supposed to be on certain diets...because at 12 days I am thinking you should be on purreed or almost off of it? I just saw my doc today and since I get hunger pains he let me go to purrees early...cuz I am only one week out. I am assuming by next week I will be close to soft foods....so its possible that you are ready but you should double check.
  4. Hey girl, I was banded on the 8th and I'm STARVING. Do you get hunger pains where your stomach just GROWLS? I think you are doing great. Because I only have gotten a little bit of nausea ..and the pain has been getting better. My incisions are healing very well...never bled or anything. I just crave soooo much more than what I'm eating.
  5. Hey there. You have made a great decision! I just had the band put in less than a week ago and I have been loosing weight every single day. I can't believe how fast it is happening- it makes sense though, considering I used to live on pasta and bread and cheese. Now I'm just having liquids and some mushies...since surgery I've lost 11 pounds! You won't regret doing this, good luck and ask me any questions you'd like!

Like I'm sure you've read 1000 times over already in this forum...that is NORMAL...you also loose in different ways...you will be fine...calm down..
  7. That is really awesome, very happy for ya! I was just banded on the 8th..it hasn't even been a week yet but I've lost 6 pounds. I seem to be loosing a pound a day! Just from this intense liquid diet of jello and broth! Pre-surgey I lost also...so far all together I've lost 33 pounds! I too am very happy I did this...although it is a struggle, and I am very sore still. I wonder if you won't even need fills? Some people don't have to I've heard. I hope I don't need to either! lol
  8. My surgeon told me to come in a week after surgery. So I am going to see him on Tuesday of next week which I am glad about. And as far as my scars go, they look really good and they didn't put bandages on them, they put this large over-wrap thing over me to keep everything tight, and told me to leave it on for 2 weeks ..although I can take it off and shower.
  9. I ate chicken nuggets the night before my surgery at 10pm and the doctor said my liver was fine...just don't over do it...I'm doing fine, just had my lapband put in on the 8th.
  10. I just got banded Wednesday...and the first night I spent in the hospital was very sore. They forced me to get up and walk to help with the gas pains...the gas pains went away quickly though...I never even had the shoulder pain! Now I'm home and just hungry. I have to move very slow though to get up and down. Just take it day by day...it just keeps getting better...until then though...I am on the pain meds day and night..
  11. I don't think you should be putting anything on them unless your doctor says its okay. I wasn't told to...and was banded 2 days ago.. and mine look really good like they are already healing up well. So I would def. stop that and talk to your doctor ASAP~!
  12. Oh my god you guys I am soooo not looking forward to this!!!!!!!!!!!! wtf!?!?!?!?!
  13. I have medicaid and my surgeon said that they might try to fight me staying overnight but he requires it...and said I will be. I am very glad about that because I do not feel comfortable having surgery like that and just rushing home asap. I want to be there in case there are any issues. My surgeon said he feels more comfortable having me stay as well...makes me glad that he is so caring and thorough. I love him, he is so sweet!
  14. This is my year too honey good for you and Happy Birthday!!!

ALL exercise DVD's work- you just have to stick with them and do them 4-7 days a week! I don't like Zumba because I can't keep up with the dance moves...its too fast pace for me but if you love to do dance then I'm sure its for you. You just need to find your favorite one. I do Walk Away the Pounds and that's perfect for me! I haven't even had surgery yet and I've lost all kinds of weight from it...and my body has firmed and toned soo much, I get compliments from EVERYBODY and I still haven't had the band! Next week though!!!
  16. For those of you who don't exercise at ALL- no offense but I just don't understand how you can do that. You are loosing this weight, don't you want to tone your body? Aren't you afraid of loose skin? I don't get why you wouldn't want to just move move move it makes you feel soo much better! I haven't even had the surgery yet and I feel amazing. I could not imagine getting into this without the mindset that I have right now and I owe it all to exercising. Seriously!
  17. Mis73 I thought u said in another post that Medicaid wasn't covering it anymore? Now you HAVE Medicare? Hmmmm....anyway, I have Medicaid and live in Connecticut and I had to do the 6 month weigh ins ....all in all everything took me almost a year...I had to do many many tests as well. Dietitian wasn't covered though I had to pay for that. It took less than a week for me to get approved...and I'm now scheduled for February 8th!! But I am glad that it took as long as it did, because it gave me more time to think about this and research and now I'm more ready than I ever was...and have been exercising and lost weight too! !
  18. Hi! My surgery is next week....February 8th...and for the past 4 months I have been doing Walk Away The Pounds with Leslie Sansone and a few other work out DVD's like Jilian Micheals, and Brazil Butt Lift. Mostly I do Walk Away The Pounds though and I love it. I have lost just about 30 pounds doing either 2-5 miles every day. It really motivated me a lot, since I didn't exercise at ALL before this. I look forward to it now, because I feel great during and afterwards. For beginning, this is really perfect...the 1 mile walk would be perfect for you...and its not just walking in place, you do all sorts of other movements...you can look her up on youtube and see for yourself!
  19. Omg thank you Mr. Green for your response. ...I can't even believe someone would be able to do that ...I thought it was physically impossible....now it makes a little more sense as to why people say they don't like the band or it didn't work for them...because they don't do it right.
  20. But has any of you messed up and actually ate regular food after surgery? Or is it impossible? I would be terrified to mess anything up...But I just want to know if anyone has done that!!
  21. I hate zumba. For somebody who can't dance its an awful awful workout. I could not keep up with the moves for one second...I don't understand how all of you big people do it. And I'm not talking about how much you break a sweat, I'm talking about learning the dance moves themselves. I could not do ONE of those moves from the beginning dvd! For me, I get wayy better work outs from Walk Away The Pounds, Brazil Butt Lift and Jillian Michaels. I need an actual work out...not dancing...but hey that's just my preference....so if you're like me and don't like dancing then its NOT for you trust me.
  22. I talked to my doctor about this today and he basically just said if it happens from something other than food getting stuck, that it should be fine and that if they had to they would unfill...you just need to tell your doctor right away of your concern and he will probably give you something...or tell you what to do. I was worried about this as well! Last thing I want is to have the band in me and get violently ill and have my band slip! He assured me its something that rarely happens though.
  23. Yeah Mck xx...that's what I thought! I'm having surgery in a little over 2 weeks and I would know if Medicaid was not going to cover it! Where did you hear that from Mis73? Because unfortunately, your wrong.
  24. Brown Kameleon is right...the pain meds make certain people itch like crazy!
  25. Mis73...Where are you from? I'm in Connecticut and was told over a year ago that my insurance would cover it (medicaid) and then started the 6 month process, have finished everything possible ...even the pre op physical is done. And Medicaid approved me a couple of weeks ago. I have a surgery date on February 8th...so what are you talking about? Is it a different state that doesn't cover it now?
