My Husband Is Really Worried :(
4AM and a full day ahead and whatever sleep I get from here till 6 is what I get. I just can't seem to have a moment free from this being in my head - and my Hubby is really, truly scared. It breaks my heart that I am causing him to worry. Last evening after my nap (I nap now as soon as I get home because I can't sleep at night) I found him sitting beside me on the couch - he had pulled me over to him and was just holding me. I catch him staring at me and he looks so worried. This evening I woke to him asking me to come try some things he made - he spent hours on different types of broth combinations, Jello and Gelatin, sweet and savory. He wants to know if he should get a juicer, and what am I going to replace my wine and soda and coffee with, etc. I feel like the one thing I did not prepare for was my big, strong man to be so scared. I wish I could find a way to approach this that would help him.

Four Months After Gastric Sleeve Surgery - Still Having Nausea And Throwing Up A Lot
I agree. Perhaps follow up with a second opinion and make sure you are not retaining food in your stomach. Keep a really strict food journal, for reference, to make sure you arent developing a food allergy or allergies. Good luck - I am concerned about the nausea part myself!

carnation instant breakfast
The carnation instant breakfasts are good, but there are alot of different ones, and they are not the only nutritional supplements offered by Nestle. The Carnation Essentials Breakfast Originals is the drink lower on protien (5g) higher on carb (27g). It isn't unhealthy in general and for many ould be a good kickstart for the day...just not for VGSers... Carnation Essentuals Breakfast Originals No Sugar Added Ready-to-drink-bottle in Rich chocolate (no other flavors in the ready to mix bottle) have (13g) protien and (16g) carbs. You could add a scoop of

So Many Posts On Nausea! How About Cannibus Tea?
Theophylline is a drug similar in effect to caffene, I hear alot of nuts and d'icians refering to that about herbal tea. You can have your herbal tea - they are wrong. It is found in trace amounts in actual tea. Herbal teas are only going to have the properties of the plants/parts of plants that are in the tea, many herbal teas do not have tea at all. Cannibus tea might actually have a slight appetite stimulant but not anything signifigant I would think. If it is used for nausea you would only have a small amount. The THC - yes it will probably stay in your system for a small amount of time - no more than 30 days. LOL, I know someone out there has at least tried this - I wish they would post.If it works and people would come out and say so that could go along way twords the pharmacopea of plants we have available for this type of surgery. My husband and I were talking to an herbalist friend about the teas we could make from day one and add the supplements to, and get the nutrition and additional positive effects at the same time. Definately be careful with what you consume. Some teas will have unwanted effects, such as diuretics and blood thinning - and alot of them are in the weight loss teas!

Approved For Gastric Sleeve Surgery!
That is great. I did not wait for approval for insureance, but it did take several to finally decide to go through with it. I did not have an approval process but I did have a point that I went and made my first payment to the doctor. 8000$ (UGH!) - Does that count. It made it feel very, very real, lol. I will go on my liquid diet the day after your surgery. I will be following you closely - keep us informed!

When Did You See Impovement On Co-morbid Conditons?
If it is a good course you WANT that knowledge. I used to work with children who were undergoing chemotherapy (taugh art class at the hospital). A couple of the children showed me some techniques they were taught at another hospital, and they worked - and very simple things, you just have to focus.

When Did You See Impovement On Co-morbid Conditons?
I know many people list this information in sucess stories and such, but I was hoping to post a few specific quesions How overweight were you/how old when you developed yor co-morbid conditions? I am thinking most specifically diabetes, but mention anything you encountered. Asthma, inflamation, hypertension, hormone or lympic conditions, skin conditions, infertility, back pain, pain in legs, sleep apnea, etc. When were you able to notice improvement that went from emergent to noticeable, daily consistent improvement? Are you doing better, or did the condition reverse? Feel free to include anything I forgot...

When can i start really working out.
Good basic exercize routine - your first piece of equipment you need is a big mirror so you can see your form. Form is key. CORE - Planks! Start on your knees - you will shake as you do it, set a timer for 65 seconds - it gives u a change to get in position so you do it full minute. Push ups, core ball exercizes - the key is to do several different types of exercize positions, but not everyone every day. except for planks. Start panking with at least 1 days rest in between and no more than 3. Squats are good. If you plan to want to include heavy weights or pull ups, etc. start working on the strength of your grip. You may also want to get the book "yoga for wimps" as a primer. I am big but the one thing I never gave up on is my exercize. Do as much as you can, even if it i just a little. Your core exercizes are foundational. Core refers to the fact that it exercizes, strengthens and PRIMES you central core muscle groups...you use several sets of muscles, and have to fight coordination and balance as you strengthen. These are the muscles that when exercized the will make you seem taller, will make you more balanced and sure footed. The shakes you experience is your muscles and central nervous system relearning to work together again.

Date Set for Gastric Sleeve Surgery & This Is All Starting To Add Up...phew!
Yes, it is to the point that I know I am costing myself years. About 6 months ago, a 37 year old diabetic in anothe office at work died due to diabetic complications. She could have been me - except she weight alot less! A1C in .2+/- of 5.0 for years, fit active, controlled - and then the complications set in. She was dead within 6 months. I was floored, and I felt very small and scared - and wide awake and ready to fight harder - and yet very scared and small...

After Gastric Sleeve Surgery Bucket List
I want to do the things I used to be able to. I will never recover my knee (misdiagnosis of Water on the knee and it was a staph infection that ate my knee cap into the shape of a "c"). I think with proper maintenance I can do lot of it again. I still ride my bike and core train and never gave up on yoga (almost 23 years now) but there is more: Paintball, hinking, wall climbing, MMA. Twister! I can already play a mean game, but it is difficult for people to get around me, lol. I think contact juggling will be easier with slimmer arms. I want my Mom to look at me and not worry. I want my Husband to not wonder how few years we have left. I WANT TO DO A PULL UP!!!!

i'm so sad.
Very generous of you! I started to offer the same, but then I realized the post is almost a month old...hmmmm...maybe an "upsale" post VGS post? Also, may I suggest to everyone to keep an eye on lane bryant and women within for sales? you will be suprised! Much of your wardrobe can be tailored down a size or two as you shrink, at a fraction of the cost of replacing the clothing!

Insurance Fraud?
Look at your itemization for your surgery. Even if you paid a lump sum fee they have to disclose what you are paying for, so they can not come back and say it didn't include this or that. Look it over and see if there is any mention of you paying less due to a co-morbid condition or hernia. Look at the breakdown of what was paid by your insurance. Does it have things on it that show definite double payment? Anest. fees? Hospital room, the pro op tests, etc... If there is any doubt contact your insurance ASAP...

How Did You Choose Your Weight Loss Goal?
I have not set one yet. Not a firm number, not a firm size really. I have a bit of difficulty "seeing" myself past a 16. beyond a 14? lol...but I am trying, because I wonder what I would look like as a 5'10" inch me, just a size 10. Did you go by a desired size? inches? BMI?

Pre-op Party - Has Anyone Had One?
I have had a friend suggest I have a party before surgery. We both know it can be a difficult path, and I could possibly be a long way out from being very social again. Possibly make it the NYE gathering or something. Has anyone done this?
