  1. Has she lost as much weight as you? Guys seem to lose faster then the ladies, and your success on losing more then her may be making her a little jealous....also she probably never thought she had to worry about competition because she thought you were to big for other women to come on to you now, and so now she feels insecure in your relationship. Just a few theory's. good luck!

  2. I had my first drink 3 weeks out. I was at my sisters house, she didn't know about the surgery. She pored me a shot, and I knew if I didn't drink it the questions would start. I got buzzed off of that one shot...but it didn't hurt me. After that I waited a few more months to drink again. It still effects me more now then ever before. I only drink socially, and I am currently 20 pounds from my goal weight...not my surgeons goal which I passed 70 pounds ago, but my own goal. As for cross over addictions, it is very easy to develop them so we all got to watch ourselves! Good luck!

  3. i dont tell anyone for a few reasons.... #1) i dont tell people my personal business. i wouldnt tell them if i was having a hysterectomy, or something like that so why would i tell them im having a sleevectomy?

#2) i dont feel like hearing the negative comments. even though some people may be supportive, i dont really want to take the chance of someone not being supportive. they are still there for the weight loss journey they just dont need to know the nitty gritty details.

i get plenty of support from my hubby and my daughter, i dont need anybody else. im glad that you are happy with your decision though.

  4. Manda,

Some times we have a lot of things piling up on us all at once and it feels so overwhelming that you dont think that you can ever find your way out. I know this feeling and i have had to cope with it in the past. I did go to a psychiatrist for some prescription meds to help me get balanced again. sometimes your chemicals can get a little out of wack, and it doesnt mean there is anything mentally wrong with you, but a surgery like the one that we have been through can change our chemicals around so much that it can make a big difference in the way that we think and deal with our emotions. i work in a mental hospital and have to give out these kinds of medications all the time and i see the wonderful things that they can do for people in need.

know that you are not alone and sometimes you just need to speak up and let your family know what is going on. you will be surprized how much they will support you. even if you dont tell them, they probably are sencing something is wrong. there are tons of people on here that are willing to talk with you all the time, and if you really need someone to talk to we are here.

i would be personally willing to talk with you one to one if you need someone just to listen to you. i am a psychiatric technician and have given therapy to many people and sometimes it helps just to have someone listen to you who doesnt have a personal attachment to your life so that they may be without bias. i hope that you take the help that so many people are willing to give you. you are loved and cared about. ---sassy

  5. well this surgery was way easier than my tubaligation that i had in 03. mind you the doc cut me as big as a c section for it, but as far as going back to work after 5 days i think that it is totally duable. i would be able to go back to work today if i had to. but my job is an easy one; if your involves heavy lifting and such then i wouldnt recommend it. if its a desk job i think the only thing that you will really struggle with is staying awake. everyone is different though but from what you have told me i think you have a pretty high pain tolerance.

i didnt have any nausea, but i make sure to take my anti nausea pills every 6 hours just in case. i think its great that you have lost so much so far. since you still have 2 weeks i totally recomend staying on that liquid diet for the whole time. the more that you lose pre op the faster you will recover post op. also keep walking as much as possible. it will help you after the surgery as well. if you can get up as soon as possible. i was walking before 2 hours after my surgery and it felt great to get up and walk. it releaved the pressure on my tummy. as far as pain meds. make sure to tell them if your pump isnt cutting it. most people dont realize it but you can ask for something else as well so that you wont be in any pain. they gave me demerol and it was great! it actually speeds up the recovery process, because the less pain that you are in the more active you can be and the more active the more blood flow and the more blood flow the faster you heal. my insicions are almost healed already. they look like little cat scratches right now. i hope this helps. good luck with your diet, and then the surgery, keep me posted. :D

  6. i know! last night i tried to drink 1/4 cup of protein drink. i sipped it slowly, but when i finished i felt like throwing up, i actually gagged. i hurried and crushed up a nausea pill and licked it up. it helped me really quick to not throw up, but i think i am gonna stick to 1/8th of a cup for a while now because i dont ever want to feel like that again!

hiccups are so scarry for me, i am so scarred that i am gonna rip my tummy open. i thought you got hiccups after eating to fast, but ive never eaten so slow in my life! what the heck?

  7. im on day 3 and im right in the middle of the worst i think. i still dont regret my decision as im sure that things will improve since they have already begun to get better, a little at a time. congrats on the great weight loss results. your doing great!!

  8. i definatly believe that no one should go it alone for this surgery. i was in bakersfield and if i didnt have the support of my husband and daughter i dont know how i would have made it. your going to be in a foreign country so having noone with you would definatly be terrible. get that extra fat off now, it will definatly make for an easier recovery. dont let this get you down, youll also have a couple more angels looking after you now as well. im sorry for your losses. best wishes to you.

  9. so, i didnt sleep at all. just finally gave up at about 330 am. decided i might as well get all my stuff ready and put on my face. hopefully i dont crash! im pretty wired, so i think i'll be fine on the way there, but im not so sure about the way back...mabye it will be a good time for my daughter to get some driving time racked up...lol

    i'll keep you posted
