  1. my pain was bad too, but after the 3rd day seems like it started to get better. Plus the benefits are amazing!! I am eight weeks post op and feel like my old self only 22 pounds thinner. (I know it is not alot, but it is the beginning)
  2. my doctor told me that after about 18 months, your sensitivity to the band goes away and you should unfill for a month, then gradually start filling again. He says it will fill like it did in the beginning. I am only 2 months post op, but he said that is why some people start gaining a couple of years after surgery.
  3. I have another appointment with my doctor, on the 14th, I thought I would not need another fill, I was feeling good restriction for about 2 weeks. But now I am reconsidering, I am able to eat more, I am trying not to. I was steadily losing pounds, but now I put one back on. I know about weight fluctuation, but gaining is not an option for me. lol (I am self pay) I am really not complaining, I have lost 22 pounds in 8 weeks and that is not a bad thing. But I think you have to give the band time to get comfortable with the fill before you can decide if you are in the green zone for sure. Yes I do believe I need another fill. I am only at 3 CC and I believe I have a 10 CC band.
  4. I am a self pay and I chose the band because it was cheaper. Plus I was scared of the more invasive surgeries.
  5. I too am lactose intolerant. I take a daily lactose pill. It lets me have dairy. Plus I buy the lactose free milk to mix stuff with.
  6. That happens to me after a while after every fill. From what I can gather, they say that it is because you have fat around your stomach and when you lose some of that the band gets less tight. Plus, with me I swell each time I get a fill and after it goes down it is less tight too. I am always afraid of a slip too but it sounds normal to me. I am on my second fill too, so I am by no means an expert!
  7. I was in for two days, I had a hernia repaired during the surgery, so I had a lot of pain, then the next day after surgery my brother died, and I was super stressed. My blood sugar went through the roof. I was just not ready to go home. So I stayed the extra day. I should have been able to go home after 23 hours but it just did not work out that way.
  8. Dont forget sugar free popsicles! They are great for the liquid stage. Plus some say they help bring down the swelling??? Good luck. My doc did not give me a ton of information but there are some great videos on www.lapband.com.

I was banded on October 14, 2011. I am down 20 pounds. I was not given a bunch of rules, of what to eat or not eat, but my band is teaching me more than reading the rules has. I have had two fills and am at 3 CC in my band. I feel pretty good restriction. My doctor has moved me through the steps faster than most I have read on here. But so far so good. I am well and happy. I am going to try and post pics 1 per month of my progress. I have lost one clothing size. So I can finally wear the clothes I bought last diet I tried. I have been buying the next size down at yard sales. When I hit goal, I will buy a whole new wardrobe, but until then I am hitting the second hand stores and yard sales. I love reading the blogs here and the forums. I am thankful to have a site to teach me the in's and out's. Do any of you belong to a support group? We have one near my home and I am thinking about joining.
  11. I am 7 weeks post op and I get the hiccup and the runny nose too. I did not at first understand that it was a Stop sign, and then I had a lot more than a runny nose!! UGH! I know now!!
  12. Don't know about anyone else but 4 days after my surgery I did not feel up to visiting or going out! You need to take care of yourself and heal. But I would not plan an outting until you see how you feel afterwards. Happy ThanksGiving.
  13. just another thought, your body can not flush out fat without water.
  14. Congrats!! I hope all goes great for you. I am a newbie to the lap band and so far so good!! Good luck.

Wow Congrats!! I hope that happens to me one day!!
  16. I felt this Pop last night in the area around my port. It hurt for a second. Then I fell back asleep. I woke up this morning, a little sore in that area. I just had my staples out yesterday, so I called my surgeons office and the nurse said that woman have a round ligament or something like that that hangs on the port and what I felt was it popping lose. I feel fine today so maybe all well. She also said that when I lose more weight it will quit doing that.
  17. YES, I felt regret right after, but give it time. It is a life changing surgery. I am just now on day 11 and I am already done with the regret. I look forward to the future more than ever! Keep your head up.
  18. I am new to this too, I was banded the 14th of October. I think that we are so use to failure in dieting that it is hard to have faith that this will work for us. I am feeling the same pressures and fears you are. I lost until I started eating again now I am standing still. I fear the scales will never budge, and I get on them each morning (bad Idea, I know but I can't help it) I am trying to increase my exercise and walking on the treadmill. I feel like everyone is watching every bite I put in my mouth. I have not had any fills yet , I felt restriction at first from the swelling I guess, but not now. I do not yet know when I will get my first fill. But I think it needs to be soon. Good luck and keep your head up, you will succeed.
  19. I was banded the 14th of this Month, Oct. I am feeling better and walking on the treadmill. It is slow going but I am losing weight. YAY
  20. Thanks Everybody, I am doing better. I almost don't remember writing the above. I have a really hard time coming off the effects of the meds, I got real sick on the dalotta, and then they gave me morifphine. I hate pain meds, they make me really messed up. I have been trying the different foods, but either pureed or really soft. I wasn't able to drink soda before the surgery so that is not anything I will miss. The gas is even getting better. I am spending time outside, it is getting cool now and my doggie has missed me. Thank you all for your comments and suggestions. I will get my staples out next wednesday and then we will see how real life is.
  21. my doctor told me that at two years, the band needs to be emptied for a month, then start your fills again. He said this will reestablish the feeling of fullness, and make it like it was in the beginning. Has your doctor ever mentioned this?
  22. I am Joyce Real. I came here looking for answers, I don't seem to be able to find anywhere else. I am 5 days post op and doing ok. I still have quite a bit of pain, and the staples are annoying as can be. I feel my doctor is rushing me onto solid foods, he has already suggested I move from liquids right into trying chicken and baked potatoes. He even mentioned drinking soda, with my burp pain there is no way I want soda. But he is just the surgeon. So I do not expect him to give me all the answers. Everyone is pushing me to walk. I know it is important to get up and move but I can hardly drag myself out of bed. I am not taking the pain meds, because they make me into a zombie, and I would move even less. Today I am going to get on the treadmill and do as much as I can. I sound so negative, and that is not me, I am just recovering. I will get better and be more positive. Thanks for letting me put it out there.
