  1. I have a pretty physical job, walking several miles a day, even climbing over, and crawling under vehicles several times a day. I had surgery on Tuesday, was back to work the next Monday. I did pretty good, although I wish I'd had an extra week, the biggest issue for me was making sure I had clothing that was stretchy, and non restrictive. My Sister just had a sleeve done and had two weeks off...
  2. I know that when one gives up one addiction (food), another one is likely to surface. At least sex is good cardio, good for the relationship, and not to mention it's lot's of fun!
  3. Costo has a liquid high potency daily vitamin. It's very affordable, and liquid so there's no issue with getting it down. Plus it has lots of fiber. I actually like the taste. it comes in a two pack for less than $20. Lasts several months.
  4. I Love, Love, Love the Isopure Smoothies! 32 grams of Protein, and they taste just like something you'd get from Jamba juice. No aspartame, no lactose, and they are really tasty. 210 calories for the berry pomegranate, 190 calories in the Orange Berry. No blender needed, they are ready to drink. Who has time to wash out the blender before work, right? I order them through Amazon for $2.88 each, free shipping. GNC also sells them but for about twice the price.
  5. Clear Protein drinks, like Isopure. Protein helps your body heal. I liked the V-8 Splash too. I had no problem with liquids after surgery, and wasn't even hungry for about a week. Only problem was the pain in the port site, but that was manageable with pain meds. Wish I'd found this forum before my surgery! I had no idea what to expect, and my Dr's office wasn't much help, had to figure it out myself. Good luck!
  6. I started out 1 pound heavier then you. Surgery was May 10, 2011, and I'm just now down 40 pounds. More than a pound a week average, not bad. But yeah, I read some posts and wonder what the heck I'm doing wrong.
  7. I think we'd need a bit more information to offer any help. What kind of problems were you having? What reason was the band removed? And what did the removing doctor find when he went back in?
  8. I hate it when I get stuck and puke in front of people! Worst part really. Weird about the cat thing. Mine did the same thing! Maybe they have some kind of sixth sense and can tell there is something in there, and that it hurts us. Post op he was a constant presence on my lap, even when I had an ice pack over my incisions and port area. Way to go on the weight loss ( = Keep up the good work!
  9. Same thing with me. Banded in May, not much restriction until my 3rd fill in September. I cannot have ANY bread, lean meat, or most pasta. I have a really hard time eating anything for breakfast. Usually just have a protein shake. Lunch is also hard, soup works best. Dinner is my best bet for real food, but I still have to choose wisely or I pay for it. I'm hoping that after loosing 10 or more pounds my band will loosen up some or I will have to go in for a light unfill. Funny though I had very little restriction at 5 cc, but a 6 cc, I'm too tight.
  10. I think if anything, the Lap band would make a non bulimic person with out any history of bulimia into a full blown bulimic. I would go years with out throwing up before my Lap band. Now all I have to do is bend over with my head lower than my stomach and up comes anything in my stoma. If I eat anything that makes me feel uncomfortable it is easily eliminated. I was just thinking a few days ago how dangerous this would be for a bulimic. I realize I'm a little too tight right now. I had not even PB'd until my last fill in September.
  11. That's how my Doc does it. Places then needle, then I have to sit up and drink water to see if it goes down. Leaving the needle in place is painful, and I do tend to have some pain, but it allows him to add more or remove some if I have any issues getting the water down. After my adjustments my injection site usually does bleed a little and does show some bruising for a couple of days.
  12. I was home by 2:30 after having surgery at about 8 or 9 am.
  13. Wow, I thought I was the only one that vomited into a bag while driving down the freeway! Ziplocs are my friends ( = I don't use them often, but when I need to I'm very thankful they are there.
  14. I was soo in your shoes a few months ago, very frustrated. I was banded May 2011 with a 10cc band. I had almost no restriction at 3cc, some restriction at 5cc, then aftar my last fill, which put me at 6cc I have MAJOR restriction. I'm eating very small meals. At Breakfast I can't have anything solid so it's usually a Protein shake, lunch is Soup, then a small dinner, Lucky if I go a day without some vomiting. I'm finally loosing some weight, although it's still slow going. I know I need to have a slight unfill but I'm waiting till after the first of the year. Good luck to you. Remember we are all learning as we go.
  15. Before I had my last fill, i could eat part of a 6 inch IF I took the top piece of bread off. But since my last appt I cannot tolerate ANY bread. I DO like their Soups though ( = Having any sandwich made into a salad is a great option too!
  16. My port site was extremely sore for 1 to 2 months. The more active I was the worse it got. It also aggravated it if I wore pants with a snug waistband. Still does ) =
  17. That sounds like exactly where my port is located. You probably strained the muscle that the port is sewn into. I still do that at times, but the first month was extremely painful if I over did it. It probably would not hurt to contact your Dr though just to be sure. Good luck!
  18. Sounds good! I had a hard time finding my Proteins that first week or so. Thanks
  19. I also have Anthem BC. I got approved very quickly, no problems. I had to do the psych exam, nutritionist, and a medical eval done by my regular doctor.
  20. Mine still hurts at times and I'm 6 months out. It took about 4 weeks before it stopped being a constant pain. I just hope that means my surgeon secured it really well!
  21. I miss being able to preview a thread without having to open it. Now it only shows the origination date ) =
  22. Make sure you speak with your Anesthesiologist before surgery. I have woken up after surgery with horrible bruising and soreness under my chin, and on my jaw from the Dr trying to intubate me, but the last few surgeries I've had I spoke with the Anesthesiologist before surgery and have not had any problem at all. I think it's also important to wait for surgery if you are having a flair up with the TMJ, it may be worth it. Good Luck!
  23. I've noticed that mine is a lot less prominent. Dr says that the scar tissue will grow all around it adhering it to the stomach muscles. I figured that's why mine is barely noticeable 5 months post surgery. The post was the most painful part of my recovery, so I'm thankful that the pain has nearly completely went away.
  24. Slow going. Down 23 pounds. I feel like things didn't really start happening until my last fill 3 weeks ago. I'm at 6cc's in a 10cc band. I finally feel like I have a Lap Band! I really didn't feel very much restriction. and I had never had any episodes of regurgitation until this last fill. Hope that things progress pretty well from here on out.
