smallgirlsxthree got a reaction from summerseeker in Pre Op diet day 1 VERY hungry
I struggled with the pre-op diet also...cooking supper was the worst part of my day!! Have you tried any sugar-free candies? I still love sugar free Werther's, Jolly Ranchers and Life Savers. They let me have them after my surgery too, they've been great for me!! Good luck dear!

This is way too many carbs......Where's the Protein? When you eat protein, you get fuller faster and plus, you drop more weight. Other wise your body is starving for protein and using your muscle mass to compensate.........

Oh, and to those considering surgery the longer you wait the better! I swear it's true. I'm two years out and the difference in my skin from one year to two years was amazing. So much bounced back and rearranged even after I was at goal and maintaining. So definitely wait until you're at goal for at least six months because I lost an entire pant size, bra size, and even a shoe size in the months after I was sure I was finally done losing. I had to buy a whole new wardrobe!
Now, I still need plastics but certain areas I was sure I'd want help aren't bad and I feel like more of my natural shape came back at some point once my weight stabilized.
Just my opinion, but something to consider. I would have had other procedures done that I now think aren't necessary if I had done it right away instead of being forced to wait because of my geographical location.

smallgirlsxthree got a reaction from Bryan Whitson in Do You Still Look Forward To Food Or Enjoy It?
I'm a year out from surgery now, and I really enjoy food now. You have a different relationship with it after the surgery. You don't get very much, so it better be something that you really want!! You get a little pickier about what you want, and is it worth it. I don't eat french fries now, because they make me queasy, but I don't need them You will be able to eat pretty much whatever you want eventually, but develop the good habits right post op so that you can stick with them. I drink caffeine now, it doesn't give me any problems. It's hard on your sleeve in the beginning, but I am doing ok with it now. I know it seems like a death sentence for food now, but I can honestly say that it gets better!!

I was diagnosed in my preop testing, but I don't need it now after the weight loss. I just did my last sleep study and it came back normal! My neurologist said once you get under 200 lbs you will probably have it go away

I have been so busy with life that I haven't made the time to get on this forum for a long time. I'm down 94 pounds now and I'm loving it. I've recently had some more trouble with my stomach and GERD, but its just something I will have to deal with. Now for the NSV part...I put in a pair of my husbands jeans last night and they fit me! I have no idea why I tried them on-I'm not going to wear them-I just had the silly curiosity to see if they fit lol. Going from a snug size 22 to being able to fit into a mans size 32 jeans is amazing to me. This sleeve has been a life saver and its worth all of the trouble in the beginning to get to things like this!

I weighed myself this morning (I've finally gotten to where I only weigh myself every few days/once a week). I looked down and it said 199!!!! I made my 12 year old daughter come in and weigh herself to make sure that the scale wasn't going crazy, and she looks at me funny when I'm so excited for 199 again. Had to explain to her that it was a milestone, a huge huge huge milestone!!
I went shopping for an outfit for a job interview next week and was competely out of my element in the "normal" size sections! My 2 younger daughters were having a blast helping me pick out tops. My only problem is that my chest hasn't caught up to my upper stomach for weight loss, so if something fits in my belly it's way too tight in my chest. Oh the problems in my life now!! I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have had the self confidence to even seek out a new job before this surgery, and I am so thankful for that.
For all of the people just starting out, a sleeve is a roller coaster ride that is completely worth it. When you first get on and start out you question yourself if it was a good idea, then you go up and down a few loop-de-loops and it's a great ride!! Enjoy your loop-de-loops!!

try Protein bars...I cut a bar into four pieces and it thru the day. If my stomach growls i eat a piece and it satisfys my hunger. They are kind of heavy so it stays with you better then a shake. I hope this helps.

I was just watching TV, and a Weight Watcher's commercial was on...the guy in the commercial said "you know when you need new underwear, you've lost alot of weight" or something to that effect. That's hilarious! I asked for new undies for Christmas because all of mine were so saggy in the hiney. Just thought that was an awesome thing to say because I could relate so much!! Hope you all need new undies soon!!! :-)

I never thought about the thrill you would get from losing weight, and that every time you jump on the scales is like Christmas. Even if I'm having a stall (like I've done twice already now) I still don't feel the agony I felt before surgery when I got on the scales.I've lost almost 50 lbs in less than 2 months, thats the best present I've ever given myself. And it's alot like having a baby, you quickly forget all the pain and suffering and would go through it again in a heartbeat!

I'd call your surgeon and have him give you some ideas on what to take for the pain. Even better, have him fax a list of no-no medications to your family doctor so they will have it on file for the future. I haven't needed any other medicines other than the pain medicine they sent me home with, so I really don't know, but I'd start with the surgeon first. They'd be the best one's to ask!
