Kika79 got a reaction from renwelderreser in Liquids 3 Days Post Op?
Stina- have you called the doc? As you mention this is a expensive tool, don't take any chances... From what I've read most people can sip a few ounces the first couple of days. I would call them and maybe only drink Clear liquids for now. Am sure they will figure it out. Good luck and be positive!!

I was reading it today and they were a bit harsh. In any case the overall website doesn't really have any support for plication patients. How are you doing? I hope everything is great!!!

Ana, I agree that there are probably many other factors involved in Josettes results and I'm not trying to start any internet rumors or even disparage Doctors in Mexico. I guess what I am trying to say is Plication is a fairly new procedure and there isn’t a lot of information out there about it. I did say I personally felt uncomfortable going to Mexico for surgery but quite frankly, that goes for any foreign country for that matter. Also because of the lack of information, this forum has been a useful tool. If someone sees posts from several people who've had complications all from the same place, you would naturally want to consider that information before making a decision. Also Josette clearly says several other people have contacted her to confirm what were my own personal observations. I'm not disupting the fact that you and your friends have had a successful experience but I dont think you can dismiss those who havent. I also heard about the Dr. in Ohio. In fact I asked my surgeon about that case during my initial consultation and he told me he personally spoke to that surgeon himself and explained the whole situation to me.

It was not my intent to claim that I have all the answers and I did say in my post that I'm no expert and not to scare anyone but I do think that this forum is a place where people should be able to freely share information and post their concerns so that everyone who is thinking about making this important decision has as much information they can get..that includes the good and the bad. Everyone can draw their own conclusions.

Kika79 got a reaction from Sleeved&Hopeful in How Is Hunger After Plication Surgery?
With the plication your stomach is folded in twice, not stapled or cut. Our stomachs are intact they are just shaped like a half a moon or banana for a few of us. With the restriction you can only eat a certain amount of food before you get full or feel sick from over-eating. My personal issue was or still is I eat without hunger. It's all in my mind. I eat bc am used to eating at a certain time or craze all day, Even with Mental Hunger I've lost 50 pounds by eating healthier and lots of cardio.

Thats it sue! You're right on the money- I went from a size 14 to a 2 in a very short amount of time but I was devout about diet and exercise and getting to my goal- you can do it you just have to be dedicated and decided that this as you said is just the magic tool to get you from where you are to where you want to be the rest is up to you.

Thoughts and prayers to you and your wife. Wow this is very scary as I've been having stomach issues since late June but I just found out that I'm 11 weeks pregnant and figured it was that or at least I hope so. Mine is more being nauseated (upset stomach) but no puking. Now I'm worried, I also went to OCC March 14th.
I hope your wife is recovering well and your hanging in there. How scary this must be for you guys. Please update us with any details. Many blessings!

Hi Guys, thanks for all your responses. I know its been a long time, but I wanted to tell you all that you guys were a great source of comfort to me and a big help. My surgery went great and I'm 90lbs down and I voluntarily had my gall bladder out last month. It wasn't fun, but not a massive deal either and I luckily never felt symptoms of the gall stones I just knew it'd have to come out at some point and I figured why wait for the pain. I'm lighter and fitter and i have the time so now is the time. So just incase ya'll were wondering, thats where I'm at. Thanks again everybody !!

    Hey Pranjala
This is the first time I've exercised since 2009. I waited until my one month anniversary got clearance and am not stopping (LOL).According to my doc the plication will help us loose 60-70pounds without exercise but after that it's all up to us. I think that the first 3months are crucial so I want to loose as much as possible.
Good luck to you!! You will feel great when you see the pounds come off.

    Hey all!!
I started Zumba two weeks ago and today I did an hour with a trainer. Let me start off by "saying" that I thought I was going to pass out!!! I busted my bu** but I did an entire hour. Am doing 2 days Zumba with a 30 minute treadmill walk inclined to 5 and 2 days of circuit training (whatever that means). I've noticed a decrease in weight loss already. To date I've lost 33 pounds.
I am hoping to be able to run for 3-4 minutes straight without stopping. I can 2 mins right now but my poor knees give out.
Side note (not excercise related): today I carried (3) 10pound ice bags for 5mins and I realized how much harder my legs/body were working to move. I've put my body through alot and am looking forward to a healthier, skinner me.
    How's everyone else doing?

Lucyg- my doctor said I should be drinking 24oz of Water, 2x a day 4oz of Soup, 2x a day Protein shake, and 2x 4oz coffee or tea. I take my bottle of Water everywhere I go, just in case I get "hungry". Am not exactly sure if am hungry or am mentally hungry. Either way try sipping on water or make some tea for the evenings.
Let me know how it goes. :)

Kika79 reacted to FatToPhat in A Little Over One Year Post Op...the Good, Bad And The Ugly!
Well, it's been quite the year! Both good and bad. I had my plication surgery in March of 2011 and have only lost about 50 lbs this past year. The first 4-6 months went pretty good. There was noticeable restriction, but I was definitely able to eat more and more as time went on. Then I started having some hip problems with increasing pain. I wasn't able to work out at all and the diet went out the window as I just came home from work, took pain meds, sat on the couch and nibbled on food all evening. Then I had hip surgery and spent a couple of months recovering from that. I gained 13 pounds during that time and became very scared that I was going to start gaining it all back again. But these past couple of weeks, I've gotten back on track, started exercising and reducing my carbs again. I've already lost 7 of the 13 I've gained. I'm still discouraged that I haven't been able to lose more this year and that my restriction is almost completely gone and I feel like I've wasted the $12,000 I spent on this surgery. HOWEVER! I looked at the pictures of me just before surgery and then of me today and I can definitely see the difference! There is only a 47 lb weight loss between the 2 pictures and I certainly have a long ways to go still, but at least I can see the progress. Then I looked at my inches lost and I've lost a total of 27.5 inches which includes my chest, waist, hips, thighs, calves and arms. Plus my BMI has gone from 56.8 to 46.7....still morbidly obese, but a lot better! So! I feel better about things today and am ready to get back on track!
