  1. good luck to you; i am 7 months post band and i love to read these stories so i always remember what the beginning was like and how hard i worked to get to where i am today. sounds like you r healing well and on the right track. good luck on your journey. if you need any advice or have any questions, maybe my 7 months experience can offer you some support. good luck Roseann from New Jersey; as hard as it is to cough, it is so important. i would take a few deep breathes, put a pillow on my stomach and get that cough out even though it hurt.

  2. welcome and congrats. i was banded on december 1st and when i went to my first week follow up i had lost 25 pounds. but the next two weeks i lost nothing and at my third week follow up the dr said that 500 calories was not enough and increase to 800. when i increased to 800 last week, i lost the 2 pounds. may want to think about adding to the daily menu. good luck and keep up the good work

  3. oh to be 30 again. lol. i am going to 42. how the heck did that happen. if it wasn't for my body being tired from being overweight i feel like i am 16 inside. i am super excited. at the beginning in august i would fall asleep dreaming of this and how i am going to look and feel at possibly 150 pounds. i think the last time i was 150 pounds i was in middle school. thank you arnetta

  4. congrats to you and your wife on your anniversary. we didn't gain this weight in one day and we have a lifetime of bad habits to overcome. we have to learn that we do not have to celebrate the good times or console the bad times with food. that is going to take us some time. you seem to be on the right track. look ahead; don't look back. you will be very successful. even if you have a slip here or there, don't give up, just keep going.

  5. i just read this post. sorry i was away for the weekend. definitely go to the gyno, they can tell sometimes just by the feel if it something to worry about. last year i had the same thing and the doctor said that my bras are not supportive enough and it was a ligament just getting stretched. of course i won't say don't worry because we always worry about these things. i will certainly pray for you and i hope you get good news soon.

by the way, congrats on the promotion and good luck on the move. that is so exciting.

  6. sorry for your loss. i hope you are doing well.

great news that you lost the first week and were able to be successful even though you were away. keep up the good work; you are an inspiration. i start thursday for my two week liquid.

by the way, my youngest is 11 and i remember those days of asking people, did your son sleep through the night at 7 months, at 8 months, etc., it is all a blur now. hang in there.

  7. hey matt; we talked before on the december bandsters post.

This is the best birthday gift we can give to ourselves. my birthday is next thursday the 17th (fellow scorpio) and that is the day i start my two week presurgery diet. i am italian originally from brooklyn new york and i can certainly relate to the Manga. way too much of that going on. a plate of pasta as a first dish and a second dish of some sort of meat. here's to a thinner us in 2012 and the many many many extra years we incurred. good luck on your surgery.

  8. i am sorry, read it too fast. that is fantastic that you are spending your pre pre surgery dieting. i should be more like you and do that. my friends at work are sort of bringing in things that they know i like, flan and rice pudding, and of course i am eating them. i think next week i will ask them not to do that, because i am going to gain weight in the last three weeks presurgery instead of beining disciplined like you and losing. good job and keep up the good work.

  9. why does the diet vary so much from surgeon to surgeon. mine is three protein shakes (2 made with skim milk, the other water) one cup of fat free veggies; broth; vegetable juice (not V8 fusion) sugar free apple sauce and pudding. fat free yogurt only plain and vanilla; cream of wheat and plain oatmeal. why can't my surgeon allow me to have a healthy dinner? well, great job on the 2 pounds already that is great. did you take your before pictures? keep up the good work.

  10. i love your personalitly. i am starting the liver shrinking diet in 3 weeks and i have to do it for two weeks which includes thanksgiving. that stinks. it is so funny how this diet varies from doctor to doctor. some people say they are allowed to have one frozen diet meal a day (weight watchers of lean cuisine) other say they can have cereal and oatmeal. some people do not do the pre op diet at all, just the way you would prepare for a colonoscopy. (enema yuck) why is so different from surgeon to surgeon?

  11. awww this is a great post to read. i am an old fashion kind of girl. these are the posts i love to read. you know that is so sweet. and you are a lucky lady in so many ways. that is what this journey is all about. feeling good, loving ourselves, not hiding anymore. congrats.

  12. 11 pounds??? that is so great. you should be so so happy with that number. it is normal to be nervous. probably the most thing is the unknown. we can try to prepare for this but we really can't until we are experiencing it for ourselves. Best of luck to you and i hope you have a quick recovery, GAS free. that seems to be the most common post surgery complaint that i hear. i am not banded either so i look forward to hearing how well you have done with it. keep up the good work on the next four days of the pre op diet.

  13. Just what we needed. a positive and successful post. Congratulations to you. what a great encouraging post to read. you look wonderful. i am so excited for you. i am going to be banded six weeks from now and i am so happy to see that you are loving your band. thank you for sharing your story and for giving us future bandster hope. it has been kind of negative lately and was second guessing there for a second. but i am back on track waiting for my special day. well, good luck to you and continued success to you. Way to go. :D
