Mocha Frappe
Of all the things I thought I would miss; it was Frappes. I have avoided Starbucks, as I no longer eat sugar. Made a great Protein Frappe today. REALLY YUMMY....... 3/4 Cup strong coffee 2 T. instant milk 2 packages of Equal 2 scoops of Injury Protein Mix ...could use 1 scoop and drop 20 Pro & 100 cal. ICE..... With Pro. & instant milk....I figure about 45 grams of Protein and around 220 calories. It was so worth it....

Two Days With Restriction And...
HAD THE SAME ISSUES INITIALLY. MY SURGEON SAID YOU WILL HAVE IT; THEN LOSE IT UNTIL YOU ARE AT THE PERFECT FILL. I HAVE A 7CC BAND, I HAD 6 FILLS, WENT OVER, AND HAD .75CC REMOVED. YOU WILL KNOW WHEN YOU ARE THERE. IF YOU CAN STILL EAT ALL THE FOODS THEY SAID YOU COULD NOT EAT....YOU ARE NOT THERE YET. HANG IN THERE....YOU WILL FIND YOUR SWEET SPOT.

Not Losing Any Weight On Lapband Starting To Feel Discouraged
I am down 72 pounds since 11/30/11. I was told to eat from a measuring cup starting the day of surgery. Never eat over 1 cup of food..and only 3 times a day. I do a greek yogurt for the am & pm protein snack. My surgeon also says....no sugar....no/few carbs....50+ grams protein a day. Still eat from a cup, try really hard to get all my water in. I watch my calories, staying around 1000 a day, not much exercise (waiting for a new knee). Do you have restriction? If not follow the 1 cup rule....if you eat less you will start to lose....each person is an individual...and our loss is individual to us. Hang in there...it will get better...DO NOT HESITATE TO GO BACK TO YOUR SURGEON EVEN IF YOU ARE NOT LOSING.....THAT IS WHY WE PAID THEM $$$$$$$$$. GOOD LUCK

Success - Sometimes Bitter Sweet?
Have been lucky I guess, no issues that I have noticed. Well maybe I did get a couple seconds looks from several young hot bikers last time we were out riding. The other night we were at dinner with family, I got a stuck (green pepper) and had to leave the table. When I came back my nephew asked; Would you still it now that you know all the problems? ABSOLUTELY !!! An occasional stuck is the least of my problems....the fact that at a recent family funeral no one recognized me was the icing on the cake, that I did not eat.

Taking A Short Road Trip A Month After Surgery
Why not ? Eating out will always be an issue for us...... Breakfast....hot cereal/yogurt Lunch... soups. Dinner.. I always suggest Mexican when given an option. I order a ground beef taco and beans... mix the taco filling with the beans...toss the shell ! Eat just a little. Remember nothing is worst than getting a STUCK while out on the town. Enjoy your trip...........

Dr. Metz Wouldn't Fill My Lap Band Because I Smoke
What I have heard, take it for what you want.. most doctors will not do a band if you smoke. My surgeon does a nicotine test prior to surgery, and requires 6 months of no smoking prior to surgery. Smoking does not appear to be an issue with the bypass...

Down 70 Lbs.....today....underland
After I posted my big loss; lots of stuff going on a death in the family and my husband had knee surgery. Was really concerned that I would return to my old habits...NOPE. lost 3 more pounds. I have knees waiting for surgery so my exercise is limited to my work schedule. I have not had a piece of candy, any type of sweet, no soda, and mostly NO CHIPS. I was scared to death my hair was going to fall out so I really hit it hard on protein, Oh Yea shakes are the best 32grams of protein. Have to admit I am hooked on Greek yogurt, another big protein. My big treat each day is dinner....typically have a small baked potato and meat. I love my baked potato. Most important we did it together life was easier. Best advise ????stay away from slider foods and drink lots of water, tea, my doc said coffee is fine also. Thank goodness. Went to the family funeral.....and no one recognized me....so cool.

Down 70 Lbs.....today....underland
Coming up on my 6 months. I have lost 70 pounds and am finally in UNDERLAND. This has been exciting and rewarding in so many ways. Fills went great...had 1 overfill and that was painful. Went from a 24W in jeans to a 14 regular. My husband banded the same week and is down 79 pounds. Life is good....

Can Weight Loss Cause Gout? Please Respond With Helpful Input...
My husband is 46 days out and got the worst case of gout he has ever had. Possibly the high protein. He has been taking Uloric for 2 years and been gout free until now.

Fictitious Members
I typically check new members a few times a week. After I checked this morning 11/22 there are several that their information is bogus including kids and reports of weighing 60 pounds after a 60 pound loss. Surgery dates that are older than the are. I love this forum, however I do not plan to put my self out there for ridicule or for someone to have a laugh on. Why is this not monitored ! I will be leaving this board today for this reason.

Why Is It Taking So Long For My Pcp To Forward My Records?? *rant*
Our nurse navigator said that PCP records take the longest...some times up to a month. We go to a small town clinic where we have a relationship with all the staff. I spoke with the clinic manager, and she prepared our medical records in advance of receiving the request from the Center. I would make the face to face contact. Take a proactive stance and you can usually get it done. Good Luck

What If I Can't Change After Getting A Lap Band?
I think you just have to get a new "mindset" about life. Some things we do are out of habit. Example: I have a 2 hour appt. twice a week. It is over at around lunch time. ALWAYS stopped at McDonalds. Yesterday I finsished the appt. and drove straight to McDonalds. Sitting in line I realized: You dope..you are on liquids. Pulled out of line and had abottle of water. Good Luck in whatever you decide.

I Am New And Have Yet To Have The Lap Band Surgery Done
Bev, we are the same age. I have not heard anything negative about our age group and the band. Where do you live?

I Am New And Have Yet To Have The Lap Band Surgery Done
Dr. Mike Hovey, Omaha NE. He is a partner in Omaha Gastric Bypass. He prefers the band, but does all WLS. He is also a Vein specialist. Really nice guy, I feel comfortable with him. So important!

How Much Did You Lose On Pre Lap Band Op Diet?
Just started the pre-op yesterday, so nothing to report yet. I lost 14 pounds from my first surgeon's visit to my pre-op weigh in on 11/17. Pretty darn proud of myself. Bear gained a pound. Our pre-op is liberal for a liquid plan. Low sugar yogurt, cream of wheat !!, and canned tomato soup made with water, and all the similar stuff. Had a bowl of cream of wheat with Almond Milk for lunch. Just hanging in there.

Lap Band Or Gastric Sleeve....can't Take Decision
The nurse navigator told us that if you have the Sleeve or Bypass, they expect you to wait 12 -18 months before becoming pregnant. CHECK with your F-doc and also with the WL surgeon about the time frame you will need to wait before attempting. Good luck,

LOW CARB / HIGH PRO Yogurt
Thanks for all the ideas. Would not have considered adding sugar free jam to the Greek yogurt. Great idea. Found out that our Bakers Store up here in the Midwest are actually Kroger. Going to also try to CARBMaster/

Pre Op Group Seminar
So all patients with the Surgeon's Group attend a 2 hour pre-op info. seminar. It was pretty general, considering there were folks there getting all the WLS. I really love the idea of being home that night, and not doing 2-3 days at the hospital. I choose the band. Learned about the Sleeve, a little to scary, I get being stapled, but cut off a chuck off me. Not for me. More of the folks getting the Sleeve or GB than the band yesterday. I had to laugh, someone said, I'm getting the Sleeve so I never have to worry about it again. Well, I'm here to tell you; nothing in life is certain. I know many (16) people that have had the GB and have gained it all back. Life is tough, we just have to be tougher. Have a great weekend; and think thin.
