Has Anyone Had Problems With Watermelon?
OMG... this is why I logged in today. Tried to eat a bite of watermelon. I chewed and chewed and chewed. Did not go down and was afraid it would get stuck. I rarely eat fruit so this is not a big deal....but who would have thought ?

Would You Do It Again?
YES, this has been the best 7 months; though I have had to work to learn how to use this tool called a Lapband. No fast food, no fruit, just a little healthy food is all you really need. I'm afraid of carbs....I try to compose my day with protein....my big splurge is a baked potato once a week.

Can I Get Banded At 5'4 195 Lbs ?
Medicaid in most states requires a 6 month monitored diet prior to requesting surgery.

What To Do When Food Gets Stuck?
PB PB PB....when it happened it is because I did not chew or the bite was just more than I needed. Th e slimes are the worst. I agree; I rarely go out to eat; can;t eat enough to make it work buying A TACO at the Tex Mex place. Had a stuck while out with friends, they thought I was choking and asked if I needed help.

My Doctors Cant Access My Port. 3 Months Post Op
Agree with lawgirl...the more you lose the easier it will be. My surgeon is the guy they send to when others are unable to do the fill. I would think they would have had you under Fluoroscopic as soon as the problem occurred. Our doc books every 15 minutes on fill days...we go in together....he his done with both of us in 5 minutes....The dietitian and Center leader spend about 15 minutes updating and answering questions. GOOD LUCK

Dr Said Nothing And Not Requiring Multi-Vitamin
We were told to start daily vitamins during our pre-op and should continue from there on. So many chewables.....any type of deficiency will affect you in some way... LOTS of PROTEIN and a daily. Have not lost any hair. When I go the the surgeon's office I see SO MANY ladies with no hair... or big bald and thining spots; he does the bypass as well so maybe they had that.

Drinking Soda's??
Last diet coke, the night before surgery...really wish I would have made it a beer...had to give up that too. Carbonation and the bands are not friends....surgeon said no fizzy....so no fizzy.

Salmon Patties
Made salmon patties last week, same recipe I have used for years. Could not eat one; texture ? one bite and I could tell it was going to get stuck. In the old days I would have put tartar sauce on it. Settled for a Greek yogurt that night.

Cream Of Wheat
My pre-op and post-op included cream, grits, and tomato soup. EACH surgeon has their guidelines....you picked your surgeon for the reasons. Listen to and follow his suggestions. Good Luck.

Questions About Insurance Approval And Time Off
Each Dr. is different as are the insurance companies....I had a fast approval.. about 4 days. There are soooo many people involved in the process; if one drops the ball is slows everyone down. I had surgery on Wed. and returned to work on Monday. Good Luck.

After Surgery, Do Any Of You Struggle With Still Eating Too Fast ???
My surgeon instructed me to eat for no more than 20 minutes; then stop.... I get 3, 1 cup meals a day and an am & pm high protein snack. So by the time I chew and put the fork down etc... I have only ate about half of my meal. After getting a stuck because I was over filled....I really try to take little bites and have learned what I can eat and what I need to leave behind. Still have some slimes, like the other day at a family event. I always have a paper towel, napkin something in my purse....cuz...when it blows it blows.

So Much Info
Welcome; you will find lots of information and opinions on the site. Always refer to your medical professionals for solid advise and concerns. As we are all individuals so are body's. What works for one is not the be all end all. The band was the right choice for me; down 70 pounds in 6 months, unsure if that is typical. Some report over 100 pounds in 5 months while others have struggled to get 25-30 in 6 months. Hang in there girl and good luck.

When Do Most Get Chicken Again?
I still can't eat chicken breast, I can eat canned chicken if I add cottage cheese or FF mayo. I would love a few bites of chicken with lemon pepper...oh well. I can eat small bites of steak or pork chop,,,but no roast beef or ham.. who knows why. We all are different and will find what works for us. Good Luck

Mocha Frappe
Unjury is the only powder that I like..and only 1 flavor. I used the Oh Yea bottle from the Vitamin Shoppe. It was really good, and 32 protein. Way to expensive to by now, but was great on the liquid trip. Looks like you are well on your way to success..........Good Luck

Has The Band Actually Worked For You?
1. How long have you been banded?............6 months 11/30/11 2. How much weight did want to lose?............ around 100 pounds 3. How much weight have you lost?............... 72 as of today 4. How happy are you that you have been banded: Scale of 1-10 (1 being regretful, 10 being elated) I now have my life back.....best decision I have made since picking out my hubby. Hope to lose another 35, as the doc has indicated that would great. 1-10 ? 20+ Good Luck

Pre Op Diet
Tomato soup and non fruited yogurt saved my life before and after surgery's liquid diet times. Breakfast...cream of wheat or grits with milk helped me start the day. I remember those days....hang in there it will pay off. A smaller/shrinking liver means an easier op for the surgeon and you. You will get to the point when you no longer crave sugar, can't say the same about salt. Would die for a bag of chips; however not an option for me. Good Luck.......................

6 Months As Of Today!
Great work.. sounds like we are about at the same place...time frame and weight loss. Most folks think I'm crazy when I talk about 50 + grams of protein a day..good to hear you are following the same plan. However I am nearly 62 years old and waiting on a new knee so my exercise is limited to walking the dogs. I have another 40 to lose to make the doc happy. Like you it would be nice to do it by the 1 year (11/30/11) mark, but if not...I will continue to live this new life and enjoy. Good Luck

Vetran Bandsters ( Question For You )
Only 6 months out and have had 6 fills in 7cc band... .75cc pulled back out. I AM THERE. I'm down 72 pounds since 11/30/11. MEASURE YOUR FOOD.....NEVER EAT OVER 1 CUP OF FOOD, EVEN IF YOU ARE STILL HUNGRY. I had to start this the day after surgery...per my doc....1 Cup mostly protein 3 times a day....am & pm high protein snack....water, water, coffee, tea... LIQUIDS. I remember being so hungry at night. A member posted if you are THAT Hungry..drink a protein shake....if you don't want the shake..then you are really not that hungry....works for me...Good Luck.

2 Questions...cherry Tomatoes & Pilates
Have not been able to eat the grape tomato; they don't go down no matter how much chewing. Just waiting for my garden to pop so I can skin a fresh tomato.
