  1. That is fantastic, I can't wait for hat day. I am just now starting to get anxious about not being able to eat after surgery. It doesn't help that my mom keeps trying to talk me out of it. I'm definitely doing it though. I'm glad you are doing so well!
  2. That's good to hear, that must be what this is then. I have a really weird burping thing going on and pressure/discomfort in that area. I started noticing it several months ago but didn't put 2 and 2 together until today.
  3. I guess I'll just tell him at pre op that I suspect I may have it so he will be looking for it.
  4. That's awesome, I hope he will do the same for me!
  5. I think I may have a hiatal hernia. I have a lot of burping in a weird pattern after I eat and discomfort in my upper tummy area. I read somewhere that Dr.Aceves will repair it for free duiring VSG surgery if he sees it? I'm going to bring it up at the pre op appt. but was wondering if anyone here has dealt with this??
  6. Are we allowed to add a little healthy fat to our protein shakes? Like coconut oil or a little avacado? Maybe even an organic egg?
  7. My husband was the same way! He told me to just exercise more and eat Kashi! LOL!!! If only it was that easy. He's thin so of course he's not going to understand at first. I'm going to Mexico and he refused to go with me for a while. Finally he came around and now he is almost as excited as me. He came home yesterday and told me all about a lady he had talked to that had RNY a few month ago and was down 100 lbs and that she had a friend that just got back from MX after having the sleeve done. He was also stoked about getting a passcard, even calling to be sure we would have them before we leave. He will come around, don't change your date! Just PRAY
  8. You are blessed, go with it! LOL! Mine is 3 wks from Monday and I only get nervous if I think about the actual operation. So I try not to think about that part, just the before and after. It's probably not healthy but it's working so far! I hope Dr. Aceves will give me some calming meds the night before surgery and enough for the next morning too.
  9. That is great to hear, I sure hope that will be my experience after my VSG. I've been know to order 2 McFlurry's at McD's because 1 wasn't enough! And I always request caramel on top! Uggh!!!!
  10. I chose the RNy first because of this reason. I am a huge sweets eater, but since learning about the sleeve I have chosen it instead. I have 3 wks to go.
  11. Krista, take magnesium. It works great to naturally regulate the body and is a stress reliever too.
  12. What an amazing blessing!!!
  13. Are there sleevers here who are several years out? If so, can you please share how you are doing now with your eating and maintaining? I'm wondering if you still have the feeling that you could spiral out of control at anytime. I always had that feeling after weight loss before, and obviously it always happened eventually or I wouldn't be here!
  14. 5 htp is great too, I take it every night before bed. Not so much for sleep but as an anti-depressant and it also helps with carb cravings. Melatonin needs to be taken in the right dose, start small. It can give you nightmares if you are taking too high of a dose.
  15. LOL I got mine 'rehung' after I had to get my implants removed. Now they are small but at least they're not saggy.
  16. I'll be having my VSG October 10th w/ Aceves! I'm also in my mid 30's, (33), but I've had countless surgeries in my lifetime. I still get a little freaked out though.
  17. Try Melatonin. It gives a better rest than Ambien and it's natural, (and OTC).
  18. I've had to insist I do this. I told my DH first, I just told him that he probably won't understand but that it's something I must do for myself. At first he didn't even want to go with me but I finally told him I really needed his support there so he's going now. I was really nervous about telling my mom, and mostly about asking her to stay with our 5 children for the 5 days we'll be gone. I know this is the right decision for me. I hope everything works out great for you!!! Do you have a date yet? My VSG is October 10th with Dr. Aceves!
  19. Can you gain just a tad to make it 50?
  20. I am in the same boat except I am putting the entire cost on a 0% interest credit card and plan to pay it off at tax time. I also have moments when I think i am being selfish by doing this. But then I realize the surgery is not only for me but will benefit my entire family. (((hugs)))
  21. My heart goes out to all of who who have struggled with infertility. It took my husband and I almost 5 yrs to conceive our first child, (due to PCOS), then we went on to have 3 more- all boys! So we have 4 boys and we are finalizing the adoption of our baby girl from the foster care system. We've had her from birth and she's 14 months now. DeeDee, what a blessing! She is precious!
