  1. Tofu is a great source of protein, but before dropping all meat, please talk with your nutritionist about what other nutrients you need in your diet to stay healthy.
  2. Peace.... time will make you successful!
  3. Every point of view is valid on this forum. I was guilty of segregating into a special group, but no more. I wish everyone success.
  4. Keep with the focus. It will be here before you know it.
  5. Hang in there, you will get your salmon soon!
  6. Ask your doctor. It varies by surgeon.
  7. It is not uncommon to have foods we once liked taste different. Part of that is the extra chewing.
  8. Confidence comes with self esteem. Keep up the good work!
  9. Just take smaller bites and chew chew chew. It is easy to fall out of the habit of chewing enough which will make swallowing harder. If this does not help, you may be to full. Call your Doctor or NP to dicsuss.

  11. Great post as always Jean.
  12. Congratulations and welcome to the other side. Best wishes for your recovery!
  13. Sounds normal. One tip on protein and fluids is to spread it all across the whole day. At the top of each hour drink 2-3 ounces of protein. Then at each 15 minute period later, drink hydrating fluid 2-3 ounces. Then repeat. You will get plenty of protein and liquids on this plan.
  14. Take your Mom and/or BF with you so they can get their questions answered as well. The probably are just afraid for you to have surgery.
  15. Just be aware that caffeine can dehydrate so keep your fluid levels up with non caffeinated liquids! Enjoy!
  16. No to carbonation...works OK flat if you must have the taste. With Alcohol you should always count the calories as they add up, and do impact our resistance to food.
  17. Congratulations and best wishes to you!
  18. trust your doctor and follow the instructions you are given!
  19. Fear and doubt are normal at this stage. Best wishes to you both!
  20. Happy to hear you are finally healing. Best wishes going forward and making your decisions about what is right for you! I know that I would hate to lose my band and would do anything to keep it!
  21. You go girl. You worked hard and you deserve all the recognition you get!
  22. Mark... we hear your pain, but the advice you have been given is sound. There is nothing I cannot eat today that I could eat before surgery. It is a matter of degree and choices. What you feel is perfectly normal and we will all be here to support you. What better time than at 21 when you have your whole life ahead of you to live to make this transition. You have only 21 years of bad habits to overcome... I had 63 years. It is a matter of deciding how you want to live, I chose albeit late in life to live healthy! Best wishes to you going forward.
  23. Way to go. You are a superstar! Congrats!
