No support

It is very frustrating and disheartening to say that I have no support with my decision to have lapband. I am 25 and have only told a few about my decision. My mother, little brother and boyfriend all think it is an unnecessary choice. Any advice on what to do? I have my last weight loss visit this upcoming Wednesday and will hopefully have surgery at the end of July.

  • Take your Mom and/or BF with you so they can get their questions answered as well. The probably are just afraid for you to have surgery.

I'm sorry to hear they are not supporting you at this time. Have to agree with above you should take them with you! Good luck on your journey and hope your support system will turn around! We are all here to support you!

I only told a few people in my family my decision to have the lapband. They know I'm stubborn so there was no talking me out of it but they helped me research and eventually they wanted what was best for me. My boyfriend and family have been supportive ever since. You can support the person without fully supporting their decisions.
