  1. Lap Band surgery is not as bad as many other surgeries I have experienced. We all had our doubts and second thoughts, but I don't know anyone with a band who would trade it for anything!
  2. i believe it is hard work to lose weight, regardless of the method. I think the lap band has been a great help to me and enabled me to finally achieve my goals.
  3. Work with what you got! We are with you every step of the way!
  4. I was told that the plication will indeed give better results and I have it myself. My doctor said that sometimes the stitches will erode and the stomach will return to its normal shape. You may never know it happened. The thought is that by that time, if it ever comes, you will have changed you lifestyle and eating habits. I know that I have. Remember all the things are just tools. You make the final decision on what and how much you eat!
  5. A great website, thanks Missy!
  6. Which group are you interested in? Try private message with a member.
  7. You could be too tight? It takes a while after surgery for all the swelling to go down. Everyone is different. Talk to your doctor.
  8. Find a substitute. Protein shakes, SF pudding, sf hot chocolate all go down real nice. You can gain weight with a band if you are not willing to make life style changes. It sounds harsh I know, but really?? You did not have surgery because you like your current weight/health level. Suck it up! There are a lot of people here who have been successful. A few have not, but most of these are finding away around the band.
  9. Ask the doctor's office for a prelim diet. Usually they have one that they prefer.
  10. One bite, one meal, one day, one pound at a time. Be a compliant patient!
  11. Yeah... we don't need crazies confusing the newbies!
  12. Yes, you can, but you have to take into consideration that it is a lot of empty calories. My Doctor did not recommend it in large quantities.
  13. Thanks for the recommendation.
  14. All the testing will help them create a plan for you that will work long term. Just answer honestly, you can't go wrong.
  15. GROSS! If you can't be positive or helpful don't post.
  16. Sorry to say, but probably not. Look into the options for revision surgery when you reach goal and maintain for 6 months or so.
  17. Sounds like gas may be playing a part of it.
  18. Thanks Missy, I ordered the Kindle version and will check it out! As for no milk... can you use almond milk? That is what I use almost exclusively.
  19. I didn't even know what quark cheese is, had to google it. Try Whole Foods if you have one or Fresh Market.
  20. Good progress, you are on your way!
  21. Wow... never had that problem. Sore and bruised yes, but no infection. I agree with Missy, if it is not better in a couple days on antibiotics demand a face to face visit!
