  1. Wow. I wonder if other BCBS' will follow suit?
  2. Thank you guys so much for the positive responses. I knew if anybody would understand my joy, it would be my fellow sleevers. Wishing much success to us all.
  3. Yesterday I was clowning around with my hubby, Joking with him about his height. We have a running joke that he is short (@6ft he's really not). But I kid with him that he is. And when I put on my heels I am taller than him so there for he is short. I know we are corny newlyweds, we will Celebrate our 1yr anniversary this sunday. Anywho back to my topic. During my clowning I had my back to him, walking to the shed, laughing the whole time. He proceeded to scoop me up and carry me to the storage house. Can you say I was shocked, estatic, and thrilled all at the same time. I have never been picked up easily let alone carried anywhere. I felt like the girls in the movies who get carried over the threshold right after they get married. I can't believe it, my husband can not only pick me up but he can carry me. Whoo-Hoo!!! This is an amazing accomplishment seeing as I have always been the bigger spouse out of the two of us. I was in wally world(Wal-Mart) last night and my hubby was going on about how saggy my size 12's looked. He was convinced I was in a smaller size now. I said okay I will try on some 10's he convinced me to try on some 8's as well. I got in the dressing room and the 10's fit great, I was happy with that. After showing him those, I went back in the dressing room to try on the 8's thinking, there is no way in Sam-Hill will I be able to get into these 8's. Well good people of Sleeve-land, not only did I get in them I was able to zip, button, breathe, and walk in them. LOL. I am truly elated. When I first started this journey, everyone would ask me what did I want to weight. At 298lbs. I really could not pinpoint a pound amount that I wanted to be, so I would say, "All I know is I want to be a single digit size in clothing." I realize that last night I actually accomplished that. Tears of Joy. Sorry so long but I just had to share.
  4. Wow what a difference. You look so much younger in the after photo. Great job. Careful not to get carded. Hahahaha
  5. Currently I am doing very well with my weight loss. I have rocked my sleeve all the way down from 298lbs to 181lbs. I feel like I am doing a fantastic job. I love life and my new changing body. Well lately everyone has been constantly asking me how small am I going to get? My response has been, I don't know either 175lbs or 150lbs where ever my doctor and I feel comfortable. Now mind you I have been with my husband for like 5 years. But I have never asked him what he thought about my weight or for that matter has he mentioned anything. He was very supportive about my having the surgery. He is still very supportive. I just so happen to ask him, at what would like to see me? He responded that he thought I was great at whatever weight I stopped at. I kept pushing for a specific answer. He actually said he would like to see me at 130lbs. I was not angry as my girlfriends were. I was shocked that he had a number or actually even cared what I weighed. When we married I was bigger than when we first met. I must say I never had this number on my horizion. Probably because I can not recall ever being this number in life. In junior high I was 190lbs. I can say that I am actually okay with the number now that I have had time to let it sink in, and realize that with help of my sleeve I can actually reach it, heck maybe even pass it, who knows what is possible. I say all this to say, ask your spouse what they think. I would have never known how he felt about it had I never asked.
  6. Now I am not encouraging you to do this at such a young age, because you do still have a lot of growing and changing to do. But I did see an 11 or 13 yr old mexican girl who had this surgery done. I was on you tube and she talked about her experience, and how it changed her life. I ran across this while to trying to see what an actual VSG surgery looked like. Maybe seeing her experience will help. I am 28, and I know most on here will not agree with me, but if I was able to have this surgery at 16 I would have, but that is me. I was obese all my life. And very obese as a teen. I above all know how mean and spiteful people can be including teachers. I remember praying as a little girl, no more than 11 or 12, that I would be skinny. I wanted to wear the cute little clothes, I wanted to be like all my "friends." I just wanted to fit in. And who doesn't at that age. But I must say that looking back on it I am glad that I had it at 28. I have a wonderful hubby who I know truly loves me for me, I have great kids, and true friends that were here before the skinny me arrived. They all love me for me, nothing has changed becuase I lost weight. I still have my same morals, beliefs, and values. I am still a good person, and I am proud of that. I hope I did not confuse you with my both sides of the argument thinking. I truly wish you the best of luck in your endeavors.
  7. You look fantastic!!! If this is only 3.5 months out I cant wait to see you in like a year.
  8. My pain went away within the first week. I dont consider it to have been that bad as far as pain goes. Now take that with a grain of salt cause my BFF tells me that I have a higher tolerance for pain. I can sort of agree with her, as I had my son with no medication what so ever. I am not one for taking medication. I don't like it and I dont ever want to rely on it. Just remember to walk as much as possible, that will help beyond belief. And take things slow so you can fully recover.
  9. I feel like people with these types of comments and sideways compliments can miss me altogether. I have an aunt who saw me before surgery at a wedding reception. She called me from across the room to come over to her. As I get over to her she tells me, "you sure getting fat." Out of no where, no hello, no it's nice to see you. I just walked away hurt and angry. Well recently I saw this same aunt at a family function, mind you I am 110lbs ligther from 298lbs. We were sitting at the dining room table, she makes the comment that I needed to stop losing more weight because I would start to look sick. I told her I was going to keep going until me and my doctor were happy, and I dont care what hating people like her thought. Call me what you want but you wont call me fat. I say all that to say this, keep it pushing ma. Do you, because some people will never be happy with what you do or choices you make. You did this to be here, be healthy, and happy.
  10. I was having this problem, my trick that helped was putting a little baby powder in there. I buy the Johnson and Johnson kind with cornstarch and Aloe in it. Helps with keeping everything dry and keeps me from scratching myself raw. Hope this helps.
  11. I did notice that I was not having to go as often after surgery. I ended up buying some benefiber the flavored kind, they have little packets that you pour into your Water bottle. It takes a day to work but work it does. Hey, it always makes me feel better.
  12. I don't know your beliefs, but what helped me was prayer. My Godsister came over the night before and prayed with me. My surgeon came in and prayed with me before surgery. The patient educator came in and prayed with me before surgery and the chaplin came in and prayed with me before surgery. Prayer and whom I belive in helped me make it through that time.
  13. I was told they are titanium and they will be around long after you are gone. I was wondering about going through metal detectors, but had no problem when I finally did after surgery.
  14. Recently I have been hearing, "Girl if you get any smaller the wind is going to blow you away." I just laugh because the funny thing is when I go outside and a strong wind blows, in my mind i feel like I dont have to brace myself for this because im not skinny. In reality I do get jared by the wind. My husband has actually had to reach out to steady me. LOL I think it is great.
  15. Can anyone tell me what happens if you have not been taking your B vits? Here's the deal I went to a vit store and I was explaining that I was about to run out of my zip melt dots and I needed to get some more b-12 supplements. He recommended some liquid drops that I thought was B-12 complex. Apparently not. Why I just did not go back to my original store and simply replace my dots, I don't know, Hind sight is always 20/20. Anywho I had been off the dots for a few weeks and then all of a sudden "TMI" alert, while me and hubby were in the midst of adult activities I heard a loud ringing. I mean it was so loud I asked him if he heard it. We stopped all activity immediately because something appearently was wrong. As I try to stand up and walk to the lavatory I was completely disoriented had no control. This has me freaked, hubby got me to do calming breaths for about 2 mins. The ringing finally went away but I got a really bad headache immediately afterwards. The next morning tried to walk around and was still super dizzy. Hubby left work to take me to pcp, I explained that I thought it could be me changing my B-12. All he seemed to have heard was really bad headache, he treated me for a migraine and sent me home no labwork done. The next day I had another "episode" the ringing came and then dizziness. Hubby says I actually fainted, I just remember him putting me in bed. After waking I started praying. I then got on-line and googled vit-b deficency. All my symptoms were there, it seemed like a match to me. So I asked hubby to pick up some vit B-complex. I started taking that same day I haven't had an "episode" since. I decided that I still needed to have some labs done so I called my surgeon and they agreed that I should come in. I went and did the bloodwork and the results should be in today sometime. I was just wondering if anyone else had any insight.
  16. Welcome Welcome Welcome. I think we all ghost the site before we actually join, at least i did. I wish you much success on this new journey in your life. Congrats on your date!
  17. That's a great NSV. Nothing like being a new person but still you. (If that makes any sense.)
  18. AnewMe@28 replied to xxm4ndaaxx's topic in Rants & Raves
People like that I don't even respond to. I am the type of person once I make my mind up about something that's it you can't tell me nothing. It's my decision and bump what others say and the people they know. I am going to make this work for me. And mom, I would take that bet and I will be flossing your 100 bucks in the form of new clothes. So thank you.
  19. Oh I saw it alright I set my autotune just so I would not miss it. I agree with the others anything can fail if you are abusing it, and the way those two women were stuffing their faces with crap food it's no wonder surgery did not work. I keep saying to people no this is not a magical thing that happens and you instantly lose weight with no effort from you, no you will have to make good choices and work your butt off to get your "tool" to help you. And that is all it does and is; A tool to help you achieve your weight-loss goals/needs. I will definately be watching this show through to the end. Interested to see who gets their head issues straight.
  20. Well I have two little ones a boy who is 6 and a girl who is 2. Of course I do not have to tell the 2 yr old anything but the 6 year old really does not question my eating habits. I did explain to him before surgery that mama was going to spend the night at the hospital like when I went to have his sister except this time I would not be coming home with a baby. I told him that the doctor was going to make mama's stomach smaller. Now I did not go into detail that they would cut me open and all that, and since I have lost almost a hundred pounds I think he thought they actually made my huge GUT smaller (like a tummy tuck) because now he says his mama is skinny. LOL. I asked him did he know his mama was fat and he said yes. I lived in total denial that my children knew. Silly me. But he thinks that's how I got so skinny by eating less and exercising more. I think you should tell them that mommy is eating smaller healthier portions and exercising because she wants to be healthy and here for a long long long time.
  21. I am so sorry this has happened. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
  22. Are you logging your food? When I am going through periods of slow losing/stalls I log every morsel that goes into my mouth even gum (has 5 cal). Also are you exercising? That will help too, get up and get moving, change up your routine, add something, do something different. Increase your Protein cut carbs. I would make an appt with your nut and exercise therapist, take your journals, that you have been totally honest in, so they can see what you are doing and be able to give you good advice. I hope something said here helps get you moving. Be encouraged all was not for naught
  23. You have done a wonderful job. Keep up the good work.
