  1. I am researching treadmills and elliptical for home use. I would really prefer a treadmill, but my husband loves the elliptical. My biggest concern is a home machine that is strong enough to support our weight (260/270) and the constant use. What have you purchased and what are the good/bad qualities? I don't care about bells and whistles....I want quality.
  2. Thank you to everybody's encouragement and support. I'm trying not to worry about calories, but focus on protein and water intake. The scale needs not dictate my mood and my ambition.
  3. Hey all. I was banded 6/21. I'm currently on a "soft foods" diet but I'll admit to trying things here and there to see how my band tolerates it. I dropped 8 lbs the first week and then plateaued. Today is my third week and I'm up 2.2 lbs. I feel out of control in my food choices and the amount I'm eating. I have no restriction in the sense that I can eat normal bites, but I do get full, which is something I had rarely experienced prior to surgery. I restricted myself to about 800 calories and when I wasn't losing, I upped the calories and now I have gained. I'm not exercising. I know this needs to happen. My motivation has been diminished by the past few weeks. I know this is the bandster hell. I guess I need words of encouragement...help to make me preservere and get through this any ideas on what I should/could do is appreciated.
  4. The other day at work it was very hectic and I hardly had time to drink water, let alone eat. I definitely felt a tightness, even though I am unfilled (banded 6/21).
  5. I had mine done at the same time 2 1/2 weeks ago. I had attacks last August with an ultrasound that showed stones. I haven't had any attacks since (I think I passed th stones) other than some rare mild discomfort with fatty foods. Initially my surgeon refused to take it out at the same time, citing risk of infection. At my final consultation, he was willing to do it since it had no longer been giving me trouble and I was willing to accept the small risk of infection. For me, I wanted to have only one surgery and one anesthetic. After surgery, he told me everything went perfectly and my gallbladder was healthy. I do sense that I have had more postop pain than those with only the band. My right upper abdomen was very sore, I've had no complications. Good luck!
  6. 262...holding steady.
  7. I am 14 days post op and it's just now really starting to come clean. I've been gently washing my belly in the shower and not picking, although it itched like crazy! However, today the scab on the top incision came off and it is open just a bit and red. I put a band aid on. I don't have an appt for another two weeks.
  8. Can you please update so there is a way to do status updates? I'd also like to be able to add friends from my mobile devices.
  9. My husband called ahead at a buffet and told them my situation. They gave me the 7-10 yr old pricing...which was nice but still ridiculous since my 3 yr old ate more than me.
  10. Literally. The last time I was that constipated was when I was pregnant with my first. That hurt. Is it the Protein? Is this my life now?
  11. I was advised to take a Centrum Chewable. Check with your MD office.

  13. I agree to ask your doctor about advancing your diet. They let me advance to puréed 2 days early and said if that goes well, go ahead and try soft foods. I have been doing great on soft foods here and there and I'm 10 days out. Everybody is different. Call and ask!
  14. I was having those regret moments when my husband brought back the most delicious-smelling cheese pizza and breadsticks for him and the kids.....while I sat and ate my 1/2 cup tuna salad. But, by the end of the meal, my tummy was full and I was satisfied. It's been important to me to feel ncluded in what my family is doing. So, if they are going out I make it work for me and eat what I can. We were at a Mexican place and they were nice enough to purée the chicken tortilla Soup for me. I keep having a talk with myself about how this will all pay off in the end. Stay strong and focused!!
  15. I'm 9 days postop and just noticed the hardness under the large incision. It burns some when I bend over as well. It isn't the port, as it follows the entire length of the incision. I agree that it is probably scar tissue/healing.
  16. Congrats! My son was born on 4/4 you look great!
  17. Mine is on the right and I'm a side sleeper. Ive been using a pillow to support my abdomen on that side when I sleep. As far as sex goes, they told me when I was comfortable. Apparently that was two days ago. Nothing crazy
  18. Oh man, the burping will come. And the hiccups. They are not pleasant! Hang in there. My turn-around day was Day 6. Felt like a new woman. Drink what you can when you can.
  19. She thinks most of what I am feeling is heartburn. Gave me a script which I should have received in the hospital. They are advancing my diet to pureed. No worries on their end. In fact, I woke up feeling a lot better this morning.
  20. I am on full liquids until Friday. Even small sips feel like a challenge sometimes.
  21. Wish I could figure out and differentiate all these new sensations I have. Pressure, tightness, burning....all that come and go. Sometimes related to eating, sometimes two hours later. Sometimes when I change positions. I'm POD 6 and I find I'm feeling tighter and feel like drinking less. Frustrated. I see the NP tomorrow morning.
  22. I will also add that I'm experiencing a lot of heartburn-type symptoms. Most of the time it's hours after eating.
  23. I'm POD #4 and feeling pretty good. I do have some GI gas, but mainly due to lots of dairy in my diet right now. My port site is sore. I had my gallbladder removed at the same time and that hurts more than anything. I'm on full liquids until Friday. I'm definitely starting to desire and crave real food. I can tolerate about 6-8 oz soup at mealtime. Today I had hubby get me soup from subway and blended it with some skim milk. It was SO flavorful compared to everything else. I'm really trying to listen to my stomach and know when I'm full. Sometimes I don't know until I stand up and feel really full.
