  1. Thank you for posting this, I am sure we can all relate so some portion of your post.
  2. You have a two week post op visit then a two month then it is out to six months. I would think you could go to your regular Doc after the first appt, I had staples removed then and talked to the nutritionist, she is checking to make sure you are getting the right amounts of fluids/protein, after that, I would think any Doc could handle it.
  3. Do you have a Trader Joes near? They have a latin style black bean soup that is in the cartons like the broth ( same area in the store too) that is to die for...soooo good! I started drinking that 1 week out. I still like it but add beans and vegies now.
  4. Pure Protein ones are the best, they even have them at Costco where I live. 20g of protein per bar and my fav is chocolate peanut butter...yum!
  5. Yay! Best of luck to you, keep us posted on your recovery!
  6. I have been on a brussel sprouts kick...I cant get enough of them...weird huh? I made meatloaf and mashed potatoes with brussels last night for the family. I ate two bites of meat, no potatoes and over the course of 5 hours probably ate 2 cups of them! Just some pepper and I am good to go! Another thing is ceviche of any kind, I can eat it for all of my meals!
  7. Congrats to you! Best of luck to you and keep us posted on your new life journey!
  8. Yaaay! That is a great feeling isnt it? I am happy for you! Keep up the good work!
  9. Woo hoo! I am sooo excited for you! I am sooo close too, 10 lbs to go! Keep up the good work!
  10. That is great Samuel, thanks for sharing your inspirational story. Best of luck to you on your recovery, keep us posted on your journey!
  11. Yay! So happy for you! Keep up the good work!
  12. I am so sorry for all your issues, my prayers are with you as you recover and start enjoying the benefits of your surgery. Keep us posted.
  13. Basically the Doc needs to list all your weight loss efforts, Weight Watchers, diet pills etc. I had to write down every weight loss plan/pill I have ever tried, wasnt too hard to get a good list quickly. Just make a list and take in to your next visit. Good luck!
  14. I am 10 lbs away...I have been at 210 for a week! I have been exercising 3-4 days a week, treadmill and weight training, sometimes walking at lunch, weather permitting. I am eating my 600-800 cals a day, sometimes a bit more but not much. Guess I need to step up the workouts! TOM, is coming this week so that may be why I havent lost any lately...hopefully. Or maybe the exercising is building muscle...hopefully that is the case! WE CAN DO IT!!!!!! Best of luck to us all!
  15. You are doing great...dont worry! We cannot compare ourselves to anyone else, we are all sooo different. The slower you lose, they less hangy skin, that is the way I look at it! I have been at 210 for the last week almost and yes, I do wonder why I havent lost some more but I am not stressing about it. I have been doing some weight training at the gym so that is probably muscle weight. I think stress can sabotage weight loss too. I figure any weight loss is the step in the right direction. YOU CAN DO THIS!!!!
  16. It will be challenging to get your fluids in, I wont lie to you but just keep it up, very important. I didnt feel hungry for a week or so. I was told I could drink protein drinks as soon as I got home ( next day after surgery) Call your Doc and make sure. Make sure to get your rest and walk as much as you can. Good luck to you!
  17. I would be calling the doc. I was cold the first few weeks, not extremely but somewhat. The blue nails, bad memory...not sure that is ok. Better to se safe than sorry right? Best of luck to you.
  18. Woo hoo! I am glad I am not the only one! I have always loves spicy food but now...cant get enough either! If you can take it...eat it. Spicy is good for the metabolism right?
  19. I have to admit, I do it daily. I need to change that, weekly would be so much beter so I dont obsess about it. If you can do monthly...go for it! I dont have the willpower for that!
  20. Everyone is different, I had a couple drinks 2 weeks out...cranberry with a touch of vodka and had no issues. I have had drinks since then occasionally but way less that I used to. A glass of wine here and there is about it.
  21. Woo hoo! Congrats to you!
  22. I would have absolutely done it sooner! I wasnt heavy till mid to late 20's but if it were available then I would have done it. Like you said, everyone is different as far as "handling" the surgery but I would assume that the younger you are the easier the recovery should be. Why not take care of your health when you are younger, less problems when you get older! Good luck with your decision.
  23. That really suck for you guys. I havent had one tme I felt like throwing up...thanks goodness, I hate that. I would call the doc for sure, there has to be something they can suggest. Best of luck to you...hopefully it is just a phase for you.
  24. Yes, what is bothering you? I was home one day after surgery and I was just tired, no gas, no real pain. I sipped my water, took my liquid vicodin ( might as well not feel any pain right?) and walked the house and slept alot.
