  1. You dont have to eat the same things all the time. You have to be creative in order to succeed. I am not eating the same six food every single day for the rest of my life. I agree with the baileys you need to get rid of that and drink something like water. But mostly you have to want this forever not just temporarily
  2. We all were here before and after. Look how much you have learned. You wil get approved and be successful. You belong with us. Stay and learn that much more. We got your back.
  3. I agree support is the brain tool. At first I thought I was missing so darn much when now I look back and I am not missing a darn thing except trash I was putting in my body every day.

I dont look at sizes anymore. I have shopped at ross and an x large fit then another shirt was a 2x and the same size. I put what fits and dont worry about size. We all look at sizes but I can fit anywhere from a size 15 pants up to an 18 depending on how they are cut. I use to get upset when I had to buy a size bigger then I thought I was but now realize clothes are cut so differently. Just shop til ya drop.
  6. Well her mother should go to jail. I hate when parents let their children eat like that. It's a form of child abuse. I just took care of a 33 year old male who weight 881lbs who has lived with his mother his entire life. It's just abuse and it sucks that parents think its the right thing to do to feed their kid crappy food. Keep doing what you're doing and pray she doesnt get obese.
  7. Getting stuck isnt always your fault. Some things are going to get stuck regardless of how much you chew. That is how you find out what your band will and will not tolerate. I can't eat meat no matter what it wont go down. I could puree it and it will still get stuck. It's painful very painful and can not always be helped.
  8. The only issue I have with this practice is what happens when your filled completely and can no longer get fills. I am almost three years out and need my band the rest of my life. I have 3 cc's and yes I have to do some of the work myself but I am not in any hurry to get this thing filled up and then have nothing to use.
  9. Well being almost 3 years post op if you dont get a hold on your eating now you never will. I could consume a large meal if I chose too. It would only take me more time but I can. You have to know that the band is not going to stop you from eating if you really want too. You have to have control to a certain degree. I agree the things you are eating are really bad choices. If you dont stop it now you're not going to ever change your eating habits.
  10. My cholesterol is perfect. I eat eggs everyday. I'm not eating crappy meat Im eating lean pork, chicken, fish and beef and yes even lean hamberger. Fruit is not in my diet til I reach goal because its full of sugar and I dont want it. Reaching my goal is more important then eating starchy carbs and simple sugars. Its just my preference.
  11. The brunt of your protein should be coming from food form not protein shakes. You would be better off eating a whole chicken after a work out then drinking a protein shake. Liquid calories should be stopped at least by six months post op. Get your protein from other sources besides shakes. I found when I eat more meat the scale moves. Im averaging 4lbs a week now that my doctor changed my diet and my skin is going back in shape nicely
  12. They should already know that information. Its a letter of medical necessity.
  13. Everyone thinks tight is a good thing but its not. If you over eat the food has no where to go but up into the esophagus. I only have 3 cc's in a 10cc band havent had a fill in over a year and am still slowly losing. This wil make my third year being banded in December. Just because we have the band doesnt mean the lower portion of the stomach is not working. It is very much working and if its not getting any food you will not be satisfied and always feel hungry.
  14. Your intestines are in tact so there should be no issues absorbing medications. Something else is going on. Maybe your thyroid is not working at all anymore.
  15. Maybe she is thinking if she gains enough weight she can have the surgery too. I wouldnt buy one ounce of junk food or keep any drinks in the house except bottled water. I also wouldnt take them to get fast food either leave that up to them. But I would tell her if she is doing this thinking she can have surgery that you dont approve. She is young enough to lose the weight without surgery. Sometimes you have to give them tough love. I would not stop talking to her about it even if she thinks your nagging. She will wish she had listened to you at some time. Just my thoughts. I had one over weight son and one skinny son. After I had surgery my overweight son took it upon himself to lose the weight and he is doing good
  16. I would think that medicaid would not approve it if you are only 195lbs and 5 4
  17. No one should ever take iron unless they are deficient because it can cause cardiac arrest especially in men. No everyone does not take vitamins that has the band. I have many friends who have the band and none of us take vitamins and none of us are deficient except in b -12. Most protein shakes are full of vitamins just as much as you would get in a multi vitamin.
  18. He probably said that because if you do not become vitamin deficient you dont need vitamins. Your body wont use it and you will only pee it out. I get my vitamin levels checked twice a year and the only one I have ever been deficient in is B 12 because I dont eat meat. Other than that I get a shot every other week and do not take any other supplements.
  19. Go back to basics like right after surgery. I dont excercise a lot but Im losing because I watch my calories. If you are sedentary you need to eat less then you would if your exercising.
  20. Its called post surgical depression. A lot of people get it and it will go away. You are now faced with what we never thought we would have too and that is to live life without food. Food for comfort, food just because, food for every occasion but just remember when you have lost the weight all those feelings will turn in to happiness. To the above poster my hunger never went away. Everyone is different.
  21. Yes the pulling and pinching is normal. I would get them to check your incision though if it looks like its coming apart it could have dehissed and be infected underneath. I would definitely give them a call to have a look.
  22. If you are two years post op I find it odd to be asking what you should be eating now. As far as protein goes how can it be the year of your birth. What if you were born in the 50's that is not enough protein for someone with a band. 70 to 90 a day. No more than a cup of food with most of that cup being protein.
  23. I would think no citrus after sugery. Only clear liquids.
  24. Well the only thing I can say then if you feel you were treated differently when you were heavy is that people only treat you the way that you let them and if you let them treat you differenlty then who is to blame. I have never been turned down for a job, been treated rudely, always had doors held for me at my heaviest, never had an issue with men treating me badly when I was overweight. I guess it all depends where you live because I never have been treated badly because of my weight.
