  1. Its not about having the money to go to a doctor if you have a surgeon then he is your doctor. In my opinion people want medical advise that should not be given via the internet. I am not being a smart ass but come one people common sense tells you if you have pain of any kind that is not normal call your doctor. Or if your throwing up constantly or cant keep food down these are not questions that should be presented in a forum. I am not talking about the average how long will my port hurt kind of crap I am talking about I have chest pain what should I do.
  2. If you are having chest pain, leg pain, any kind of pain that is not normal to you, hot ports, feeling bad, having issues keeping food down, throwing up constantly, having acid reflux, anything that is not normal CALL YOUR DOCTORS. This is not the place for medical adivice or what could or could not be wrong with you. Just because someone might have the similar thing happen to them it may or may not be what is happening to youi. YOUR DOCTORS GET PAID TO BE ON CALL 24 HOURS SEVEN DAYS A WEEK TO TAKE THESE KIND OF CALLS. Call them, bug them, ask them what is wrong. It is no ones place here to give medical advice EVER.....
  3. Why would it be a hard decision if it is really that bothersome to you. Surgery wipes everybody out and you being 26 I am more than sure you will be just fine however if you dont get it taken care of you might not. Erosion would be an aweful thing of the stomach and then you might have worse issues than you ever wanted. Get it fixed or get it out its not a hard decsions when your health is involved. Its like someone with breast cancer saying I dont know if I should get a mastectomy maybe it will go away.
  4. The band stopping the amount of food you intake is a misconception and people need to realize it. Just because you can eat everything and as much as you want does not mean you are supposed too. Its not going to stop you from making bad food choices. You have to want this and do it. I have lost 70lbs and gving up all the things I love was worth it. Do I love to drink yes but I dont, do I love sweets more than anything but I love living even more. I could with the band sit down and eat a half gallon of ice cream and it wont stop me. I can sit and eat 10 hershey bars and it wont stop me, I can sit and eat as much food as I want and it wont stop me I have to stop myself. No one said it will be easy if they did who was it because it hasnt been easy and everyday is a daily struggle. For those who magically lost weight with no issues well yay for them because I think most people with the band struggle to maintain what they have lost and still reach for that goal. You have to want it you have to stop sabotaging yourself. Isnt the scale moving enough motivation for you. If you dont lose the weight it will eventually lose you. Your choice but make the right choice and healthy eating is not that bad it actually taste pretty darn good. As for the alcohol it wont kill you if you dont stop drinking it but it might if you dont.
  5. I also believe the food moves quickly through the stoma because peristolisis takes over as soon as food enters the stomach and even though there is a pouch food can not sit in something that has a hole in if for very long especially when it is chewed well. I do sometimes feel the food going through and sometimes I dont but I do know after about 20 minutes or so I am full and dont need more.
  6. CALL YOUR DOCTOR. NO ONE KNOWS WHAT IT COULD BE AND JUST BECAUSE IT IS THE SAME THING SOMEONE ELSE HAD IT DOES NOT MEAN ITS THE SAME AS YOU. CALL YOUR DOCTOR.
  7. You should never throw up no matter what some people may say on here call your doctor today
  8. I can not say that I agree with most of this because 1 you can be at your sweet spot and still be hungry. 2. You can out eat your band no matter what and if you eat too much sweets or junk food you will not lose weight. 3. If you dont exercise you wont lose weight or if you do you will stop eventually. This is not realistic of the band and I think that most people that post on here are the ones that are realistic not these two people that wrote the article. I think darn well if you dont diet you are setting yourself up for failure. Yes you most certainly can eat as much as you want if you really want too. Because slider foods will slide right down and you can surely eat more than 2 ounces of them. You have to pay attention to what your eating or you are setting your self up for failure big time.
  9. You only went once in two week you better take something. Yes it is normal for weight loss to stop once you upgrade your diet it will start again
  10. Its not something we should be giving our opinions of. If it is that bothersome you should call your doctor even if he is 3 hours away. It could be something that needs to be looked at and just because someone else had the same symptoms does not mean it is the same thing you are having. Please call your doctor and just explain you can not come right now they may have suggestions of what you can do or go to the emergency room.
  11. You are not supposed to drink 15 minutes before a meal or 30 minutes after. You dont need help to swallow your food. The whole point of not eating and drinking at the same time is so that you wont push the food through the pouch and you will stay fuller longer. If your doctor said dont do it then dont do it.
  12. I like the EAS shakes and after the pureed stage I eat regular good ole healthy food. I am an egg lover so I eat them every day 1 egg with a 3 0z piece of smoked boneless pork chops for breakfast, salad for lunch and dinner whatever. I just do not eat bread, or pasta, but everything else is a go. . I love sugar free pudding too it helps with the want of sweets. I also keep sugar free hard candies on my desk at work for when everyone else is eating cake I will have my own stuff.
  13. You are supposed to be on liquids for the first 24 to 48 hours after a fill its probably not a delayed reaction your probably swollen. I wouldnt eat solids then I would just drink liquids for a few days then try to eat.
  14. What is on the list the doctor gave you? Im sure he gave you one didnt he. 4 protein shakes is not all Im sure you are allowed to have. Everyones pre op diet is different. I didnt have any.
  15. I love the EAS already made Carb control but you dont have to mix them with water yuk. You can use reduced fat milk plus that gives you extra protein. I also like the body fortress from walmart that mixed with some frozen fruit is delish
  16. People you are confusing restriction. Its not about how much you can eat but about how long you can go without being hungry. Two bites of food means you are toooooo tight. You should be able to eat at least a cup of food easily without issues. If you are going 4 to 5 hours without being hungry then that is restriction.
  17. MIO is a water flavor aid like crystal light but its liquid and you can get it in the isle they sell that kind of stuff. I have to put something in my water in order to get it in. Dont worry right now about getting all your calories just worry about healing. You may never reach 1000 calories.
  18. You need to call your doctor. It may or may not be normal but it is not something we should be telling you. They get paid big dollars to be on call for your questions. Call him and ask him about this.
  19. Erin your one cup total is confusing. It should be 1 cup of food three times a day and dont worry about snacking its not necessary to snack. Dont worry about snacking. If you read the lap band diet it says 3 meals a day and no snacking. Of course since you are newly banded you are not going to want to snack. As far as drinking goes I get 4 sixteen ounce bottles and use the MIO in them it helps get them down better.
  20. Bother your doctor that is what he gets paid for. Those questions are not for us to answer it could be something serious. Call him/her they get paid to be on call 24 hours 7 days a week. I dont get why people dont want to call your doctors its not bothering them it may save you from something aweful just call him.
  21. I became very hypoglycemic after surgery. My blood sugar was 41 an hour after a meal at the doctors. You just have to eat more protein to keep you sugar up. I have resorted to eating every 2 hours like a piece of cheese or something with protein. It happens to me every day even if I have eaten so I try to eat frequently but not a lot at one time. This helps some but not always. Good luck with that one.
  22. Cheri I am not going to continue this conversation with you because it is ridiculous that you must keep it going. Do what is best for you and everyone the same I was not trying to scare anyone I dont see any post that point that out. Its so sad that you have nothing more to do than badger posters of which I have seen more than once from you just because you dont agree with them. Move on its not that deep really it isnt.
  23. There is a huge difference between vomiting and spitting up a little. I did talk to my doctor about this very issue and he said people with the band should NEVER throw up. What your describing is hardly vomiting. Vomiting, throwing up is wretching your stomach violently so hard that your band would slip. If your just spitting up as you call it or sliming that is not vomiting or throwing up.
