  1. I'm home from my surgery Weds! As far as the water, my doc wants at least 64 oz - they gave me a baby sippy cup that I think holds 8 oz and they want me to drink one every hour or so. I've had 40 oz so far since I was home and also had fluids in the hospital so I think I'm doing OK. I bought a large water bottle that doesn't have a straw (it has a sipping hole) so I think I'll start using that tomorrow so I can keep better track.
  2. 1. Did you have a lot of pain? Do you have a surgical history? ~ No real surgeries other than my c-section. I was just sleeved Weds and the pain is very bearable; I've started to pass the gas and that has made me feel 100% better. I just have some aching pain around incisions but nothing major. 2. Did you have a preop diet to shrink your liver? ~ My surgeon did not require a lengthy pre-op diet. The day before my surgery I had light Breakfast (oatmeal), full liquids for lunch (yogurt/applesauce) and clear liquid for dinner (popsicle and broth). 3. Did you keep up your pain medication? ~ I got my pain meds pretty regularly in the hospital but I came home this morning and only have had one dose since midnight last night. 4. How old are you? ~ 36
  3. My doc uses a 32 but doesn't staple right up to it, and he says in his experience it makes a perfect size. I've been able to handle clear liquids no problem the past few days and start on full liquids tomorrow so we'll see!
  4. I was sleeved Weds 8/10 and just came home today. I still have some localized gas pain and some soreness, but otherwise just tired. I get to start full liquids tomorrow so hopefully they will go down OK.
  5. Best of luck! I'll be one day behind you - I have to be at the hospital at 6 a.m. Wednesday.
  6. Amazing . . . thanks for sharing!
  7. If she was dropped from insurance during the LOA period, she would have had to elected COBRA then. She's now outside of the eligibilty period to elect COBRA. Good luck, I hope you're able to find a position that better suits you AND that has insurance that will cover your hubby's surgery.
  8. Could it be residual gas pains? Hope it gets better soon, if not I would give your surgeon's office a call just to be safe.
  9. I am on Wednesday and can't wait!
  10. I've already been taking calcium and a multi-vitamin daily for years, so it will just be a matter of adding the B-1 and B-12 sublingual in for me. I will have to up my calcium (I was at 1200 mg daily, will up to 1500) and a little additional mulit-vite. I agree with others though, SO worth it!
  11. I have a sample packet of this. I'm going to be doing all my 'taste-testing' this weekend so that I know what to go buy next week before my surgery. I'll report back after I taste it.
  12. My food list for my full liquid stage includes cream soups that are strained. Seems like a cheese soup would fit that bill?
  13. I would LOVE to not be a wide width anymore. I could shop at all the cute places instead of just Payless.
  14. Yikes, that's crazy! I remembered a really heightened sense of smell when I was pregnant. I hope it's not like that for me, I couldn't even grocery shop because the smell in the meat dept made me nauseous all the time.
  15. Thanks for sharing this! I am definitely already trying to mentally gear myself up for those food situations - we have lots of work meetings with food, and it will definitely be hard.
  16. My plan is surgery on Weds - off work Weds-Fri PTO plus the weekend - work from home Monday/Tuesday (all computer work) - back in the office Wednesday. I'm really hoping it happens that way!!
  17. Thanks for sharing! Sounds like you had a backslide, but no gain is great . . . just chalk it up to a brief derailment, but now you're back on the right "track" so to speak. Good luck to you!
  18. My surgeon only requires a one-day pre-op diet. However, my surgery is on a Wednesday (8/10) and after this weekend I plan to do high-protein, low-carb with a protein drink for at least one meal for Sunday, Monday and Tuesday before surgery. I really need to get my brain wrapped around my new eating protocols now.
  19. Wait, what? Muscle being more dense than fat means that all else being equal, a more muscular 160 lbs is likely to be more 'compact' than a less muscular 160 lbs. Size 4 is likely to be more muscular than size 10. If that's what you were saying I apologize for trying to correct you.
  20. I only have a one-day pre-op diet of liquids, I honestly can't see how adding some veggies will cause any harm. That said, it's best to follow your surgeon's recommendations. You might give them a call?
  21. I bought a single serving of the roadside lemonade from Nectar at my hospital's boutique (they sell lots of different products there). I'm going to be trying it on Thursday, will come back and post.
  22. I just bought this one, I haven't used it yet but my stepson has made a couple smoothies and it blends REALLY well.
  23. I'm not diabetic and still pre-op, but I seem to recall reading lots of posts on here about people who are no longer on diabetes meds since their sleeve surgery. ??
  24. Did you do weight watchers meetings or online? If you recorded your weight monthly online for 6 months, you could print a record of that from the WW site (or get the records from your meeting leader/secretary). Not sure if that works or not?
  25. Congratulations! Thanks for sharing your thoughts, what an inspiration!
