gamergirl...I love reading your posts & your blogs!!! You are REAL and that is what I love. I've noticed it helps me when feeling down to write, to read, to just do something that I enjoy and the feeling sometimes passes. Chin up, you are doing great and keep the comments coming!

You need to take some "me" time and so does your hubby. Look at pictures that you have with family members. Take a walk down memory lane. Take a drive in the country and listen to the birds sing. Those would be my happy places to go to. You are in my prayers....... and remember "this to shall pass". :-)

I'm REALLY glad you shared this! It's worrying me because I am super Alpha female. This shaking, sweating business is NOT me. It makes me feel weak and I don't like that feeling. I go toe to toe with men daily at work and I can't be the weak, shaky one.
I agree, I have to let the emotions come. Luckily for me, my husband and kids are very giving people too, so they do take very good care of me when I need it. I got lucky that way

Better you find out now so that you can start making necessary adjustments. That is one of my fears. A guy that I was dating asked me not to get surgery! It was almost offensive. When I went to the psych eval, the therapist explained that there are some people who would rather you stay larger because in some way or another, it makes them feel better. You are doing what you need to do for yourself...and that is all that matters! Good riddance!

What a good idea to go through the closet! I think I will do that this weekend (trying to get the house cleaned before my surgery on the 10th. There is not a hugh difference in seasonal clothes here in Texas (especially after 20 years in Iowa) but there are quite a few pieces of clothing that I am praying I will never be able to wear again. I have a "REWARD" shopping list for both personal and work clothes for when I meet my goals. Good luck and thanks for the idea.

cleaning out my closet was emotional for me, i did it after surgery. i kept thinking oh i can still wear this...then my friends would say absolutely not! i still have about 40 pounds left to lose, but it was hard accepting that my body had FINALLY changed. i still see myself at 310 pounds, even tho im at 190. there are days im super proud of myself and other days i dont see any progress. i didnt keep any clothes and i wish i had, so i recommend keeping one whole outfit just to try on every few months, during those rough periods. congrats on making the best decision for yourself! your life will be changed so many ways for the better! and welcome to the vsg family!

Jennie, I feel your pain and your anticipation of what is to come in the next several months. As a guy, I am not a big clothes hound, nothing like my wife anyway who sounds quite a bit like you with clothes. Anyway, I had surgery 4 months ago and Sunday was the first time I went through my closet to clean house....it was eye opening! As I pulled each item out, dress clothes, sweaters, sports jerseys, jeans, etc, I was shocked and appalled at how big I was just a couple months ago.
What I was not expecting was to see all of my favorite "go to" clothes be stuffed in a trash bag to be sent to Goodwill. This also included my winter coats that I could wrap around my body 1 1/2 times. My first impression is "holy $#!%, I have to replace my whole entire closet for the most part, that is going to be expensive!" Then I thought how great it is to be able to shop in the normal section of the store rather than try to find those one or two things that I feel might fit and look ok on me. I completely decimated my closet and I realized just how few clothes I have left now that all of the "too big" stuff is gone! One of the greatest "victories" I have experienced because it was very visual.
Jennie, you will be utterly shocked when you try on the clothes you are setting aside for the spring! Even if you feel they are too small for you now, you may be surprised and you will find them way too big when you go back to them. I had this happen with a few items that my wife bought me that were too small to wear prior to surgery. I never wore them because I missed that window of opportunity between too small to way too big.
You have no idea how being AVERAGE or NORMAL can feel so good. It may seem like a weird thought right now but you will know when you hit that point and it is nothing short of amazing!

congrats on your successes, you have been in onederland for awhile-you have lost almost 55 lbs - concentrate on that!!!
when is the last time you were under 200 lbs??? we all lose at our own pace - this is not a race - you have your whole life ahead of you - slow and steady.....
remember, its AGAINST the LAW to compare your weight loss, time it is taking you to lose weight, don't ever ever compare to others
you've made a couple of oooops, oh well - every day is new-you can do this-stay on program, drink all your water always-- be strong

Happy Belated Birthday! While I do like reading everyone's numbers and nsv's, I really appreciate it when people write about their emotions! My emotions run high and I think I will have the "fat brain, skinny body" issue as well.
Congrats on living life and getting back on track!

At nine months out now...I STILL try to inhale my food when I get too hungry. Then the paaaiiin hits. I have to consciously tell myself when I sit down, "eat slowly, eat slowly, chew a lot, put the fork down." otherwise, the full sensation does not register until i've swallowed too much. I fear that this may have led to some capacity increase, but I could be totally wrong. It just seems that if there is pain in the sleeve, it's being taxed.... I don't want to stretch it. That would be my concern. That, and just plain overeating.

I believe you can lose as much weight as you need to ... but with a twist.
It really is up to you, how compliant with the rules you are willing to be and the exercise regimen you are committed to. I am 15 months out and been at goal since last March. I have lost 120 pounds and still have excellent restriction. I know that if I wanted to, I could lose more, but at this point, I am afraid that would mostly be muscle.
If you read the boards, you will see posts from many folks who will complain about not losing weight, but will also say that they are not exercising or they are not eating the right foods. As far as the foods go, I think we all probably started out with a poor relationship with food and the sleeve doesn't really address that. So, unless you are willing to confront and correct that, this may be an issue for you, too.
Exercise can also be a challenge for us as it may have never been a part of our lives and starting it now is difficult.
Bottom line is, you will get out of the sleeve exactly what you put into it. If you can be compliant and do the right thing, I don't believe there is any limit to the amount of weight a sleever can lose.

    hi there
i think you are doing great
your NUT did put pressure on you, telling you could lose 58 lbs by the end of the year, go at your own pace, and don't feel pressured - do how you are doing - which is terrific
i can eat bread, i also love sandwiches, - had one slice once - just didn't feel it was worth it - so i don't have bread anymore
you've been around the block enough to know we all have our stalls - we gotta ride them out
its hard to see a before and after picture - and really see a difference with yourself - but trust me i see the difference and you look great
in my case - i just watched as the numbers on the scale were going down - i never took my measurements, boo hoo - one day i looked in the full mirror after my shower - i stared and said "wheres my stomach?"
as far as being able to eat anything - as long as your doing your protein, measuring your calories and carbs - you know when to stop eating - you can't ask for me
    your pictures are great
    take care

    hi Melissa
congratulations on your pending sleeve - we're all excited before being sleeved.
I was one of those horrible people that did go on a food "funeral" eating way too much - like i was never going to eat them again. its not true that you can't have whatever you want later after surgery, just in small portions.
i'm 6 months post op - never never eaten a sweet, cuz that is my BIG downfall. i don't want to eat a "little" bit, thats like teasing myself.
My advice pre-op concerning the food, you can eat a little more before your WLS, but don't overdue. i regret pigging out too much. whats done is done.
6 months post up im down 75 lbs - 20 left - so i've done pretty well.
some people do lose some hair. i was one the lucky ones - that didn't have any problems with hair loss.
the subject has been spoken of the board - so write a question.
my other regret is that i never did i BLOG. you've obviously got that covered -good for you
    best wishes
    good luck

OMG - give yourself a break - at 4 days many, many people are still recuperating. walking very slowly, sipping water - this is what many newbies do. For you to walk around the block - thats probably ok, but don't overdue it. No marathons, you are recovering from MAJOR surgery. Give yourelf sometime - and you will be there with the other losers, but you'll be a winner.
