  1. story behind your profile name? hmmmmmmmmmmm............ over the past 13 years - i have become this 3 times over just like being at GOAL - I plan to be one for the rest of my healthier, happier, longer life kathy
  2. pjb84 by now, you are post op - how is it going??? hope no problems all those doubts you had pre-op are very common some people experience buyers remorse after the fact too for most/all, those feelings disappear "fruitless struggle" oh no, please don't feel like that i am one month shy of being 2 years post op (one year at goal ) my health has totally improved!!!! i no longer take diabetes, high blood pressure meds!!!! no more CPAP my biggest "reward" is now having to only take 1/2 my epilepsy medication!!!! I have never been happier, self-confident and great looking  in my whole life as many/most/all of "us" say "the only regret I have is not having the sleeve surgery earlier" holding a glass of Water up to you and your happier, healthier, longer life speedy recovery kathy
  3. Newbie (aka Susan ) 28 lbs!!! WooHoo!!! do your best with getting in your Protein but liquids/drinking is more important for now not getting in all your Water in at this early stage happens to some best advice is to take slow, slow sips. try room temperature water, that seems to work for some many people like chrystal light popsicles are also good water is ESSENTIAL for the "rest of your life" you should/need to get in at least 64 oz of water a day dehydration is no fun, you don't want to go their as others have can't tell you when you will satisfy your liquid "quota" the one thing we all have in common is that "we're all different" some people have no trouble drinking plenty of water very quickly PO others take one, two weeks or more - hope you are somewhere in between sorry about the rash and little gas both will gradually improve (know that doesn't help you any though ) bad morning breath especially one week PO is common - suck it up as with everything else, it will get better glad to hear you are taking your Vitamins - gotta continue that forever too tummy feeling sore like you have done 500 push ups that will improve too!!!! no more diabetes meds!!!! party dance, party dance other health issues will gradually get better as time passes too most of us experience bumps here and there hold on, a great new life is waiting for you you are on the road to a healthier, happier, longer life continued healing, quick speedy recovery good luck Kathy congrats
  4. Sleevie 85% of the tummy is cut out during WLS there is an expression "here" just because you can, doesn't mean you should don't "test" your sleeve to see what and how much you can eat!!!! as OP said, if you are unwittingly eating something equivalent to a slider, you won't feel any restriction again, don't push/or test what or how much you can eat people have been shot for less especially at only 5 weeks (and reallly many, many more months and maybe always) you should measure the proper amount to eat that way you won't eat more - no testing ok??? as you wisely said, you must stay diligent!!!! good luck kathy
  5. charlie and klaker I know there are many cookbooks out there concerning bariatric surgery their is one of those "for dummies" book i do have it "somewhere", don't remember the title go to your bookstore - they can help you hopefully others will chime in good luck kathy
  6. gamegirl how wonderful is that???!!!! helping, encouraging others!!! i "think" everyone (me too) talks alllllot about their new life (sleeve) occupational hazard - oh well.......... I haven't experience what your referring too, sounds great though you are maybe like the "pied piper" in sleeveland??? btw - how's the other sleever (DH) in your family doing??? hope he is doing as terrific as you the two of you supporting each other must be great!!! keep up the good job kathy congrats

  10. Brandy i am almost 2 years PO and i never had that problem As "they" always say.... the one thing we all have in common is that we're all different!!! maybe for what ever reason this is occuring to you since your so early PO? hopefully your situation will improve sooner than later if anything - since i weigh so much less, i sweat much less good luck kathy
  11. a_gray_ i can never sleep on my back by the 3rd night it was "ok" to sleep on my side it gradually improved each night it was kindof like a headache it was really bad, then all of a sudden was gone - don't remember when - it was just gone I really don't know how i managed the first 2 nights i know it was awful i was sleeping like a baby within 3 weeks easier said than done, but hang in there good luck sweet dreams kathy

  13. Gia Nice to see you again 450 calories does sound pretty low your doc wants you to eat more???? from a laymen, sounds like a good idea don't feel like eating, but you should/must eat!!! do you get nautious if you eat, get sick/vomit changing upping your calories will probably/maybe help you lose more weight also, eating so little 3 months PO, could make you weak et al good for you that you are drinking plenty of Water so sorry to hear you are going through a bunch of personal problems hope things will work out sooner than later glad you realize you must continue to work on yourself - despite hurdles of life you are dealing with congrats on 55+ lbs gone!!!!! keep up the good work good luck kathy

  15. 16. momomomo ooooooops............. you just hi-jacked this thread LOL you changed the topic in the middle of someone elses topic!!!! people have been shot for less!!!! since you are a newbie - i won't turn you in - THIS TIME!!!! it will be our secret losing 16 lbs is great!!!! over the next months +, you will probably have stalls, weight won't change you can't/shouldn't get frustrated (pot calling the kettle black ) follow all the rules - the weight will come off frequent good saying on the board "the one thing we all have in common is that we're all different" people will always lose lose different amounts of weight over different time periods NEVER compare yourself to others!!!! again, people have been shot for less
  17. SassyTink WooHoo, Woo Hoo!!!!!! party dance, party dance being so pro-active, persistant - way to go!!!!! next friday WLS??? holy moly those feelings your dealing with - nerves, excitement totally normal those feelings will increase over these next few days you made the wise decision to have this life changing surgery!!!! don't 2nd guess yourself now, of after the fact if you continue to work as hard as you did before surgery, as you will now - wow, what a success you will be!!!! by the way, damnnnn those insurance companies good luck speedy recovery kathy what a success you will be/are i have confidence, i know you will do great
  18. shelly major closet cleaning today good for you sounds like you are prepping, excited for surgery next month i know you will lose the weight and keep it off............. but being rid of those "big" clothes is extra incentive in other words you can't go back to your old ways, having your old big clothes right there if you gain weight unless you want to spend lots of money buying "new" big clothes buying new smaller clothes............thats a different matter good luck next month speedy recovery kathy
  19. first day I have felt hungry sissy getting all your Protein in???? woo hoo!!!! it is common not to get that full feeling when you are only on liquids once you primarily start eating soft foods/solids - your restriction will "kick in" protein, protein and then protein very important to drink as much as possible until you start "sloshing" around!!! keep up the good work continued success good luck kathy
  20. surgery November 15th. trouble getting down fluids. make me nauseated. Tiki surgery was Friday??? and you are still around to talk about it sounds like things will work out then!!!! you JUST had WLS - gotta let your tummy heal, right now its sore and mad at you being nauseous happens sometimes (that knowledge doesn't help you though ) like i said, you are brand new - getting used to your sleeve try some room temp Water (not cold), that might go down easier be patient, things get better day to day - popsicles are great hope you feel better soon speedy recovery kathy
  21. for me..............pistachio nuts i luv them!!!! i can eat soooooooooo many without blinking an eye so i've had to get used to not eating them kathy

  23. callchrissy How long before the tummy rumbling subsides? wow, was that your tummy I heard last night??? some people have those noises for awhile - others will subside sooner but..........no way to tell you the one thing we have in common, is "that we're all different" you also might be experiencing hiccups/burps these can be noisy too, but things eventually come to a head good luck continued success kathy
