HarpersMom Happy you are happy about your upcoming NEWBIE OMG you'll have 2 kids in diapers better you than me i'm "pretty" sure you will have to do another 6 month for insurance as with everything else, docs are all different on certain instructions i've heard some people say they had to wait 2 years before they are "supposed" to get preggo other docs might say sooner check with your doc - as with everything else, you should always listen to YOUR surgeon there is a thread here for "preggo's called Pregnancy with Gastric Sleeve Surgery check it out what a way to start the new year good luck with he/she kathy congrats

  5. most of the vets 3 yrs + probably don't follow the app anymore.. seems like there are more vets hanging around on the boards these days looking to help others, but also their/my needs are helped too vets et al stil need support, with issues such as maintaining other things too, supporting and answering OP questions many/most people join boards like this for help to their questions/support pre-op and then after surgery this lasts for about 12-18 months frequently busy with enjoying doing things they might not have done before WLS enjoying their new lifestyle thats great - even though we miss many of them i continue to enjoy being here I am also busy enjoying my new wonderful life, but......... being on the boards helps/"reminds" me/others too - about things i/we must do to continue to be successful VETS know what to do, but it does get hard some/many times to always follow all the rules VETSI(me) do "slip" up sometimes, graze, eat too much - so its good for me to stay here i also enjoy answering questions to newbies especially - since i asked those questions 2 years earlier kindof like "paying it forward?" i'm so happy with my life - but as i said - for me coming to see all you other sleevers reminds me to keep on my toes how could i forget?? keep absorbing/using all the good info you will continue to get try and start losing weight now, even before pre-op diet the more you lose now, the less you have to lose post op (obviously ) DOS 12/15/11 235 lbs 12/14/13 130 lbs GOAL still 5'3 good luck kathy
  6. can not donate due to my surgery. . not in the best interest of my health. butterfly_gal i am so very sorry for your mom dealing with cancer i know you and family and friends are dealing with so much sadness/feelings about your mom i can only imagine your feelings that at this time that you are unable to proceed with donating some of your liver i would continue your discussion with surgeon, seeing if anything can be done to change his mind maybe he could have more consultations/discussion with your bariatric surgeon, discussing your good/improved health since WLS but.............as you wisely said - get another opinion you love your mom so very much - want to help her its easy for me to say, but - try not to blame yourself if you are not allowed to proceed in helping your mom 'm sure your mom is very happy for your success/weight loss keep trying to make it work - hope you can be successful thoughts going out to mom and you good luck my friend take care kathy

  12. "How was your pain at this point?" Andrew Welcome home sorry you are having a little pain/discomfort if your fever continues, call your surgeon (today is friday, so don't wait for the week-end) if nothing else, he can reasure you that all is well, or tell you this or that for help there is a saying here on the board "the one thing we all have in common is that we're all different!!! in other words for the most part no two people have the exact story regarding their surgery journey/weight loss/et al many of us (me) have few problems or none immediately after surgery never compare yourself to others - people have been shot for les things do usually improve sooner than later take care feel better good luck kathy
  13. Tony some, many people have pain in their shoulder related to gas Its not pleasant, but as everything else, it DOES get better sooner than later it took many/ME for people to sleep on their side their is a thread on that subject (i don't know how to get a link to you, but i'm sure someone else can help with that) thats terrific that you are getting so much Protein in from the shakes (yechhh ) but..........hope the doc enforced that Water is very, very important at your early stage drink now, sip, sip and then sip some more water will continue to ALWAYS be important, necessary (at least 64 oz) for the rest of your healthier, happier, longer life glad you feel "pretty" ok except those couple of issues rest and take it easy if possible you just had major surgery (if you forgot ) good luck speedy recovery kathy
  14. grateful for receiving the surgery and the outcome - i have been hired for a job that is going to change the course of my life!!! hey dude glad you are so happy that the sleeve and your hard work brought you success many times - people/me isolated themselves while being overweight, don't want to go out, be seen by others hopefully, you'll become more confident in the future, meet more people, and make friends, not feel so lonely starting a great new job having wonderful people like us around what more can you ask for keep up the good work good luck with the new "life changing" job bet its gonna be great I have confidence in you here is to your frist 9 months, with many many many!!!! more to follow keep up the good work for the rest of your healthier, happier, longer life good luck kathy congrats

  17. TonyaMac It makes sense that after you've/anyone has lost a bunch of weight - their extra layer of fat is decreasing, thus you will be colder i see some people here that are barely post op and already cold!!! Dont' understand that, but oh well!!! through my entire weight loss period, now being 105 lbs down/goal - i am never really cold!!! Am i the only one??? I know i'm not suffering being as hot anymore - that is wonderful i don't wear a flannel nightgown, but i can wear a regular long sleeve nightie never could before cuz i would get too hot wellllll.... that is my story and i'm stickin to it warm thoughts to all kathy
  18. Jayson immediately after WLS doc told me to take prilosec every morning with my other meds i take it once a day - and i believe it will be for life - which is no prob for me - if it continues to prevent the possibility of me having heartburn ask your doc/nut about your concerns/when to take no one can give you the correct answer for YOU, except your doc here's a quarter to make the phone call OMG, do they even make phone booths anymore??? hmmmmm - better pick up your cell............ since you didn't say otherwise, you are probably doing well post op speedy recovery good luck kathy

  22. HarlemLoser I don't think they are trying to bribe you sounds like they are scared that you might have complications or even die they are worried about and for you I've heard other spouses report similar things about family/friends being very concerned a problem might occur during surgery they are just worried for/about you, and scared offering you money to get special food/trainer - (new one for me) is again just showing their concern, wanting you to do anything to lose weight, but concerned about surgery maybe show them this board/posts - good stuff (no vomitting or farting issues ) you said they are supportive - thats great post surgery i believe they will be their and help you please don't second guess yourself about surgery next week you made the wise decision to do the sleeve cuz you know you've tried everything else the sleeve will help you lose weight, but its no easy ride you have to work with the sleeve - and it will work with/for you good luck next week speedy recovery kathy
  23. Jls93001 broth, Water, popsicles are what people usually drink the first week the most important thing is to stay hydrated you must push yourself to drink, and drink and then drink some more take slow sips, sllllllow drinking above liquids the first week and a bit is more important than getting in all your protein many people /ME - can't tolerate the shakes the first week tummy can't hold it keep it down after a while/soon protein will be very important in your new life the expression is protein first (dense protein like chicken to me is the best because it keeps me full longer) I can see the determination in your eyes you will do great good luck with WLS speedy recovery kathy
  24. Idlewood trying to write quietly if you are trying to sleep you are one day out??? little bondage is good for you/kinky too itchy scalp??? thats a new one to me don't scratch, probably won't help!!!! only minor complaints???? good!!! sounds like you are a happy camper with your new bff the sleeve thats a great start ok, no pushing, i'm moving over on the loser's bench just for YOU back to sleep - sweet dreams good luck speedy recovery kathy
