November 18, 201312 yr Tolerable in about 3 days...two weeks before it was comfortable! The surgery and associated byproducts are all distant memory now (6 mos. out)...hang on and get ready for one heck of a ride!
November 18, 201312 yr It took me about 3 weeks to be able to sleep on my side comfortably. It was a great night!
November 18, 201312 yr I am one week out. I keep pillows on both sides so I don't roll. Did this with gall bladder surg too
November 18, 201312 yr About 3 weeks for me, and I had lots of back pain from laying in the same position. That was one of the worst parts for me.

November 18, 201312 yr 3 weeks for me, and I was so happy when I could finally turn in my sleep like I used to. Ahhhhh!
November 18, 201312 yr OMG. I need to sleep on my side !! , I didn't know that this was a thing !! Oh, it's a thing! Tight incisions, overall soreness, and gravity will remind you to stay on your back. At one point you'll be able to ease over to your side - a body pillow can help.
November 18, 201312 yr It was a couple of weeks for me. I slept in a recliner until I could sleep on my side and that helped because I'm not a back sleeper.
November 18, 201312 yr I started about 5 days out. However, I did have to sleep with my pillow wedged a little under side to keep me turning to far. I can sleep on right side much better than left. I can lay on right for about 20 minutes or so with pillow but not comfortable.
November 18, 201312 yr I can lay on my stomach with very little discomfort. I didn't know it was a thing either. I am still in the hospital. What bothers me is gas and diarrhea. And I am ready to go home. Waiting on the doctor.
November 18, 201312 yr I'm a little over three weeks post and I'm now able to sleep on either side. However, I've noticed that my hips hurt after sleeping or lying on a side for too long, so I still lie on my back as well. I think I was able to lie on my sides for short periods of time about two weeks post.
November 18, 201312 yr Author Aghhhh thank you all! I'm about 3 weeks out and I guess just haven't built up the courage it still feels kinda funny. But I am looking forward to it! (:
