  1. Yep, I can relate. Before surgery I felt like I was hot most of the time even hot flashing at 41 with the exception of my office, which is freezing year round. I now travel with a light jacket or sweater. I keep a wrap at work as well as my heater close at hand. I didn't think it would happen to me, but boy was I wrong.
  2. Amazing! Sending wRm happy vibes to you. Have fun in Portland.
  3. Hi I agree with Anca, I will be six weeks post op tomorrow. I have moved on to most foods except certain vegetables and salads. Canned tuna, boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, fish--tilapia, salmon, chicken etc. Try eating something of your choice and take it slow. Good luck!
  4. Great come back, very dignified!
  5. Congratulations on your surgery.
  6. Hi I lost 10 pounds in the first week but at least 5 of those were the pounds I regained from the IV fluids. I'm finding that if the scale isn't moving much in pounds the inches are adding up.
  7. That is so awesome, keep workingn that sleeve.
  8. Congrats! How great that your numbers healthwise are much improved. Also the 40lbs is awesome as well. I can relate to losing more inches than actually pounds. Keep up the good work.
  9. My real age is 43.6 and I turned 42 in May.
  10. Heather ~ that is awesome! Congratulations on all of your monumental achievements. You look wonderful, but more importantley you look very happy!
  11. Dawn, that's awesome. Keep it up!
  12. Welcome and congratulations on your choice to take back your health! You'll find that the folks here on the VSG forum are super helpful and provide wonderful insight into the journey your embarking on. Continued blessings.
  13. I agree with everyone else, go for it! At 42, I'm considering having braces put on as well. This will complete the transformation.
  14. FINALLY! The scale moved yesterday, .5lb and another 1.5lbs this morning. Today I'm 4 weeks out from surgery and I've lost 22lbs including the 2 lbs from this week. I have been on pause for about week and half. I'm really excited because as my own personal goal I wanted to be at least 26lbs lighter by my 1-month follow-up at the surgeons office next Wednesday. That'll be 10% of my original weight gone. Even though I've read enough about stalls on the boards being in one eludes all rational thought to the point of being consumed by ways and thoughts on how to get the scale moving again. I know that folks say don't focus on the scales or pounds, yadda, yadda, but as those who've been here know that's darn near impossible. But the good news to that is while on pause I did lose inches, because I went shopping in my closet and was pleased with the results, especially as I am returning to work on Monday. Also like many I HATE THE GYM, EXERCISING in all forms. However I know it is an essential part of the program so I am trying to be faithful and work it. Having said that I have found a method that is easing the pain of spending an hour hill walking on the treadmill greatly. My e-reader and a good book. The hour passes fairly quickly, thank goodness! Just wanted to share.
  15. Lovely! Lovely bride and ceremony. Congratulations on your successful weight loss and your nuptials.
  16. Irene, you've done an excellent job! Best of luck with your cosmetic procedures.
  17. I was like that too and gained weight back before my surgery. I still crave certain foods, but the cravings are short lived and are in head. Once you have surgery, you'll do fine!
  18. 7 to 10 days may be enough for you. Everyone responds to the surgery, anest. differently and it depends on the type of job you have--active vs. sedentary. I have taken 4 weeks (partly because I needed to use up some leave) but could have returned at 10 days as I wasn't in much discomfort. The only issue I would have had would have been eating, which I would have been on the pureed stage at that point. If you plan really well and are not in any pain or having discomfort, you should be fine returning to work by 9/26. Good luck!

I'm about 3 1/2 weeks out and I find that I have more head hunger than actual hunger. I crave certain things, but I have not given in to any of the cravings. Distracting yourself until the craving passes which is only a couple of minutes. I tried one method that someone mentioned somewhere on this forum, I tried on smaller clothes to see what now fits, etc. A good portion of my size down clothing is starting to fit. Yay!
  20. I return to work next week going into my 6th week....here's my plan. I plan on taking a Starkist Tuna pouches, small bottle of mayo, homemade chili, boiled eggs, yogurt, protein shakes and/or protein bars, crystal light or something similar for my water, small container of fruit. I can't think of anything else at the moment.
  21. Gas pain is the absolute worst! As others have stated movement helps considerly. I had Gas-X chewables with gas pain in my upper chest and shoulder. Drinking tea helps especially decaf mint tea, it felt soothing to my insides. My surgery was on 7/22 and by the end of week 2 I felt much much better as I'm sure you will too.
  22. I have the same problem almost. The pain in my left side has finally stopped. But the fixed waist band of my low rise jeans are still a bit uncomfortable. I believe my tummy area is still swollen a bit and I'm attributing that for the tightness in the waistline as my jeans are loose in the hip/thigh area. I recenly purchased Danskin capris from Walmart with elastic waist and are super soft, I could leave in these things.
  23. I'm so glad someone asked this question as I've been experiencing this over the past week. I'm 3weeks out from surgery. It can be quite disorienting at first. Happens when sitting awhile then standing, bending then standing upright also when getting up from bed.
  24. Excellent job! 69lbs in 3 months is freakin' awesome. Keep up the great work!!
