  1. I'm so glad you asked this question! I was getting ready to ask the same thing! I'm still on my pre op diet. I get sleeved the 25th, and I hope I didn't ruin it for myself because I got so anxious last night that I binged on a bologna and cheese sandwich, and two small bierocks. They were so good, but dammit I hated myself this morning.... ugh.
  2. Ok, so I spend quite a bit of time with my dad and step mom. I haven't told them I'm having this surgery, and we go to the farmers market every Saturday and then have lunch after. They are going to ask questions. And I want to tell them, but I'm afraid of what they will say... maybe judgement... but my question is, how do you keep this a secret from people you spend a lot of time with?
  3. This is amazing! I can't wait to try it out!! Do you know how long they last? I didn't know if since they are made of egg if they will keep for very long? Anyone know?
  4. Mine is the july 25th. Almost there!
  5. I am so glad I'm not the only one who got this migraine. I am on day 2 of 10 day diet, and last night I had the worst migraine in the world, I woke up this morning without one, but I think that's because I cheated and ate food last night around dinner time. I was so positive this diet would be a walk in the park... sigh...
  6. So yesterday I was doing really good with day 1 of my diet, then my family went to a restaurant to eat last night, and just out of pure habbit, I ordered what I shouldn't have, completely ruining the whole day of work I had done. As you all can relate to this, (I hope) did this one meal completely ruin my PO diet? Or will I survive?
  7. So! Today is day ONE of my preop diet, and I have a TON of sugar free jello, chobani greek yogurt, and chocolate protien drink powder. ALL SWEET STUFF. And of course I'm craving salt. Is there anything I can have?
  8. I bought Weight Loss Surgery for Dummies and I am loving it!
  9. Ok so, I have been on a roller coaster for a year and a half trying to get approval for this surgery from insurance. I was so excited the day that I finally got the call that I was approved that I was crying. Now. That being said I am SO NERVOUS. This is surgery. I have to be put under. So anytime that I try to confide in my mom or husband about my fears, they try and convince me that its ok if I don't want the surgery anymore. That we can wait until I'm ready, or that I can do it on my own. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I have been after this forever! If I wasn't 1000% sure I wanted this surgery I would have stopped after the first denial letter. Not keep trying STILL after the third!!! Ugh! Don't sit there and try and talk me out of it, talk to me about how great it is that I'm doing it! And how great it will be afterwards!!! UGH!
  10. I'm in Topeka! I'm going to Tallgrass as well. My surgeon is Dr. Hu. My srgery is the 25th! I'm on facebook as well if anyone else needs a buddy.. lol Caitlyn Journeyofafatkid
  11. I'm in Topeka! My surgery is in 19 days with Dr. Hu at the Tallgrass bariatric surgical center here in town! I can't wait!
  12. I feel your pain! I even put a countdown widget on the homepage of my phone! 20 more days! I'm really anxious to get there, but I'm more worried that in a year I won't have lost any weight...
  13. Yeah initally I had a lot of trouble because my BMI was at 39.6 and I didn't have and co-morbs and they still wouldn't approved me. I got denied 3 times and then was told I wouod have to wait 6 months and re submit. So in the 6 months I gained 5pounds and got my 40BMI and an approval!
  14. They did for me! You have to have a BMI of 40 or greater OR a BMI of 35+ co-morbidities
  15. I feel your pain. I have BCBS and got denied 3 times and then had to wait 6 months before I got to submit again. It was because I was THREE POUNDS too light. And then they told me that if I gained weight to qualify, they would deny me again. But I did it anyway and submitted to them 6 months later (to the day) and they approved me in less thn two weeks. I'm not telling you to gain a bunch of weight because I don't know how much you would need to gain to qualify but... I'm just sayin.. it worked for me. AND I wrote a huge essay on the cost of weight related medical cost and how much more they would end up spendng on me if they didn't just let me get the surgery. I also included pics of myself in a bikini. (yikes, lmao) just for effect.
  16. Empire BCBS made me wait the full 30 days, three different times (90 days total) and then still denied me and said wait ANOTHER 6 MONTHS and re submit. Lol but my situation is different from a lot of others, so hopefully it won't be like that for you...
  17. @isntsheclever and @welittle I'm in Topeka and having mine done (eventually) at Tallgrass too. My surgeon I Dr. Hu. @welittle where north are you? My husband grew up about an hour north (ish) of topeka in fairview...
  18. I have to agree... that seems pretty expensive... that's (basically) 20 bucks for something that won't even last a week if I had one every day...
  19. I do! I can tell you they have jerked me around for the last 4 months. The told me I was 3 pounds too light to qualify for coverage and so I appealed it. 3 times. Now that I weigh the right amount they said I can't appeal anymore and that I have to wait 6 months and submit a completely new claim. Ugh! I hope its better for you!
  20. I completely 100% understand this. I have tried appealing my insurance's decision 3 different times and have been denied 4 times. They tell me it isn't medically neccessary because I'm 3 pounds too light. THREE POUNDS.
  21. OK, sooooooo heres the deal. I submitted to insurance and got denied because they said it wasnt medically necessary. So I appealed it. I found out yesterday that my appeal got denied. In my appeal letter I had mentioned that I had gained about 5 lbs since my weigh in with my Dr.... so, Im on the phone with my appeals nurse and she tells me that I got denied for not having a high enough BMI, because I dont weigh enough and me just writing in a letter saying that I gained weight isnt valid material (makes sense, no biggie). So I ask her "will it help my case if I go in and have my weight confirmed by my Dr?" she says "well you caaaaan, buuuuut I dont know how much it would help you because we have denied people on the sheer fact that they gained weight and didnt change their lifestyle for this surgery" DEEP BREATH.... OK. SO. you are telling me that I dont weigh enough for you to cover me, but if I gain any weight you wont cover me either??? ISNT THIS WHOLE PROCESS FOR THE SPECIFIC PURPOSE OF CHANGING MY LIFESTYLE???? IF I COULD DO IT WITHOUT THE VSG, DO YOU THINK I WOULD BE ASKING YOU FOR COVERAGE????????? YOU TOOK 3 MONTHS TO DENY MY CLAIM TWICE AND WONDER HOW ON EARTH I GAINED 5 POUNDS??? LADY! IF I WERE ONLY WORRIED ABOUT 5 POUNDS ID GO TAKE A CRAP AND THEN WEIGH MYSELF AGAIN! UUUUUUGH!!!!!! any advice on what I can do to get these people to change their minds???? HELP PLEASE!!!:help:
  22. probably not if it was only for an hour! lol
