What I will say to you is this...I am still struggling with this question. I will not lie about it, but initially I said that this is my time to focus on myself and its on a need to know basis. However, I did contact someone I barely know, but we have discussed her WLS in the past when I found out about it and I wanted to learn more. She is an excellent mentor and has agreed to be a resource for me. Her response this week to me on this very question is this: She regrets not letting people know up front. If she had to do it all over again, she would not scream it from the mountain tops, but at least inform those around her about it. She said that the hardest thing was having people notice her weight loss and begin to talk about her behind her back, she said that her friends she "confided" in didn't keep it a secret and everyone found out, but not on her terms. I am still processing what she said to me because I can see both sides. Right now, while I'm going through it, and the pre-op, surgery, etc. I will not say anything, after it is done, they can't say anything because what is done is done and I KNOW it was MY decision.

You let me know when, and I'll meet you. Sounds like fun! I attended that support group at Baylor Plano last night. Probably THE BEST one I've ever been to! It's once a month from 6:30 - 8PM. Also, from 6 - 6:30 there is a clothes closet, people donate clothes that have gotten too big for them, it's free. Take what you need, donate what you can't wear any longer. I wish I'd had something like this when I was giving all my stuff to Good Will......anyway....just let me know!

I think a bit of it is a twisted western culture compliment. Trying to say "you're not THAT bad". When in fact you probably are. Also people are massively adverse to change. So there will be some resistance there too.
I lost a large amount of weight 10 years ago. I'd lost about 110 pounds. I was still obese. I still had 60 pounds to lose. I can't tell you the number of people who said "You're not going to lose much more are you??"
Don't be offended. Don't take it on. It's about them, not about you. :)

DrmBig4Evr got a reaction from PrincipalsOffice in Fun visual ways to track weight loss
Ok, I was just watching something and it reminded me about this post! So this really isn't on the subject of "tracking" weight loss, BUT it is about our commitment to weight loss. What about putting a ring on our dominant hand so that when we reach for food we are reminded of our commitment to ourselves, our family and our life? Similar to a wedding ring, just a regular ring that can hold up over the years that can remind us daily of this commitment...

DrmBig4Evr reacted to Tawnie in Will my marriage survive WLS?
Hi Jenny don't worry. My husband is treated for anxiety and depression. Treatment is by no means a cure. So no matter what will always suffer a bit. It is very hard to be in these relationships but fully agree with others. He owns it not you! Be happy for yourself and this great opportunity. If you break up them WLS is not the reason. My hubby supports my decision however felt it was not necessary. He did however marry me at a higher weight than today.
If you need someone to talk to. Reach out to me. I get all your options and emotions but have faith in you !!!

JennyBeth: I have been married to a "difficult" man for almost 40 yrs. He is an ass - complains constantly, is terribly unhappy and depressed, is an alcoholic who hasn't touched a drink in over 15 yrs, is verbally abusive, is a hoarder, hasn't worked a full time job in over 30 yrs, but.... sometimes, not too often, but sometimes he is my rock and I love him. We've been married too long to not be. Gosh, my life sucks! hahahaha Actually, it doesn't. I find joy in my children and grandchildren and satisfaction in my job.
Getting the VSG is the first thing I have done for myself in many, many years and I am so glad I did. If you think he won't be there to support you after surgery and take care of the children, is there someone else you can count on to step in?
As far as his issues are concerned, you know that they are his issues and you can't fix him. I'm glad he is going for help for his depression - my husband refuses to admit that he even has any problems.
    Good luck and God bless!

On Friday I am having a forehead lift and my upper and lower eyelids done. Since losing weight I kind of look like I have a permanent frown. Yep, my face has sagged. Since it's the only saggy bit I can't cover I thought I would start at the top and work my way down.

So I am a little more relieved....I called the surgeon's office today and spoke with the NP that did my first eval. She reassured me that once I have my first NUT appointment, the process with my insurance (BCBS) should go quickly especially since I am under 40 BMI. She advised me to talk with the NUT about my worries regarding losing too much weight and that they will work with me so that does not happen. I can't wait to meet with the NUT and get the ball rolling...I think I will be a lot more relieved once that happens, but regardless the NP does not have any doubts to me getting approved

I have had bowel problems for years, sometimes only going once a month. I can tell what I found that finally worked like a charm and kept me regular like a normal person. I started taking a few tablespoons of mineral oil each night at bedtime. It makes for smooth, easy movements. The oil has no taste and is very inexpensive. I can buy it at the Dollar General. It works better than any laxative I've ever taken, and I've taken them all. Adjust the amount you take according to your needs. Since surgery I only need 1 tbs. I used to take 3.
