  1. I am the same, I'm 9 weeks and can eat anything with no problems. My doctor is the same with foods too, he says under 1000 cal and balanced diet with protein first for the first few months. I've lost 45 lbs so far and have 45 to go. I also don't feel deprived when I can have anything. Some people on here seem almost militant about low carb but I think whatever your doctor tells you to do is what to do and if that doesn't work you can aways try something else. Good luck.
  2. I can only speak for myself of course, but my sleeve is doing exactly what I wanted it to do. I eat what my family eats, protein first of course, but still get to have what they are having just lots, lots less. I am still losing about 1 lb every 2 days. I feel full and satisfied because I don't deprive myself. I do stay at about 800 calories a day. I'm 9 wks out and have lost 45 lbs so I love, love, love my sleeve. I don't count carbs but I really don't crave sweets and breads like I use to. I haven't even started exercising yet so I can't wait to see the results next week when I do. Good luck. The first month is the hardest.
  3. I just want to say that I don't count anything. I have a teeny, tiny tummy now. I eat protein first and then anything else I want. I can't eat much no matter what it is. I am 8 weeks out today and have lost 43 lbs. so far. I didn't have major surgery so I could be on a very strick diet for the rest of my life. There is no way I can eat even a fraction of what I could eat pre-op so what is the point of being a super freak about carbs or anything else. I feel great and the weight is coming off.
  4. I did the exact same thing. I lost about 2 lbs a day for the first 3 wks. Then nothing!!! I'm 7 wks out now and this last week I've lost about a lb a day. So don't give up it will move again. Ive lost 40 lbs total in 7 wks!!! Another 50 to goal but I'm at 199 now and haven't been there in about 10 yrs!!

My dr starts soft/pureed foods on day 3. I'm now 6 wks out and can have anything.
  6. I'm 6 weeks out and I still have burping issues.
  7. I've got the zumba DVDs and they are a great workout and lots of fun.
  8. Surgery 6/24/11 weight 239. Thus morning 201. 2 more lbs and I'll be in the 100's. Whoo whoo
  9. I am 6 weeks and at 4 weeks was allowed to try anything except fiberous raw veg. I have had all kinds of meats, veg and fruits. Salads at 4 wks and have had no problems. Somethings are heavier in my stomach than others but I started feeling better as soon as I got to eat solid foods.
  10. I totally agree with you all, what is the point of having surgery and being on a strict diet the rest of your life. I could have done that with my stomach intact. I am almost 4 wks post op and my philosophy is the same as Disney's. I have koolaid with sugar, one pack in a bottled water is 60 cal. I don't see that hindering my weight loss esp as I can only eat 4 or 5 bites every 2 or 3 hrs. I have lost 34 lbs since surgery and I know that will slow way down but I'm not in a race of any kind. I just want to live life and enjoy the few bites of food I can eat. I
  11. Yep the protein drinks will definately do it. They gave me stomach troubles before the surgery and still do. I can't even drink a whole one yet. About 1/4 of the way through I'm headed for the potty.
  12. You are defininately NOT crazy! That is a lot to consider. I had the same thoughts and truthfully don't know if I could have done it if I were the only parent. I think you would not be normal if you didn't have these concerns. I will keep you in my prayers. You have to do what is right for you. No one else can tell you to have the surgery or not to, it has to feel right to you. Good luck.
  13. Burning when I urinate then blood in my urine.
  14. Thanks so much for the support. Im gonna try breaking them from now on. They don't hurt I'm just afraid it will get stuck. Crazy I know. Lol
  15. So I have a UTI and my surgeon prescribed cipro. This pill is hugh! I just took my second one but man is it big. Got it down ok but had to eat a couple of crackers cuz the first one made me nauseous. I'm just over 3 weeks out and can't believe I can take this big ole pill. Lol
  16. I hear ya. Even the nurse that took me back to get me ready for surgery said you don't look like you are big enough for this surgery. I'm 5'7" and weighed 239. When I told her my weight she said well you don't look like it. Are you kiddin me, I'm 100 lbs overweight. Only I know how fat and unhealthy I felt at that weight.
  17. Hey I'm 3 wks today and it does get better. I had some complications post op and my first two weeks were full of crying and buyers remorse. Just stay hydrated and I promise every day you will feel better. My dr starts solids at 2 wks and that made a hugh difference. I feel normal now that I can have real food for my protein. Right now though hydration is your main goal. Good luck. I know you will start feeling better soon.
  18. If you are taking iron that can make it green.
  19. My dr recommended the liquid centrum and it's not too bad
  20. Isn't it strange how our bodies are all so very different. In the past I have done Atkins and lost only 6 or 7 lbs in a month but if I do under 1000 calories a day I've lost up to 35 lbs I'm a month even using some of my calories for a sweet treat. So I guess this is the perfect tool for my weight loss. Good luck to all of us on our new lives.
  21. I have NEVER lost much weight in the past doing high protein low carb I always did my best counting calories but on here all I keep seeing is carb, carb, carb. I'm wondering if anyone else is doing calories instead.
  22. I am doing better every day. My dr starts solids after 2 weeks and that made all the difference in how I feel. Still taking iron cuz I lost a lot of blood. But like I said I feel better everyday. And I've lost 29 lbs!!!
  23. If you have a Mcallister's their chicken tortilla soup is delish and a little spicy. Sooo good
  24. Well I fixed some with supper tonight for my family and I did nave a glass. No taste change. I still love it but it's gonna have to be a rare treat
  25. I never had this problem but my surgeon said alot of people get spasms when drinking cold. He suggested room temp.
