SageTracey got a reaction from tarajill in Got a little off track-need to get back to basics
I've also been stagnant in terms of weight loss for a number of months but I am still following my surgeon's band rules. My band could be a little tighter but I am about to head out next week on a long distance, multi-day charity bike ride so I know that I will need to eat more than usual to fuel the engine. But once I get back, I will be straight off to get a fill to get the scales moving again.
Good luck with refiring your rockets!
Can I suggest that you set some goals and actively work towards them?

The important thing is to follow your surgeon's instructions during this healing phase.
    Best wishes.

SageTracey got a reaction from parisshel in woman has lapband removed so she can eat...
She is clearly in need of help to understand the consequences of her morbid obesity and to deal with her relationship with food.
In many ways I feel sorry for her but I feel even sorrier for the British people who will find it even more difficult to access WLS thanks to the publicity surrounding this one person's situation.
I have gone from a size 24-26 to a size 14 and love my new life! Sure, I don't eat the foods that I used to love and definitely nothing in the way of quantities that I used to eat. And there are times that I miss those foods and quantities, but my life is so much better now that there is no way I am ever going back.

I'm sorry, I'm going to be really harsh...
....I'd like to smack the stupid out of this woman.
She says “i qualified for the band, and just because it didn’t work for me, it isn’t my fault" Ummm, yes it IS 100% her fault!! She apparently did everything wrong. But for her to blame the band for her ignorance is downright infuriating.
Oh and her saying she's "happy and healthy" now is complete crap. If she's happy being fat then great for her but it is far from "healthy" when your BMI is over 50. She is a ticking time bomb because of her obesity. And...knowing first hand how miserable life is at that size? I'm sorry, but I'm not buying the "happy" thing for a moment either. Just say'n.
I know the band doesn't work for everyone but this woman is the poster child for people who should never have any WLS to begin with.

SageTracey got a reaction from megamomnj in NSV - the skinniest sibling is ME!
My brothers and I don't get together very often but we were all there for our Mum's 70th birthday. My older brother has always been a very big man but all I have heard for a couple of years is how much weight he has lost. My younger brother has always been tall and whippet thin.
well, this time (and forever more) I was the skinnier sibling! Yay for my band.

Don't guess, it could one of many things and you have no way of knowing the cause by symptom checking online. It may be minor but it could be serious and require medical attention.
Call your doctor and find out the real reason.

SageTracey got a reaction from Maddysgram in Port removal tomorrow due to infection. Will I still have restriction?
Best wishes for your follow up surgery. Your questions really must be addressed by your dr. Any advice/info we could offer here would, at best, be based on personal experience, and everyone's circumstances are different, along with our drs who also take different approaches.

Don't forget that you have also had a general anaesthetic and it takes your body time to recover from that as well as your surgery.

Practice helps but you will probably never be perfect. Most of us have had to relearn eating and drinking lessons as our band journey progresses.
    Best of luck.

SageTracey got a reaction from brianb in Complications associated with Gastric banding A Surgeon's guide
It's a shame that this topic has become so inflamed as there has been some information posted that is of interest and benefit to people researching the lap band or possibly having complications.
IMO the most important thing to remember is that this is a forum for discussion. We are not WLS surgeons, we do not know enough about each other's personal health situations, we possibly don't even know how to properly read and interpret findings from studies.
The best we can do is share our experiences, be supportive and encourage each other to get proper medical advice when needed.

It may help to know that everything you have described is perfectly normal. You are not alone, just living in the real world where you do not have access to many people, if any, who have been through the same experience.
At least here you have our virtual support! Hang in there, it will get better and soon. I promise

SageTracey reacted to LapBandit2013 in Bathtub NSV
I normally don't take baths because my hips touch both sides and the Water from my hips to head gets cold unless I pull my body out of the water now & then. Anyway, I poured a bath for my little one not knowing she was already clean, so I got in instead. Guess what? There was a good 3-4 inches between each hip and the sides. I could see over half a foot of space with my body against one side. Needless to say, I stayed in the bath until we ran out of hot water. Holla!

Expect your journey to be extremely individual and don't compare your self with others. Maximum results? Follow your Dr.s instructions to the letter and don't cheat.
