    Hi-
I started the c to 5k program with some local WLS people.
today I finished the program with a 5k run.

anyone wondering how the heck can you do that, heck I don't know...
i didn't run 3 x week- but every sunday was hard at work on it...
It has been a great trip. I hope more people can try it and see how much fun it is...

    Hi Kim-
take your classes, and just keep in mind, the big picture- which gets smaller
diff. surgery for diff. people... My wife is a RnY, I am a sleeve..
she losses consistently, I drop big numbers and stall out...
she has had very little probs post surgery, I have had my share...and then some...
Other sleevers have had no probs eating. and other RnY's still eat softs 1 year out...
focus- follow the plan- talk with the Doc. and the Psyc. and your answer will come to you in time...
I made up my mind about 9 weeks into my classes, week 5, I wasn''t going to do it.
week 7 and 8 I was a complete basket case... on the fence- off the fence...
in fact I was not convinced, even though I had a surgery date. knowing I could back out...
My wife, and the Psyc. gave me the answers I was looking for.
the surgeon on pre-op visit- confirmed it all up.
the week prior to surgery I was in total peace.

besides the fact that the food is frozen, it is deep fried.
you are getting more calories from the fat than the food- and at that high of heat, the nutrients you so need are ruined!
I personally pass, stay away- that stuff is addicting and I have shook that addiction,
Carry a apple sauce, a ind. cheese stick, an apple.... something... Honestly- if your stranded at McD's... there is a store near by... Grab a Yogurt....
If you keep on doing what you've always done, you'll keep on getting what you've always got.

Did your significant other become insecure....are they more attentive now?..did you get back that honeymoon phase kind of love...?

plain and simple...has the sex life changed? lol
My wife was RNY 8 months before my sleeve.
things are different- we are approaching 28 years of marriage-
insecure? no- people treat us different- even though she lost 75# more than I, she doesn't get noticed as much as I do. maybe people are afraid to talk to a woman about her weight?
either way- we are both loving our new life, and I don't think we ever lost that honeymoon phase, yes things are different- we are not hopping into the sack at every chance- but then again we didn't do that before-. we saved it for the evening- barring kids/tired/early alarms/health/what ever.
The thing I will tell ya that is awesome... taking a bath together.
so relaxing- so, what two people in love should do! without losing 280# between us that would never be possible... she is working on her list of 100 things to do- we have checked off a few things together
It was taught in our class, if your relationship is good- it will get better, if it is not- chances are it won't get better.
I was worried a bit... but now- we are having the time of our lives together...
and yes- there is a convertible car in our future

tonight I took an onion, 4 little sweet peppers, 3 stalks of celery, all diced and dry sauteed then added beef broth and red wine.
then I took a can of low sodium /fat-cream of celery Soup and added in pre cooked turkey meatballs. 1 .5 hours and it was divine!

    Hi-
I bought my wife a tagine for Christmas,(cost plus world market) While off on vacation/juryduty, I decided to play with it.
My wife doesn't like curries so much so the challenge is to make meals either South western or traditional American flavored.
first time I used one, two lean center cut boneless pork chops, diced, with 1/2 onion, 1 clove elephant garlic, 1 roasted red pepper, a can of black Beans and a can of diced tomatoes.
no salt- to grinds on the pepper mill, a pinch of fresh dried oregano and a shake of ground cumin.
all in- 2 hours @ 350* in oven and done- tender and flavorful.
    next up chicken stew-
a carrot, 1/2 onion, 3 cloves of garlic smashed, 3 red potatoes, diced, two breasts of chicken cut up, a bay leaf, 3 grinds on the pepper mill,a shake of celery seed, and a can of chicken stock.
all in- 2 hours- and again fantastic food!
I have been slowly getting back to real foods- 6 months out and some basic foods still bothered me-
I find this is a great way to make a tasty dinner, easy prep, and everything is tender...
the Tagine is 12 inches round, and makes enough for- four servings- so dinner for two and a lunch for two next day- .

I want to share the one pot meal I'm making for tonight! This post is great.
    Dutch Oven Pot Roast

    2 lbs chuck roast
    2 onions, halved
    2 cloves garlic, minced
    1 bag baby carrots
    2 cans diced tomato
    2 sprigs fresh rosemary
    4 sprigs fresh thyme
    2 bay leaves
    1/2 cup beef stock
    1/2 cup red wine
    2 tbsp olive oil
    salt
    pepper

Salt and pepper the meat, then brown it on all sides in the dutch oven with the olive oil. Once browned, add all of the other ingredients to the dutch oven (liquids first). Turn stove down to low and braise for 3-3.5 hours until the meat is falling apart. Baste it with the braising liquid every half hour or so. Salt and pepper to taste.
I serve this to my husband over garlic mashed potatoes, but they're not necessary if you'd rather avoid the starch.

    13 weeks.
I pushed it out 4 extra weeks...
I did it by the book- lost my 10% went to the 14 week class, hit every appointment, and all pre screening tests.
I was lucky I just went through it all with my wife- she was 10 weeks, and she was by the book also-
though she choose RnY, 6 months out she has no probs- and is over 140# down.
she dropped over 5# last week while on vacation- I'm on a stall ...
    sleevers do that .

    Hi-
Do not be afraid of the Roux N Y, although I am a n00b sleever, My wife which was your weight back in DEC. has now lost 125 pounds and has less trouble with foods than I have...
please be open as you explore, each person is different.
Losing the weight prior to surgery is easy... you don't have to think... stick to the program...
now that I am sleeved- always thinking about food, and Water... what can I have, and will it stay down... Drink- Drink- Drink...
although I am very happy after, I was on the fence through out my 14 week classes.
The pre-op program foods took off the needed weight, and occasionally I slipped and drank some wine- that's what I do..
even yesterday- I can't resist some home made Cabernet. though it was only a smidgen of a glass...
still came in with -2# for the day and 4# for the weekend. and I was traveling.
Good luck and read everything you can!

I am not able to eat a Grilled cheese- I was hoping something soft, other than Soup would go down, and keep the queasy stomach happy.
I have an appointment tomorrow with the surgeon, and maybe the dietician too...
As a chef- and in the customer service business, I am shocked at the restaurants that we visited, uneasiness to help a person with diet concerns.
I don't necessarily think they should discount, however- a bowl of soup for $5.99 when they don't
sell anything smaller is appalling to me. Seriously- soup at pennies per ounce...
My diet concerns are minimal compared to the many I see at work, that need gluten free, vegan etc.
no wonder many people like where I work, to eat... gives me a better perspective, opens my eyes.
