  1. Congratulations!!! My doctor office also had it where you buy the shake mix from them. I found out the brand of the shakes and actually found them cheaper online at a website called Bariatric Choice. I would continue to train for your walk. Just take it down a notch and if you are not up to it...then take it easy. You'll have plenty of time for exercise after surgery. I ended up taking 2 weeks off because I had lots of vacation time. I have desk job and I could have gone back to work after a week. You might try to go back half day for a day or 2 to see how it goes. Good Luck!!
  2. (((Hugs))) I was a complete emotional mess about 5 days after surgery as well. I wasnt in pain, I was just so very weak and tired. The protein shakes were starting to make me dry heave. I ended up adding some soup and cottage cheese in addition to the protein shakes I was supposed to be drinking. It made the world of difference in how I felt. I dont suggest you go against your doctor orders, I'm just sharing what worked for me. It will get better...just hang in there.
  3. Yes...I was craving balsamic vinaigrette pre and post op. Weird to hear someone else did too. I didn't do anything about it. But what a strange coincidence!
  4. Glad to hear you are feeling so much better. Each day will be an improvement!
  5. Congrats! You are doing great!
  6. Awesome! Congratulations!
  7. I would call the doctor and explain your situation. It sounds like you are in crisis and I'm pretty sure they wont turn you away if you cant pay. Set up a payment plan or something, but this sounds like you need medical intervention. Good Luck!
  8. I think just about every weight loss surgery program requires a psych eval. Totally common and nothing to worry about. They just want to make sure you understand you know what you are getting into and dont have unrealistic expectations. Good Luck!
  9. Remind yourself that eating is very important for your body. There is no need to feel guilty for giving your body nutrition that it needs. It sounds like things are going well, you are eating the amount you should and are not having any problems with getting stuck or other issues. For that you should be thankful. It's ok to be happy and enjoy the process. I know I really enjoy my meals and have had no problems to date. I even had to increase my calories because I wasnt eating enough. You should take that guilt and turn it into pride for following through and sticking to your plan! Each meal should be a affirmation that you are doing what you need to do to be healthy and lose weight. Good Luck!
  10. You have just been banded so things are going to feel very tight for the first few days. I know I wasnt able to get much in at all for the first 5 days after surgery and then things loosened up a bit. Hang in there! Your mushies are just around the corner. TV commercials are the worst. I always kept the remote in my hand to quickly change the channel when my favorite places came on. I swear Papa John's and Domino's increased their frequency of commercials just because I had surgery!
  11. You've done amazingly well! Congrats! Happy Band-iversary
  12. God works in mysterious ways! Glad you stayed on track...you should be proud of everything you accomplished.
  13. The more you describe, the more it sounds like maybe she isn't what I would term a "best friend". You need to surround yourself with people who are supportive and make you happy. Sometimes that means cutting out people in your life who bring you down. Friendship shouldn't be one-sided. The most important thing is that you have taken a step in the right direction to improve yourself. I congratulate you for that. Everyone on this site is great and we all support each other. I wish you success, happiness and good health. I hope things work out the way you want them to. If not, I know you will have the strength to move on because you have already shown that you are a very strong person! Have a great day!
  14. I'll be honest, if I was your best friend I would be hurt. I am sure the main reason she is upset is that she feels that you didn't trust her enough to be supportive or to share a very major event of your life with her. You might think she may not have been supportive, but you never even gave her a chance. She may have had an opinion about the surgery, but it was you that allowed yourself to be influenced by her opinion. I had a best friend that did something very similar (she withheld a significant event) and I was crushed and deeply hurt. Granted, everyone is entitled to their own life and can do what they want, but when you share everything with a best friend and then all of a sudden dont, it can be very hurtful. Truthfully, our friendship went downhill from that moment and never recovered. So maybe I am a bit biased...I'm sure you'll get a lot of responses who feel it was your right not to tell.
  15. Congratulations on all your hard work!
  16. Wow, no one ever mentioned this to me. Maybe I should get something.
  17. The cardboard box ones are nice because they have a little cap that you can open and close.
  18. I weight myself every 3 or 4 days. But like you...in the early stages right after surgery there were losses and then some gains. The first 6 weeks are really for healing and small ups and downs are expected. Just be patient (easier said than done) the whole process of healing and losing takes time! Congrats on your weight loss so far!
  19. I had the exact same issue. About 4 weeks after surgery I couldn't lose a pound. I lost nothing for 3 weeks. I was sooooo frustrated. I was only eating about 800 calories a day. Your food list is identical to what I was eating...low fat and carb and high Protein. I figured that since I weighed 380, eating like that and exercising I should be losing 5 pounds a week!! I was so upset. My nutritionist upped my calories as well. As soon as I did, I dropped weight immediately and have been consistently dropping weight ever since. I eat about 1200 calories a day and try to focus on protein and lower carb choices. But now that I can eat any food, the carbs usually hover around 120-150 a day, especially if I eat fruit. In order to add a few more calories you could eat some full fat cheese. Just and ounce or 2 will make up those calories, plus it has great protein and no carbs! I know you can't have nuts yet, but I have 1 ounce of almonds a day which I very much enjoy. You could also add some olive oil, butter, mayo to stuff. You still need to get in some fats. My nutritionist wants us to have 3 servings a day. Good Luck! Congrats on your weight loss thus far!
  20. I do about 1200 a day...I try to get about 80 grams or more of protein a day. I try to stay under 100 grams of carbs but its not always possible, especially if I eat fruit.

Good Luck! If you are doing Protein Shakes, make sure you find one that you like. I didnt do that I and I really regret it. Evenings were really, really tough for me. I wasnt really hungry, but I wanted food badly. I reminded myself that the pre-op diet was to shrink my liver and just kept telling myself if I messed up they wouldnt do my surgery. It helped keep me on track. Also, I did a lot of crying, yelling and being bitchy because I was missing my food. Luckily people around me really were supportive and understood what I was going through. You can do it!
  22. I work at a hospital and insurance contract issues happen all the time. Most get resolved without any issues or problems in coverage. Both the hospital and insurance company use the media to their advantage in the contract negotiations. You most likely wont have any issues unless communication completely breaks down. Good Luck!
  23. Congrats to everyone on their success! I was banded May 23, 2011 and I've lost 44 pounds. I had 3 weeks where I didn't lose anything and had to up my calories to get the scale moving. I have not had any fills. I have a long way to go, but my clothes are definitely looser and I'm feeling better. I've been exercising 3-4 times a week and drinking 10-12 glasses of Water a day. I weigh in tomorrow and I am hoping for another bit of a loss...though TOM is supposed to start this weekend so you never know!
  24. Sounds like low potassium to me...but I'm not a doctor. Do you have a chewable multivitamin you can take?
