I was banded May 19th this year and just wondering where everyone was in thier progress from that month? I started at 273, now at 249. Exercise almost everyday for about an hour and just had my second fill last friday July 8th. I think so far my weight loss is decent but I bet some of you have done better! I'd like to hear about it!

I was banded on May 27th, start weight preop 204lbs, now I am 180 lbs. I am down 24 lbs....i am so looking forward to be in the 170's it has been about 13 yrs since I have seen that #. I just got my first fill on July 12th, so I am on liquids again til tomorrow. Hoping to lose one more pound tomorrow, to reward myself with some MAC makeup, I hit 2 mini goals, 25 lbs down and out if the 180's. I am no longer on high blood pressure meds and my diabetes type 2, has improved remarkably!!! My fill is very conservative. Doc. Did not tell me how many cc's and I didn't ask. I kinda don't want to know....don't want to get hung up on anymore #'s. For now.

Congrats to everyone on their success!

I was banded May 23, 2011 and I've lost 44 pounds. I had 3 weeks where I didn't lose anything and had to up my calories to get the scale moving. I have not had any fills.

I have a long way to go, but my clothes are definitely looser and I'm feeling better. I've been exercising 3-4 times a week and drinking 10-12 glasses of Water a day. I weigh in tomorrow and I am hoping for another bit of a loss...though TOM is supposed to start this weekend so you never know!

Hey everyone,

Glad to see everyone is doing well! I was banded on May 31st, 283 before the diet, 268 the day of surgery, and 242 today for a total of 41 pounds down. I exercise 5 times a week, and just incorporated strength training into my diet at 4 weeks post op. I also got my first fill on July 6th, 6ccs in my 11cc Realize Band. Def. More restriction but not at my sweet spot yet...but I want to take the fills slow, scares of being too tight.

Hi Everyone,

I was banded on May 13th with a starting weight of 197. Ive had 2 fills so far and now I'm at 179 and I have a total of 4ccs in my band. I'm really happy with my progress so far but I am feeling like I don't have much restriction at all. I haven't been excercising and have been eating pretty much the same things I was eating before, just a smaller amount. I'm not in any rush so I guess we'll see what happens.

Wishing good luck to all the May Bandsters!!

Hi. I was banded may 18th, I did 2week pre-op diet, including my pre op loss I'm down now 37 lbs. I've definitely slowed down, averaging about 2 lbs per week now, which is good for me. Sounds like everyone is doing really well, congrats!

Oh my god! You all have done so very well. I feel like a complete slacker next to you.

I was banded May 19. I started at 220 and am now down to 207. My weight actually went up a couple of pounds but I lost them. This has been so hard for me. I am a workout fiend and was before I even thought of having surgery. I swim at least 3-4 times a week, hit the treadmill or walk in my neighborhood most other days.

I am just struggling with feeling restriction. I had my first fill in June and was ravenous the week after. I had another fill a couple of weeks ago. But I still cannot get the hang of solid food. Seems like no matter what I eat, I can't drop weight consistently. I know it doesn't help that I had goiters on my thyroid and had to have it removed last year, but this is ridiculous.

I am beginning to seriously regret the surgery and all the pain and discomfort I went through.

Amanda

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
