  1. Congratulations on getting your date and welcome to the site! I'll be having my sleeve done 3 days before you. I'm both excited and a bit nervous about the surgery. I think I'm nervous only because it is a major surgery and while the chances of something going wrong during surgery are incredibly small, there is a chance. I think that's normal though.
  2. Well, I got past the pizza cravings. Today I had a craving for Wendy's chili and their new salad (that I've never had) - the berry almond chicken salad. I caved. Strictly speaking the berries and chicken from the salad (I didn't taste any almonds) are not on my pre-op diet nor is the chili. But considering the cravings I have been having that I did not cave to, I don't feel quite so bad about caving to this one. Tomorrow though, I am back on the diet 100%. Hopefully, it didn't screw it up too badly - I think it was still decent choices. But back on the wagon tomorrow as I need this surgery to work and can't keep doing this. 9 days until surgery and I will do this!
  3. Yes, I started it on Wednesday. It's been pretty ok - although the last 3 days I've been having cravings. Today I actually caved to my craving - I wanted the new salad from Wendy's (the berry almond salad with chicken) and a small Wendy's chili. The salad would have been ok on my preop diet except for the berries and chicken and the chili was also a no-no. But it was so good. The last 2 days I had been craving pizza - and I didn't give in to THAT craving, so overall, I think I did ok even though I caved. Back on it tomorrow though. My surgery is in Fairfield Ohio - a suburb of Cincinnati.
  4. I was told to use only whey protein isolate or soy protein isolate as the first ingredient. The nutritionist said that that if it wasn't the first ingredient then not to use it.
  5. Your surgeon or nutritionist didn't tell you? My surgery isn't until the 12th and I already know when I am to progress from one stage to the next. I would say call your surgeon and/or nutritionist.
  6. Glad the surgery went well and you are back home. Hope you heal quickly.
  7. Thanks for sharing your story. I hope the flight was comfortable and everything goes well back in the States. Looking forward to the rest of the story.
  8. Congratulations on getting your date! I'm having mine done on the 12th in Cincinnati, but wish you luck!
  9. Congrats! I'll be having my surgery 2 days before you on the 12th. It's great that you have such support!
  10. Congratulations on getting the approval.
  11. Those are awesome nsv's! Congratulations!
  12. Congratulations! That is awesome!
  13. I figured I would weigh myself on Wednesday. I'm currently in Michigan and don't have the scale with me. I did not give in yesterday. I did make it through, so that to me is a victory. Today though is a new day and a new battle....
  14. Congratulations on getting through their hoops. Wednesday will be here before you know it. Good luck with the surgery.
  15. Wow - that's good that you could laugh about it. Thankfully, no one has mentioned that to me. I guess my weight is carried differently...
  16. Glad to hear it went well for you. Thank you for checking in!

  18. Strangely enough, I am relatively calm right now. I was really nervous last week before my EGD, but now I'm not. I had trouble today with head hunger - but I didn't cave like I would have if I wasn't about to have surgery. We'll see how I do tomorrow. Actually, I'm a bit nervous about this family reunion I have to attend next weekend. It's in MD and will be 10.5 hour drive each way. I'm driving out on Thursday and driving back on Sunday. Friday and Saturday are going to be jam packed with things including a dinner on Saturday night that I won't be able to eat. I haven't quite figured out how I'm going to do my pre-op diet for this event yet. Obviously, I'll be taking my Protein powder so I can mix the shakes, but not quite sure how I will get in the other 6 servings of food a day yet. I'm sure I'll figure something out though. I'm also moving at the end of July to an apartment. I'm currently renting a room from some friends and have decided to get my own apartment to help save money (yeah, that's what I said - save money by moving out of my friends house). My application was just approved earlier this week and I was given the move in date of July 29. I have been working the phones to make the necessary arrangements for power, internet/tv. I've also been researching where I can get furniture as I will need everything (I'm not moving my junky and heavy furniture from my house in Michigan to Ohio). I think that's probably why I'm not as nervous about the surgery - that's been my focus for the last 3 days. I imagine come July 11 I will be a wreck though.
  19. Hey readytolive - welcome to the largest sleeving date in July! There's a lot of us going that day!
  20. Congratulations on getting the sleeve. Focus on sipping your liquids and make sure you get in as much as you can as that will help. Walking will also help with the gas pains. It will get better.
  21. Yes, it's normal. There have been several people on here who have reported it.
  22. Glad things are going so well for you. Congrats on the 17 pounds lost!
  23. I have a pretty generous pre-op diet compared to some - 4 Protein shakes made with skim milk plus 6 other foods per day that include fresh veggies, Soup, yogurt, applesauce, oatmeal and sf Jello. The first 2 days, I did fine - in fact, I couldn't eat everything that I was supposed to as I still had 2 servings of "real food" left at the end of each day. I had thought that maybe I could do this and would not experience the cravings or carb detox as I was taking in 80 g of carbs (thanks mostly to the skim milk). Today is a different story. I am so hungry! And I am craving pizza, sandwiches and lunchables. I know it's most likely me entering carb detox based on what others have posted on here, but wow, these cravings are bad. I know it's all in my head. I'm trying my best to not give in. I'm drinking lots of Water and trying to do other things to get my mind off of this, but it's tough.
  24. I'm so sorry you are having problems. I hope they get this resolved quickly for you.
