  1. Good luck to today's sleevers SmallerSoon and smanathafecher as well as any others. Please update us when you can. Edit: I just noticed Qpdfils is having surgery today as well. Good luck!
  2. When growing up, my parents always had (and still do) whole milk. When I got out on my own, I switched to 2%. However for the last 5 or 6 years I have been drinking skim milk and absolutely love it. In fact, the place I'm currently staying had just 2% milk and I used that for my shake instead of skim and it didn't taste very good to me, so I ended up going out and buying a gallon of milk just for me.
  3. Wow - what an amazing story. And back to work already! I'm planning 2.5 weeks off and my boss is saying that I can take longer as he was talking about not having me come back until after Labor Day. I'm a wimp compared to you! LOL
  4. Welcome to the forums. We will be sleeved the same day. It is frustrating that each doctor has different "standards" when it comes to the diet, but it is what they recommend for their practice to help ensure that you will go through the surgery with the least amount of complications and heal appropriately. The 2 weeks before is typically to help shrink the fatty deposits around the liver so that it reduces the chances of the liver getting nicked during surgery which would not be a good thing. Yes, it is tough sticking with the pre-op diet, but you really need to try to stick to it as much as possible. After surgery I hear it is a bit easier due to the swelling and your stomach not tolerating much. It is very important to focus on getting liquids and Protein so you can heal properly. Also, do not compare yourself to others. Everyone heals differently and goes through the process differently.
  5. Welcome to the forums. You'll find a lot of support and advice here. Good luck with your surgery!
  6. Good luck with your surgery today. Please update when you are able.
  7. My nutritionist said up to 5000 mcg, but it is a b vitamin so what your body won't use it will excrete in your urine.
  8. Wow. So sorry you are having such a rough time. At least you are at the hospital and they are discovering the problems and treating them. I hope you get feeling better real soon.
  9. I wonder if these are available outside of the "clubs" as I don't have membership to either Sam's or Costco. I'll have to look for them. Thanks!
  10. Welcome to the forums! Congrats on getting your date already! Be sure to check out all of the different forums - you'll find a lot of support and advice here.
  11. You're spouse can come on here too. There's nothing wrong with that.
  12. You have to hit "post" not reply. Sorry about that.
  13. You'll do great! For me the hardest part was days 3 through 5 of the pre-op diet - that's when I had the cravings. Today is day 6 - but no cravings today. Others have said it gets easier too, and I have to admit, it is easier today. Good luck with your surgery.
  14. $15,300 for surgery, 1 year aftercare, 6 months membership to the fitness center, 2 visits with a personal trainer in Fairfield, Ohio.
  15. Looking at the ingredients list, I wouldn't use it. My surgeon and dietician say use only products that have Whey Protein Isolate as the first ingredient. This product has it as the second ingredient of their protein mix - the first being collagen (an incomplete form of protein). Water is the first ingredient and the protein mix is the 2nd ingredient. Sounds like it's not a very good source of usable protein.
  16. Hi Suez - welcome to the forums. I haven't been sleeved yet, so I'm not really qualified to answer your question. However, check out the complications forum http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/forum/48-vsg-complications-support-group/ as I think you will find some of your answer there. There are a lot of people on here who are at every stage of the VSG journey. You will find a lot of support on here as well as answers to a lot of questions if you look around at each of the forums. For me so far, the hardest part of the pre-op diet has been the cravings. Today however is a new day and so far, no cravings - so hopefully I am past those for now.
  17. Don't forget to check into the July sleevers forum. We have a master list going. http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/forum/105-july-2011-sleevers/
  18. Good luck to the July 4th sleever Heather H! (and any one else getting their sleeve today). Hope all goes well for you.
  19. I used to do mystery shopping when I was in Michigan more frequently. However, I haven't done it in a while thanks to my job having me in Cincinnati for a while and I still haven't moved to the area yet. However, 2 weeks after surgery, I will be getting an apartment in the area (about 3 miles from where I am having surgery done!) . What a small world. You'll do fine. I have found that days 3-5 of the pre-op diet is the hardest as far as cravings go. Of course, I'm just starting day 6, but I'm already feeling much better today than I did yesterday.
  20. Glad to hear everything has gone well for you! Thanks for posting!
  21. Welcome to the forums. You'll do great with this surgery. I'll be following you next week!
  22. Welcome to the forums and congratulations on making your decision. I'm also a self-pay and thankfully the surgeon that I found does automatically 90 days of bliss coverage included in his package price.
  23. Welcome to the forums and good luck with your surgery next week. I'll be having mine done the day after you. Yeah, the pre-op diet is crazy. I just went through 3 days of serious cravings. I did cave yesterday - but that was to have Wendy's chili and their new salad - berry almond chicken. Boy they were good. But it wasn't strictly speaking on my pre-op diet list. Before that, I was craving pizza, so I think I did a "good cave" if there is such a thing. Today though, it's back to the pre-op diet. Most of mine was "head hunger" - where my head was trying to play tricks on me. That's something that I think we all go through. Change is tough. You'll do just fine with the surgery. You're fears are normal, but the chances of having a complication are really low. Just keep in mind the reasons why you are having the surgery and that will help. It sounds like you have been doing that already. Yes, the results will be worth this.
