new and nervous
hey! the first couple months were hard! But now that i am almost a month post op I am soo glad of where i came. The pre op diet sucks big time and i was an emotional wreck! I can now eat mushy foods and boy can i tell you they never tasted soo good! look for the positives in everything.... for instance i used to not be able to walk hardly at all and yesterday i walked a mile ! OR when your clothes start being looser and you get full easier and faster. thats what got me through. good luck to you! message me if you ever need to talk

Anyone have any recommendations for a NJ or PA Doc?
i can recommend dr reich in manahawkin, NJ they are awesome there and have the highest success rate around here. i work with someone that had it done and lost 200 lbs in less then 2 years. I had my surgery last week and i already lost 42 lbs... 30 lbs in the last week! The staff there are awesome too... very supportive and very pro band

Gas????
the gas is from them pumping air into your stomach and it takes awhile for it to all come out. walking definately helps the pain whenever i walk i normally feel better in a couple minutes or gettting the gas- x strips works great too

some questions bout what to expect
i have only been banded for 6 days now but i know that i can't chug a drink too fast or i feel it for sure. you will have to change your eating habits... not just cut portions down but make healthier choices. I am told pasta doesn't go through the band too good and expands in your stomach more like bread. so if you eat that you may not be able to eat more protein that you need at the same meal. you have to chew everything like 25- 45 times before you swallow it so it will take a lot longer to eat then everyone else. it's also good to put your fork down in between bites so that it makes you slow down more. Also don't drink with your meals stop drinking at least 15 minutes before and 45 minutes after a meal so you don't eat as much. The liquid will push the food through and make room for more instead of a small amount satisfying you. like i said i only had the band 6 days ago so i can't say much more then that from experience best of luck to you!
