My Introduction :)
congrats on the weight loss so far! don't weigh yourself everyday it will drive you nuts ( i have to tell myself that too haha) and yes protein is so important. now that you are on the mushie stage you can eat more protein filled things (eggs, beans, tofu, hummus, fish) if you eat more protein filled things it will make you feel more full. I would still drink some protein shakes still or get the unflavored and mix it in your food instead of drinking it. hope that helped! oh and i was just banded on 4/22 but my dr has taught us well lol.

Thinking about the Lap Band
i decided to because i got up to wayy more then i ever thought i would be and i have sleep apnea, border line diabetic ,pcos, and am infertile. I couldn't walk hardly and i had to use a scooter when i went to walmart. now i am 6 days post op and since i started this process like 3 months ago i lost close to 40 lbs already! i can walk around my neighborhood now and all my clothes are getting big now.

New to lap band lifestyle
i am on day 4 of post op and i find i get emotional easily too well i realized that from the pre op too. i realized i have an addiction to food and an emotional eater. without that it is really hard. i seem to mope a round a lot more now and not sure what to do most of the time. Granted.. i am happy that only a couple oz of broth fills me up and the scale seems to be going down but not having that "friend" to turn to is hard

Hello from New York
i just had the surgery on friday 4/22 and beforehand i was on a 2 week pre op diet that consisted of oatmeal, raw veggies, yogurt, sugar free pudding, sugar free jello and no sugar added applesauce. I also had to drink 4 protein shakes a day... now i am on a clear liquid diet for a week and then i move onto pureed food, then soft foods, and then finally a regular diet. We too have to use a salad plate make half of it veggies 1/4 of it protein and 1/4 starches. right now i am not hungry at all and haven't been since the surgery but the pain where the port is is very tender. i am able to get up on my own but can't bend over or lift anything for awhile. I am also only taking a week off of work but the surgeon said that you could potentially have the surgery on friday and go back to work on monday. I live in NJ and if you want the name of my surgeon just let me know they are awesome

Craving Eggs!!
i was just banded on 4/22 and i am still not hungry! smelling foods and seeing them aren't making me hungry yet either.. its very weird! lol

Feeling sick
i got banded on 4/ 22 too but i seem to be doing a bit better. the most important thing is to walk walk walk. i know it is not fun but you have to if you wanna feel better any time soon. my husband has been like a drill Sargent getting me up to walk all the time. If it wasn't for him i would still be sitting in the recliner with an insane amount of pain! but getting up and walking around has really helped

Advice on vitamines, protein brands?
my favorite protein is the nectar brand. they have lot of yummy flavors like cappacinno, cherry, fruit punch, iced tea, chocolate truffle, strawberry mouse, calypso breeze ( taste like pina coloda) i just mix that with either milk or water and its yummy and goes down good. The multivitamins i take are natures bounty and they are chewables that taste like apple cinnaman and the calcium tastes like chocolate.

Protein Shake/Drink Info Please
the nectar does fill me up! you want lots of different flavors because you WILL get bored with it... i have like 6 flavors i switch between

Protein Shake/Drink Info Please
my favorite is the nectar brand protein powders. you can get them at vitamin world and any vitamin type shop. They have lots of unique but good flavors... like cherry explosion, cappacinno, iced tea, pink grapefruit, calypso breeze, fruit punch, chocolate truffle, and strawberry mousse.you just mix them with water or milk. i recommend skim plus milk it is fat free like skim milk but has the flavor of 2 % milk and more calcium then whole milk

Surgery in the morning tomorrow April 15
the pre-op diet is to shrink your liver so it's easier for the surgeon and for you. also helps to get a few pounds off before the surgery. I think they also do it so you get used to smaller amounts of food and being on the protein shakes... i am on day 8 of my pre op diet and i can eat very little and drink my shakes and i get full pretty easily... i couldn't if i wasn't on this diet and as far as people talking you out of this, don't let them... this will be a life changing thing that will make a better you... so good luck to you hope this helped!

Pre-Op Diet! Protein Shakes Suggestions Please???
i like the nectar brand protein powders they have tons of flavors like cherry explosion, iced tea, pink grapefruit, chocolate truffle, strawberry mousse, kiwi strawberry, fruit punch and the list goes on. my nutritionist said that we need protein with the first ingredient is "Whey protein isolates" it's the purest of protein and there is 23 g of protein per scoop... i love the stuff and love how it makes me full too
