  1. sometimes it takes a couple of weeks to feel the effects of a fill..so i would try and wait at least 2 weeks between them. but getting to restriction can take a while..it took me 8 months 5 fills and 2 emergency unfills. so be patient it will happen..lol i know i wanted it right away and i had to wait..lol
  2. i'm 8 months out and i still from time to time get the shoulder pain. sometimes if i've eaten too much...sometimes i have no idea, but it's annoying as hell! ugh! but if i had to choose between not having it and no band, then i'm choosing the shoulder pain with my band!
  3. ok i'm not sure if this has bee addressed before. i just found this forum today. i cant figure out how to add my before and after pics. there is no buttom to click add on this page of my profile. am i special or is this a glitch? jennifer
  4. oh i am 5 pounds away from onederland and i'm praying i can make it by feb 14th!!
  5. it took me 5 fills and 2 emergency unfills to get proper restriction and now that i have it. i have nice steady loss. i was sooo frustrated too. i felt like i got this band i want all the big numbers everyone else gets. well i'm not everybody else and i had to realize that. i'm just shy of losing 40 pounds and it's taken my about 8 months. clothes gone from 20 to 14, but it's been a journey, please dont be discouraged, it takes time to find good restriction jennifer
  6. i was self pay and it hit me up$12,500 and worth every penny!!!
  7. ankle weights!!! hilarious.. i never heard of anyone doing that, but i wanna take off all jewelry, and hair when i have to get weighed in. during my initial consult. i met with the dietician who told me what i could expect to eat before and after the band, got lots of handouts and booklets. met with the surgeon who showed me an actual lapband and explained the entire procedure. i had a list of 50+ questions(not exaggerating) and he went thru and answered everyone. i even asked if he ever been part of a malpractice suit. hmph yes i did..but i had already googled him so i knew he wasnt. lol hope this was helpful!
  8. extra pillows to prop you up at night. i couldnt sleep flat for the first couple of night. i am single but i had friends stay with me the first feww night cuz i needed help getting in a out of bed. gas strips did nuthn for me. but all the other advice is good
  9. hiccups let me know to stop eating. it's funny cuz my co-workers know what it means....lol. yes your band will make you make all kinds of weird noises. the gurggling thing is the most unpleasant to me
  10. dont get discouraged, you're almost there!!!

sometimes it take a while for you to feel the effect of your fill. it took my 8 months (5 fills and 2 emergecny unfills) to get to the "green zone. this is one thing i hadnt planned on with the band, but it's all part of the process. i went through 6 weeks with me feeling like my band was totally open and gain 9 pounds, but that was after 2 emergency unfills and loosing 9pounds in a week, but i couldnt even keep down a protein shake. hang in there it gets better

it's funny you say that cuz i went to the store today to get some base pieces, like black skirt or pants that i could just switch the tops with. yeah i was already warned not to buy too many clothes..lol
  15. the beautiful thing about that band is you can always start over. you know that you can do this cuz you did it before. i would encourage you to work with your surgeon in getting back to your green zone. you're only a failure if you give up and since you have the strength to go thru this surgery in the first place you have the strength to pick yourself up, dust off and get back on track. best wishes and success!!!

  17. i have hypothyroidism and my weight loss is just slower, but i'm not complaining. 8 months down 35 pounds and froma size 20 to a 14!
  18. i think everyone goes through this. it took me 5 fills and 2 unfills in 8 months to get to good restriction. i am finally down 35 pounds and i thought it should be more, but my clothing size has gone froma 20 to 14 in those 8 months. i know noone wants to hear be patient and that it's goin to happen, but thats the truth. i was so frustrated i actually broke my scale from throwing it down the stairs. as long as you are doing all you know to do, until you get good restriction its gonna be a challenge. hang in there.
  19. thanks so much!

Ok so my new goal was to be in a size 14 by feb 14th. I decided to go to the mall this weekend and pic out something cute in a 14 to see how far i had to go. well lo and behold everything i tried on was 14's and they fit!!!! I was soooo shocked! no spanks, no girdles, just me!!!! wow i'm starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel and believing i can make my goal of a 12 or 10 in one year! wish me luck!!!
  21. i'm right with you i'm almost 8 months out and just within the past 2 months has that gone away completely.
  22. i never look at the needle. my doc numbs the area with a needle that is compressed air. quick pinch and then i dont feel a thing! no pain. my doc does fluroscopy. hope your fill goes well!
  23. me too hummigbird. my band has taken my appetite, now when i do feel hungry is so rare, it's weird. for that i am sooo grateful..my band totally stops me from eating large quantities. so may say my band is too tight, but i like it this way and i'm still gettn in my nutrition. i couldnt image having the band and still be starving. i'm sorry some people have to still deal with that, but i'm a slow loser...so i guess i cant have everything! LOL!
  24. fickle is my band's middle name. i just gave up eating in the morning. around noon i can get a few teaspoons of yorgurt down and the evening is hit or miss. i'm not starving so i'm fine and the weight is coming off. i try to make sure i stay hydrated. i've had 5 fills and 2 unfills so i'm sticking with this fill. i thought my band and i were both crazy but i see it's not just us! LOL. the weather, stress my cycle all affect my band.
  25. people can be so ignorant!!! ugh!! glad we're doing this for us and NO ONE ELSE!!!
