My journey- 5 days post op
Sarah, Sounds like you are on the same track that I was on. But don't worry, it gets better by leaps and bounds day by day from here on out. Congrats on the weightloss already. You are doing AWESOME!

A word about stalls-losing pounds and sizes
I know it's hard - believe me, I KNOW! But, try not to compare yourself to others. Remember, this is YOUR JOURNEY. Talk with your surgeon and see what they think about your weightloss so far. If you must compare, try to do it as % lost. Did your friend have a lot more to lose.

Am I the only one wanting sweet liquids???
Whew! Good to know that I am not alone. I keep reading out here so many experiences where people thought things were too sweet. I'm like too sweet??? Is that even possible? :tongue_smilie:

Am I the only one wanting sweet liquids???
I've read a lot of you talking about your liquids being too sweet. I am just the opposite - I want, no crave, sweet liquids. Tea sweetened with Sweet-n-Low, drinks with Splenda, etc. Am I completely weird? (Well, maybe don't answer that question. :tongue_smilie:) Anyone else find this to be true?

Length Of Hospital Stay???
I did not stay overnight which was fine with me. I had the option of inpatient or outpatient (with my surgeon's personal cell phone number). I would not recommend outpatient unless you have someone to stay with you and help you out. Good luck!

First "dining out" experience, since sleeve...
We had a friend over for dinner last night. He did not know about the WLS. I started panicking because I know the ridiculously small portions I eat. So, I ended up telling him. He was so great about it - wanted to know the details & said that he could tell I'd lost weight. Whew! What a relief. Maybe telling my friends won't be so bad. Now, telling my mom???? That's another story. :thumbup1: I will see her in the summer so I have some time to decide how to handle that one.

So happy for you. I did chili on my first day out too!

what size bougie, and amt loss you have
This is really good advice. It's your body. You need to understand the ifs, ands, and buts. You need to trust your surgeon and be comfortable with the decision. Let us know what you decide.

When did you/could you get a full massage after surgery?
I have regular massages for my knee. They work on the knee, hips, shoulders, and back since My knee seems to throw things outta wack. I'm not totally comfortable with laying on my stomach at 3 weeks out, but it's getting better. My knee has really been bothering me, so I made an appointment for next Friday. My doctor didn't give me any advice for when I could go back (I guess I should have asked) ... but I am going to try. I figure if it gets uncomfortable, I can just ask to shorten the session. Since we are a few weeks apart, maybe you should call your surgeon and ask. Best of luck - back pain is no fun.

Newbie - Made my decision
A big welcome to both of you. The first few days, I wondered what have I done. But, then the recovery really speeds up. I'm on soft foods now & the restriction/lack of hunger are unbelievable. What a great tool!

what size bougie, and amt loss you have
From what I was told, a 36 ensures that you can swallow pills and gives enough room for a scope should they need to look. Also, the boughie is only the size of the tube they put down to guide the suture line. If they don't go up close on the tube, you aren't going to have that size. Make sense?

Should I have high expectations?
First of all, welcome. I'm sure that is possible. One person lost 53 pounds in 7 weeks and recently posted her success.

Really frustrated with surgeon
You've been given some great advice above. I don't have anything to add except to say that I am thinking of you. I'm so sorry you are going through this. It's enough to be having issues with your sleeve - it's totally wrong to be treated this way. We can send bad vibes his way for you!

Total attention whore post Before and after
You look awesome. I showed pictures to my husband - he can't wait for my weightloss phase to be over. (I'm trying to believe he was just thinking of me thin & not looking at how smokin'hot you are! LOL)

Week of February 8th ... join me?
I had a 36. 40 isn't that much bigger to make a difference. Glad to hear that you are progressing well.

Lemon........
I was allowed to sqeeze lemon juice into water and decaf tea since day 1 of surgery. Are you planning on just using the juice or taking in pulp too?

Help I'm in pain.
Have you tried something simply like a heating pad? Another option is Massage Therapy. My husband had a sciatic issue with his shoulder and it helped tremendously. Some insurance companies even cover it (usually if you have chiropractic coverage, you have massage therapy coverage). I also have regular MT for my knee. I am a firm believer in MT after seeing it's results. Good luck - hopefully you can find some relief.

Mexico or Bust!
Thinking of you. Let us know how you are doing once you are feeling up to it.

Coffee... How Naughty, Really?
I so want to add caffeine back in ... but I am going to hold strong (barely!) ... I might try to add it back in around 3 months out. But, don't worry. Your secret is safe with me!

How are you feeling now?

Today is the day!!!!
Best of luck for a successful procedure and speedy recovery. Update us when you feel up to it.

That feeling of fullness?
Sury - What kind of liquids are you trying. Plain Water doesn't go down well for me. I've done Crystal Light, Kelloggs Protein Water, etc ... but my all-time favorite is warm decaf tea. I have no idea why, but it seems to go down so much easier and the warmth just feels good on the inside. At this stage your hydration is your #1 priority - suck on sf popsicles, try the tea, or maybe even a squeeze of lemon in your water. If you aren't able to drink tomorrow, you should probably call your surgeon and seek their advice. You do not want to be dehydrated. We'll be thinking of you.
