  1. When I woke up this AM I realized that I lost another lb. That makes 28lb's in all. I will ask my Dr. about the Metformin, maybe I will start taking it this weekend to allow my system to get adjusted to it. I will be cutting out carbs, only getting them from vegies. And I will up my Water and exercise starting today. Thanks to all of you for your help. This has really been bothering me to the point of tears. I wasn't expecting my weight loss to be so slow or to feel like this on the inside. I truly feel defeated. If this sleeve doesn't work.... I have 61 more lbs to loose, I have to do this.
  2. ok... Im confused. Yes; I was sleeved on 8-31-11 I've lost 26.5 lbs (15.5 since surgery). But more inches than anything. I've gone from a size 18/20 to a 14/16 Dr. says my weightloss "sucks" and wants to me take metformin, it's supposed to help some how. Any one know how?
  3. My Dr. wants me on 500mg of Metformin (sp) to help with my weight loss. Has anyone ever heard of this?
  4. I'm really glad that I ran into this "friendly" discussion on carbs. I really didn't think (pre-surgery) that I would have to worry about this issue after being sleeved. I thought that the restriction would be enough. I realize that I still have to watch my carb intake and that I should probably consider limiting my carbs to 35-40 per day. I always get my Protein in, I use the whey Protein shakes from Wal-mart, 52gram's per serving, but I use 2 servings per day. So on average I get well over 140 grams of protein per day. I don't know if this is good either, but I'm getting it in. I really don't eat bread or Pasta or rice.... I eat vegetables and sometimes fruit, apples are my favorite. The only thing i think Im lacking in is getting enough exercise. I had so much incision pain that exercise was out of the question for me. I will be in the gym next week though.
  5. Cream of Onion Cream of Potato Cream of Brocoli Creamed Spinach All wonderful :-)
  6. Paul, I just want to say congratulations on your weight loss. I'm sure your wife is proud of you, yet struggling with her own diet. The one thing I can say is be fully supportive. I know some previous poster have said that it's your wife's issue not yours but honestly I don't think this way. Whatever you can do to insure your wife's success would be the best approach. If my husban has an issue, our family has an issue. My husband is not an island neither are my kids or myself. We depend on each other. And if one of us isn't successful we rally around with love and support to insure total success of the family. Best of luck to you.
  7. Yes!!! I made it to wonderland today too. Yay!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. I understand completely how you feel. I felt that way for the first 2 weeks. I didn't start to feel normal until week 3. All of you issues seem to be completely normal. I would however talk to your dr. about the acid refulx, If you're getting Fluid in your ears you may need to have s/he take a look at you. And to be honest, in the begining when food would get stuck, It was because 1. I was eating to fast 2. wasn't allowing the time for the food/air exchange. And it did help to drink 1 sip of Water to wash the food down. But this isn't something I do on a regular, only when the food felt stuck in my pouch. Loosing 20lbs is AWESOME... everyone is different it really depends on how much weight you have to loose, and you. Keep up the good work you are doing fine. I felt exactly the same at 2 weeks and had a lot of the symptoms you're having right now.
  9. Well let me tell you.... When I hit the 3 week mark, I didn't move for 2 weeks. Even my Dr. told me that my weighloss sucked. But after reading about the "three week stall" I came to the conclusion that my body was just in shock and needed time to chatch up. I continued with my diet and after 2 weeks and TOM I started moving down again. So dont be suprised if you don't loose as fast around TOM and during the 3 week mark. Keep your chin up, stick with the diet, only weigh yourself once per week and you will be fine.
  10. Congrats!!!! You've lost 15 lb's in 3 weeks that's AWESOME. Keep up the good work.
  11. My surgery date was August 31st and It has been slow for me too. I haven't had much nausea or any wound leakage, however I do have incision pain throughout the day and night. It does make me take pain medication. I must admit in the beginning I did not feel like eating. Now that Im 4 weeks out, Im hungry every 3 hours. Im not sure what to do about this. The scale has not moved for me for 2 weeks. I am completely discouraged and really think I should have gotten the RYN. Im hoping that is only happening because of my cycle (TOM). Otherwise I dont know what Im going to do. I don't want to go through another surgery. But I don't want to be fat either. Even my Dr. say's my weight loss sucks. I have a friend who had surgery the same day and he is down 50 lbs.
  12. I am 4weeks post op. My stall started week 3 and I hope it's only because of TOM. I noticed yesterday that I was in the bathroom quite a bit. So I'm hoping for the scale to move soon.
  13. Yesterday, I tried the boxed mashed sweet potato's by Betty Crocker. It went down very smooth and they were pretty. I would prefer the fresh one, however, I was being lazy and used the boxed ones. It's worth the try, they were sweeter than I expected, but I thinned them out and used soy milk so it wasn't so bad. Hope this helps.
  14. You guys are so right. I know that I should not have eaten it. I am on puree diet, and the NUT gave me a recipe for a pureed cheeseburger. So I got one, only I didn't puree it, I took very small bites and chewed it up until it was liquid and ate really slow. I should have just pureed it like the NUT said. I will not do this again. Although the burger did have tomatoes, and lettuce as well cheese and very little bacon, and it was a very small burger and Yes about 1/4th of the bun.... but I still think that I could have made a better choice. I'll do better next time LOL
  15. OMG!! I went to Wendy's to get chili.... I left with chili and a Jr. Bacon Cheese Burger!!!! OMG I only ate half of it. But it was so good and it stayed down. I can't eat Applesauce, Cottage Cheese, or Eggs.... But a Cheese Burger I can eat. WOW

  17. I was sleeved on August 31st. Im just coming out of my 3 week stall. But Im happy.
  18. AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME!!!! DID I SAY AWESOME!!
  19. Hope you are doing well. Keep us posted.
  20. I wish I had got a vitamix. I got the Health Master. What a piece of junk. Im on my 3rd one. I got it from Bed Bath and Beyond, so they let me return it when I doesn't work. The next time this junk breaks Im getting the Vitamix.
  21. Wow! I think that's great. My doctor said that I should start walking/exercising at 1 week post op. But do what makes you feel comfortable. Maybe you can practice a head of time or just start the walk and go until you feel you can't any more. I agree with yikeit, you should be careful and talk to your dr. about it. Happy Walking!
  22. 2 weeks and 5 day's out and I get hungry, but it's nothing like before when I had a normal size stomach. Most day's I have to remind myself to eat. Sometimes when Im running around, I forget, then all of a sudden the hunger hit's me. But I can handle it cause it's not as bad as before. I agree with everyone that said give your body time to adjust to the change.
  23. What's wrong with me? I've been at the same weight for over a week, I haven't lost another lb. It's been two weeks since surgery and I've moved to the puree diet. I haven't been able to exercise much because Im still having some pain. But I do walk and go up and down the stairs at least 5 times a day. Why am I not loosing?
