  1. Umm.... What... What just happened? I read through some of the posts, but I really think that this is going a bit far. I wasn't asking for a "believable lie".... so who ever said that misinterpreted the meaning of this post. I simply wanted to get some ideas of what I could say if my co-workers ask for a more detailed explanation of my surgery. I WILL NOT TELL A LIE... I will say that I had major abdominal surgery (which is true) because I had digestive issues (which is also true... digesting TOO MUCH food and AF). If they make mention of my weight loss I will let them that I am on a medically supervised diet (that's true too). I don't feel the need to answer a question just because someone asks. Im not depriving people of anything by keeping by business to myself. I am a very private person and that is my right to be that way. I am also a very helpful person, but I don't necessarily have to tell my personal business to do so. If you are different, and want to tell everyone you see that you had WLS or any sordid details of your life, then that's ok.... but my approach is ok as well. So with that being said..... Im done
  2. Thanks everyone for your input. I think I'll just stick to the "major abdominal surgery for digestive issue" excuse. I really don't feel comfortable sharing my experiences and health information to people. Even though the people on my job are very close to me. I love them dearly, I just don't want to go into explaining all the details of my weight issues.
  3. I was sleeved on August 31st. I took 2 1/2 weeks off. I think Im going to push it to 3 & 1/2 weeks. I need more time. But everyone's different. It's up to you and your body.
  4. I've been off work for a few weeks. I'm a teacher and my child attends the school where I teach. Everyone knows Ive been "very" ill. They know that I had surgery. What do I tell them when they ask me what type of surgery I had? Ive tried the " major abdominal surgery" excuse, but I think I need something better..more specific. What should I say?
  5. Tigerliy I wish you the best. I'm glad that you are getting the care you need. I really want to encourage you. I can tell that you are a fighter LOL. You are going to make it honey. We all have moments of regret, but we keep moving forward because we know that the end of the journey will be better than the beginning. Big hug to you.
  6. If the food is too hot or too cold, it could cause it to cramp. Make some temp adjustments and see what happens.
  7. I'm not sure if I'm doing this right but I'm supposed to drink one ounce every fifteen minutes. Which leaves no room for anything else. LOL the pain in the incisions are breathtaking, and my stomach feels like it's cramping sometimes. Im in more pain than i thought id be. Ive noticed that I can drink about one and a half ounce before I get full...super full. And I notice that i don't have any cravings... But I would like a crunchy taco right now, just to have that crunch sensation. I promised my doctor that I wouldn't weigh myself before I see him again. My appointment is on Tuesday. But already I can tell that I've lost some weight, just by looking at my neck. One chin down, one more to go LOL. Getting my Protein in is a HUGE challange. liquid stuff is Disgusting. But... If I mix New whey Protein tubes with Water it tastes like crystal light....go figure. One thing I can't stomach is Jell-o... Ugh gross. But other than this I am doing well. Ready to get some cream Soups cause this broth ain't cutt'n it :-)
  8. Thanks everyone. The surgery went well and I am feeling pretty good. I'm drinking 1 ounce 15 minutes but even that seems like a bit much. I've been walking and sitting in my chair. And I may be discharged tomorrow.
  9. Well I'm at the hospital waiting to get checked in. My surgery is at 7am so they had me come at 5am. I'm really excited and ready to get the process started. Say prayers for me. I didn't get much sleep but I'm Sure I will get enough rest when they put me to sleep. I'm not as nervous as I thought I'd be, but I am ready to get the show on the road.
  10. Im expecting to loose a lot of weight, but must of all I want to be healthy. Please keep me in your prayers.
  11. Im excited and nervous about my surgery date. Just 3 more days to my DreamLife! Im on this pre-op diet and It is the worst!... I cheated one time, I ate mashed potatoes... But I got back on track. Now it's smooth sailing. I can't wait to eat something other than applesauce and broth. But thank GOD I've lost 9lbs already, and I know that Im going to loose more. I think Im making the right decision, and I am so excited to be HEALTHY, and smaller... LOL. Now it's just time to: 1. get the house cleaned, 2. pack up my stuff, 3. pack up my daughters stuff, 4. cooks some meals for my daughter and freeze them, 5. clean out the car, 6. pay my bills, 7. oh... and order my liquid protein. WOW what a list. (am I forgetting anything?!?) Did I mention Im excited? LOL If I could get my fat butt up, I'd be doing back flips. LOL
  12. GOD bless... hope you are doing well.
  13. I have BCN and they are making me wait 6 months to go through a diet/exercies classes. My BMI is 42 and if I loose 15 lbs I'll be under 40 BMI. I have High BP but nothing else. How did you get throught this?

  15. Im totally encouraged.
  16. I thank GOD for your sucess as well. Congratulations! I can't wait to be banded!
  17. Thank you all so much for your input. I will try to get into my Dr. for the initial consultation ASAP. I do want to try an lose something before I go in for my surgery. thanks again.
  18. Um... the whole purpose is to lose weight. I think you missed something.
  19. I haven't been banded yet... but so far I've only told a few people (like4). This is a perfect example of why I will keep my business to my self.
  20. I have a dilemma. Talk to the nurse today and told her that I was still trying to lose on my own and she told me not too. In order to be approved for surgery, you must have a BMI of 40+ or 35 with 2 major problems like high BP or diabetes. Well I only have one (high BP) so if I loose 15lbs before surgery then I won’t be approved. I guess my issue is if they put me on the Pre-op diet, will I disqualify myself if I lose too much? I’d hate to show up for surgery and have them say “sorry you’re not big enough”. Current weight 218.6 Height: 5 Current BMI: 42.7 If I lose 15 lbs BMI goes to 39.8
  21. Heavenlei, you seem to be a beautiful woman, and I know once you lose the weight you’ll be even more beautiful. Your friends and family care for you deeply, but when it all boils down, you are the one that has to live this life. I am in the beginning stages of the “lap band process”. I decided that I would only tell a few, trusted people about the surgery because people mean well but may not be wise. No one is there with me when I don’t have enough energy to do my laundry, go to the park, or clean the house because of this fat body. Do you think they are coming over to lend me a hand? NO! When I go to the Dr. and they tell me that I have an enlarged heart, High BP, and other crap going on because of this fat; is any of them helping me cook, going to the gym, or offering me encouragement? NO!! When I look in the mirror and see these rolls of fat are they there with me? NO! When I wake up 3-4 time a night because I have to pee (pre-diabetic) and I can’t breathe are they there? NO! When I look into my daughters eyes and pray in my heart that I live long enough to see my grandchildren, no one feels that fear but me. So I have to do this for me. Be encouraged Heavenlei, GOD has given you the wisdom to make the right decision.
  22. When I first read the title, I must admit I skipped over it. But after reading your post I must say Congratulations, I am so happy for you and everyone that has lost the weight. I cant wait to lose this weight.
