  1. Congratulations! Isn't great to be a person who loves a sport? You go with all of your races! I'm about 7 months out and I feel like I need to reevaluate what I have been doing lately because I am stalling out due to my own poor choices. Good Luck to you! :D

  2. Hmm...good questions. Let me think....

My favorite thing about my lapband is my weightloss. Although I can pretty much eat anything I want it limits my portion size. (I choose to avoid bread, pasta and limit my carbs.)

I guess my least favorite thing about it is I can eat anything I want , meaning it is not a magic pill and I still work my ass off to lose the weight. Working out has been an enormous help. I still have my favorite foods in moderation and make sure I up my workouts that week to compensate. It works for me and I don't feel deprived.

I've eaten pizza! Most of the time if I am around pizza, I will just eat the toppings and a small part of the crust.

The worst pain after surgery for me was gas pain, and a super sore throat for the first couple of days. The gas pain lasted a while. Just keep moving it really does help. Also, everyone is different and your experience may be completely different!

Good Luck to you! Congratulations on your new life!

  3. Totally normal! I think I cried the whole first week that I made the wrong decision. Try to get as much fluids down as you can, keep the bottle with you at all times and constantly take small sips. Once you start to see the weight come off you will feel so much better!!! Almost 7 months out and getting banded was the best thing I ever did! Good Luck to you!

  4. Be careful with the working out. I felt good 3 weeks out and my dr. scared the sh** out of me. She said she sees many people who overdo it and then have issues with hernias and such. I walked and started working out pretty seriously at 8 weeks. Best thing I have ever done for myself. Now I am obsessed! For the first month or so I was miserable. Not losing and hungry. Definitely hard to get through but so worth it now. Good Luck to you! :D

  5. I decided to have the surgery for my son, so I totally get your motivation! I had no issues with insurance because my bmi was so high (i guess it is good for something  ) I had no other medical issues. I am six months out from surgery and loving life! I have found the blogging a good way for me to organize my thoughts and get my feelings out. It helps me tremendously. Good Luck to you! :D

  6. That is so great! So exciting! But I totally know how you feel! I was just telling a coworker that sometimes I feel so good after losing 90lbs that I forget i'm still fat. I wanted to where a sign around my neck that says - I used to be fatter! HAHA!!

Seriously, great job! Such an accomplishment to lose so much weight! Great job!

  7. The heating pad and walking was the only thing that helped relieve the gas pains for me. They will finally go away with time. As time goes on and the pounds start coming off it will all be worth it! Hang in there! Good Luck!

  8. You should try some mushies. I didn't puree anything, couldn't do it. I ate soft scrambled eggs, tuna fish or canned chicken with lowfat mayo, turkey chili, fat-free refried beans with some fat free sour cream and lowfat cheese. Go very slowly and chew, chew, chew. The only time I get stuck now is when I eat too fast. Also, check out the mushie stage recipes thread on here. I got tons of ideas from there. Good Luck!

  9. Hi Tracie,First of all you did good by exposing that behavior about yourself. and also I like the fact that you are acknoledging what is going on with you. So maybe you woulld like to look into (FA)-Food Anonoymous or speak with someone that can help you with the mental side of the weight-loss. I understand where you are coming from. Your doing great, keep up the good work.

Thanks for the tip! I am going to look into FA. I had done OA years ago and hadn't even thought about it for now. Thanks!
