Venting!
Ugh I would be frustrated too. It is wrong to tell you you have been submitted and not have it done. I completed my last step early last week. I am hoping to get approval soon so I can go thru my pre op stuff. It is so stressful waiting. Hopefully it will be done soon.

Carnation instant breakfast.
My surgeon recommends this also due to the vitamins. My nut said though if I was handling other protein drinks well, then I could skip it and use those if I was only going to be on it for 10 days. If for some reason my stage 1 was extended then I would need to go on it for the vitamins. Here's to hoping it is a short time because I hate it.

Protein Fatigue
How low is too low? One thing that may help is for you to plan your meals out to make sure you are getting the protein before the day starts. So you know at breakfast it will be 25gr protein there, you will have a snack of cheese that has x at 10. It is still just a month out. I imagine you are still learning how to eat and if the number is close, I think you will find it will be easier to get the protein in.

why do people hide it?
I am holding off until the surgery is done at this point. I do not want to deal with the negativity that can come up. I am still 4 weeks off so I may end up telling more people as it gets closer to the time. I told my husband it is kinda like baby names. We never shared names until the baby arrived. So many people will say something like oh I knew a kid named that and he was xyz.. Well once the baby is here, those type of comments drop.

First time getting....

I think I have a problem....
You need to eat more. You need to schedule high protein meals and eat them. I would talk to your surgeon to see if they can help you find a therapist that you can afford to get a grip on why you do this. For now eat on a schedule rather you want to or not

Irreversible damage?
I doubt you have done damage. Many people have a hard time getting up to the recommended amount of protein. I do believe in the value of tracking and now that you have seen where your deficets are, use the tool of tracking to help your tool of the sleeve

Finding a good therapist... tips?
I think you are on track to ask the surgeon. Also check on the regional local forums here to see if there is anyone near you that can recommend someone or say avoid so and so.

Telling the kids
I have 4 kids. 12,10,8 and 5. I really do not want to be telling lots of people about the surgery at this time. I do feel I need to tell my kids something before I go to hospital. I am hoping the kids can understand private vs a secret. I do not want to tell them to keep it a secret, but don't want them to blab it at school either. I am worried about me being in the hospital and things not being normal for them as my husband is not great at day to day stuff. I can see my girls being a mess at school and telling the teachers. I wonder if I should put my not wanting to share it aside and tell their teachers anyhow, giving them a heads up. What have others done to help the kids understand.

Swansons infused broths....yum!
I hadn't heard of these before. I will have to look for them. Hot and sour sounds great.

Crappy A#% Friends
I agree with the others, call her and invite her out. Who knows maybe she is going thru something herself.

Need support not doing the right things at 3 weeks pre op
This is one slip up, it doesn't mean it has to mean the end of good choices. You can start now and make different choice rather than having a beer.
-
Any help would be awesome!
Take it one choice at a time. I know when I look at the entire picture 2wks, it gets more overwhelming. When I say for this moment I am going to eat what the dr ordered..

Eating Out Puree Stage
That is a hard restaurant to do even not on purees. I would just sip water or ice tea. I personally would leave a better than usual tip when I am taking up a seat, and not ordering. That is great your friends are supportive. I was filling in my schedule realizing our family tradition of eating out after my sons games will be hard as I will be on purees also.

Losing 11lbs in 3 1/2 days post op normal?
I would suspect some of it is from fluids they filled you with while in the hospital and some is real weight gone. Hopefully you have read here enough to be expecting the 3wk stall that will come up at about 3wks post op. (funny how it got that name) I know I was surprised to learn of a stall so early in the process. Good Luck

Question
I would call the surgeon. I would be so disappointed to be delayed due to something easily addressed.

Found decent protein shot
One suggestion I have without knowing what type of protein is in that shot is with 49gr, drink half at a time. I have been told your body only can process 20-30 gr per 2 hrs, the rest you just waste away.

today is the day
Good Luck You will be in recovery before you know it.

Why am i so hungry? Grrr
I am preop but I know if I go too long without eating, I will feel like I am more hungry, which leads to eating more than I should. Perhaps that 4hr stretch was too long.

phsyc assesment...im scared now!
It really is to make sure you know what you are getting into. This is life changing, permenant process, do you have support. The reason it is likely so long is most include a questionaire of true/false questions that ask have you thought of hurting yourself, do you think about self harm, how likely are you to over report your symptoms, etc Mine was 2 hrs, They gave me 45 min for the questionaire and 1 15 for the meeting with the dr. He filled out the paperwork while we talked and dropped it in the mailbox as I walked out.

when do you get your surgery date?
The office I am using gives you a date the first day you meet with the surgeon. In my case it was also the day of the seminar.

Saw PCP today, Not supportive to go to Mexico
I just love it ( not) when people throw out "I have seen too many complications" but in reality, they may have seen 1 or 2 of the many many that are done there. I am glad you are getting a new dr that will hopefully be supportive.
