  1. Before and after surgery I was drinking 45-60 grams of Protein a day in a powder mix and skim milk (which added more protein as well). Then I found a convenient and tasty premixed Protein Drink that had 20g protein in each drink. So maybe 3 a day. After my weightloss slowed down some I decided I needed to cut my carbs down again like I did for my preop weightloss. I realized that skim milk has 13 g of carbs in every 8oz, and the convenient little Protein shakes had 20g carbs per container! So then I quit all that and tried to do low carb and high protein purely dietwise. But it was hard to get that much protein in like I had done before. Then I scoured the protein aisle at Target and found a low carb Protein shake. 17g of protein and 2g of carbs! I felt like such an idiot because it was probably right in front of my face the whole time. DUHHHH!!!
  2. You are doing great!
  3. This really makes me feel so much better. I have been pretty hard on myself with my weight loss since it came off so fast early on. This week I have stepped up my workouts and I am going back to low/no carb. Will remeasure myself in 2 weeks. (crossing my fingers!)
  4. Preop felt like the longest time of my life. From the point where I filled out my application with the doctor until the surgery it was 11 months for me. If I had lost the preop weight properly and didn't procrastinate then I could have had it done within 8 or 9. But I realize that I usually do everything the hard way. Hang in there!
  5. I had my surgery cancelled at first. I was devastated. I was pretty sick with a bad cold and I pretended everything was ok. I'm glad that they cancelled it now because when I went home my coughing got alot worse and I felt bad for a whole week after. I cried and worried all the time after too. But they will try to get you rescheduled right away. Especially if you have insurance covering it. Insurance coverage is usually issued and valid for a month past the date it was approved for. The doctors don't want any trouble from insurance people either! Good luck to you and let us know how you are doing.
  6. yeah, for sure do not say anything. I started a new job around my surgery and I had meant to have my surgery inbetween ending the first job and starting the next. Then my surgery got cancelled and rescheduled for when I was already at the new job. When I got the new date I just went to the scheduler and told her I was having a surgery soon and I didn't have much notice and they worked around it. I took only a week off and that was plenty, and I have a busy job where I'm on my feet all day. 2 weeks is probably better, but I didn't want to push it. with luck, you can have the interview and it may still take a couple weeks to get into the job anyway! good luck!
  7. LOL! It really is. I really do love to eat. Thank god for the sleeve. Something has to save me from myself!!!
  8. I know my weight totally affected mine. When I was heavier I would just have the image of myself and how horrible I must look and couldn't even bear to mess around with my husband because I was overthinking it from the start. Feeling better now, but still overthinking it a bit.
  9. I still feel that way. But before surgery I would spend tons of money on healthy fruit and veggies and not really finish it, so this isn't as bad. Also, when I am trying not to waste, I make little portions and put them in little tupperware containers, and sometimes I get depressed when I grab one because it's so little. I really think I enjoyed eating alot before. Like a mental bandaid or something.
  10. I got pretty bummed after surgery for a little while. I think alot of it had to do with the crappy weather. It has rained almost everyday this spring to make for the wettest spring ever here in Buffalo. Just so dark and dreary. I am just thankful that we are not flooding and having horrible storms like some other areas. While even a week postop I felt an increase in energy, I got really bummed when I wasn't losing pounds a day. I actually gained a few pounds during my hospital stay from all of the IV fluids, so when I got home the weight just flew off for the first week and a half. When I'm feeling down, I just need to put myself in perspective. Like, look at what I was like last year at this time. Cheer up, things will get better, especially since you can have mushies now!
  11. I get botox every 3 months for migraines. They put 50 + injections in my forehead, back of my head, neck and shoulders. It hurts alot! I wouldn't ever consider that a reward. I'm too shy to go to a spa, but I love the idea of a really nice back massage!
  12. Duuuuude! I am totally doing what you do!
  13. I had a feeling like that postop and I really think it was my drain too. It ached most days but it hurt to touch the area and when I bent or twisted a little. After they took the drain out (which was sucked beyond belief), I felt great.
  14. You are doing fabulous!!!! What will you be like a year from now???
  15. That's good. I have heard that it can take a year after weight loss for skin to fully shrink up.
  16. I am heavy on the bottom too. So far I am losing lots of inches around my waist and hips. My thighs and calfs are super heavy. I hate them. I haven't worn shorts since I was a kid. Forget skirts. I feel so anti-feminine. I wish I could wear a skirt and go out shopping or shorts in the summer. I am looking forward to losing from there... soon hopefully... please!!! LOL
  17. Wow! You are amazing!!! Do you have alot of excess skin? My surgeons asks us in our post op checkups how are skin is and if we are getting sores or other issues from it. He says that insurance will cover the procedure if there is some kind of issue.
  18. You are doing great!!!!!!!! With how full everything makes me feel, sometimes I can't believe that I'm actually losing weight! But all I have to do is look at the piles of clothes that are too big and can't wear anymore for me to remember!
  19. Just keep sipping!!!! It takes a few weeks to be able to drink more than a couple ounces an hour. Once you get to that point things will get easier. Even though I can eat anything now, I still have to split my Protein drinks in early between breakfast and lunch and I won't eat regular food until I'm done with that. Even so, I find that I'm craving protein. I have been snacking on things like tuna, hard boiled egg, and hamburger patty. Not 3 hardboiled eggs like I used to. And just a single hamburger patty is enough to keep me full for a couple hours.
  20. I was such a pop addict before surgery!!! I loved diet coke and dr pepper. After surgery I tasted them and even the taste was different. I love the fizziness, but there's no way I can drink it now like I used to. Maybe I can have a little bit and sip it slow over a long period of time. But after surgery I've just been trying to keep up with my fluids and protein, and I wouldn't waste it on soda unless I was all set on everything for the day already. Crystal light is my fave. I have 10 different kinds and switch it up everyday.
  21. Slow loss is still a loss! My surgeon placed a drain for my sleeve. Getting it taken out was worse pain than anything before that. Ugh, it makes me queasy just thinking about it!! My doctor also fixes hernias and gallbladders during surgery on people who need it. Even 10 years ago, a plain gallbladder removal would require an incision in a zig zag pattern across the whole abdomen if not done laparascopically. So 4.5 inches ain't that bad. And when you think about the crazy surgery they just did with poke holes and cameras, I think it's amazing!! My scars are shrinking, at 5 weeks out they are about 50% smaller than they were. Good luck to you and keep us posted!
  22. Been struggling with stalls for the past two weeks. I seem to lose on one day and then stall for a week or so. I go crazy! So I come on here and read and read and then I feel much better! Thanks to everyone!!!
