I am sitting here literally in tears right now. My surgery is set for tomorrow June 6th at 10:15 am. I woke up last night with a fever and chills, temp 102.3. I am pretty sure the surgery wont continue and my doctor is booked up for months. My journey started a long time ago and required another surgery before this one was to happen. I have worked my ass off for this day and now this. All the hoops and twists and turns, I am just so upset. I know i dont want to be sick before surgery of this type but im just a mess right now. Anyone else had this to happen to them?

Let your surgeon make the decision. Are you sure you are not having panic attacks?? That being said, wrap your head around --it is out of your hands. Let your surgeon know and he will make the decision. If you do have to cancel, your surgeon always has the option of putting you in before others or after others on another day.

Keep your chin up.

What will be will be. You will have your sleeve.

Keep us informed,

Valentina

Yes, maybe he can work you in before someone else. Maybe someone who hasn't waited as long or been through as much as you. I hope so.

OR, maybe he will still be able to do the surgery. You just never know.

Good luck to yousmile.gif

I'm so sorry, I know how upsetting this is. I got sick the wk before my surgery and stayed that was until just a couple days before I had to leave. Thankfully it all worked out for me. I had been researching 7 yrs and I was very ready to get it done.

I hope you get better in time for your surgery. and try not to stress too much. Just let your dr know and he will make the decision based on what is best for you. Good luck and let us know!!

A lot can happen in 24 hours, wait and let the surgeon make the call. I am sure that you won't be put at the back of the schedule, they have to make some consideration for emergencies and issues that pop up.

We all wish you well.

Im so sorry :( Try to get as much rest and fluids in as possible right now. Wrap your self up warm so you can sweat out your fever, and just sleep. I know easier said than done but its the best thing you can do for yourself right now. My surgery is set for Thursday and it may end up being delayed too if i cant get this stupid blood sugar down fast enough.. but im working on it!!

Valentina is right.. what will be will be. I know its hard, I am scared of mine being pushed back too... but in the end the most important thing is your health and you will get your sleeve!!!

Praying for you .. get well!!! :)

BlkMikeG,

I don't know where you are located but my doctor has cancellations each week due to insurance companies changing their requirements or patients changing their minds. Perhaps your doc has a waiting list for cancellations? This would be quicker than waiting several months for him/her to reschedule. I would definately check. Good luck anyway.

BlkMikeG, I'm sorry you're having to go through this. It's so hard when you've done everything you can do and then something like this happens. Like everyone else said, rest, drink plenty of fluids and hopefully you'll be well tomorrow. If not, I too work for a doctor's office and there are cancellations all the time. Not to worry...it will work out and you will have your sleeve.

Best of luck and feel better!

:)

I had my surgery cancelled at first. I was devastated. I was pretty sick with a bad cold and I pretended everything was ok. I'm glad that they cancelled it now because when I went home my coughing got alot worse and I felt bad for a whole week after. I cried and worried all the time after too. But they will try to get you rescheduled right away. Especially if you have insurance covering it. Insurance coverage is usually issued and valid for a month past the date it was approved for. The doctors don't want any trouble from insurance people either! Good luck to you and let us know how you are doing.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
