  1. I find it odd that some must do a Liquid diet befre the lap band and others do not have to do one. I wonder what its based on. I am a self pay and my bmi is slightly lower than what the guidelines require but trust me I am obese. I think it is just my doctor. He has his reasons why he doesn't require it, but I just find this odd that so many doctors require this.
  2. I kknow how you are feelng. I am tomorrow as well. Thanks for the heating pad note, I think I have everything else I need. I am ready and I know we will do fine. If you are on this site you are as prepared as you will ever be. We have a great support system..I want to thank all the bansters who went before me and who have made this process a pretty easy one for me.
  3. Check to see if you can crush your pills. I bought a high powered pill crusher and will put the powder in apple sauce or pudding or maybe water, but often times u have to eat before you take pills. I believe you should alwyas have your stomach coated before meds.
  4. Ccblue thanks for the response. I am scheduled for Wednesday and i am not as nervous as I was but i am a little anxious this morning.
  5. Thanks Reverie. I will see how it goes I get banded Wednesday.
  6. I have a better understanding. Thanks
  7. Has anyone else gotten banded and it was enough to help them loose weight. I don't know why I am feeling this way. Talk to me guys. Yes, I do have fears of vomiting maybe that's why I am convincing myself of this. I just feel having the band in place will be enough. If this does work is this ok? Thanks
  8. My doctor is world recognized for being one of the best. He has not required anything from me. Has this happened to anyone else?
  9. Wow this is interesting.
  10. Thank you for your honesty. You see I was always one of the pretty ones but struggled with my weight to stay at that acceptable weight. I lost the battle recently and I do not like this feeling. I am a self pay and not what most people would deem as requiring wls, but my doctor and I know the truth and this is an option for me so that I do not tilt more toward morbid obesity. I too am tall and carry my weight or should I say I dress to flatter my fat. But I am ready to make the change and go back to that place we both know exist only to the thinner people. Thanks
  11. Can salads go down pretty good. Does anyone out there have an issue with salads. Minus croutons of course. Are there any foods that are usually in a salad I should avoid. I am afraid of vomiting. Thanks
  12. Thank you so much for remembering to come back and give back. I am similar to you and I look forward to getting a grip on my life and food issues. I am self pay and I know this will change my life for the better. Good luck and congrtas....post some photos if you feel comfortable with that...
  13. I am scheduled for 4/13. Good luck to all.
  14. How did your new mate accept the lap band decision to loose weight.
  15. My question is what is the life expectancy of the lap band? Let's say all goes well. Is there a requirement to replace the band at 10 years or 15 or 20? Or is this not a requirement? Just wondering about the life of a band. Thanks
  16. I am interested in knowing what products to use to reduce the scar appearance. I was told It would heal to the size of a small freckle. I do not keloid but I am concerned about what I should do to minimize the scar. I bought some products in anticipation but any information would be helpful. Thanks
  17. I understand about pain relievers. Are there any other pills a banded patient should avoid. I am asthmatic and was given a prs for steroids today. I would only need the steriods for 6 days if i take them. I have opted for an inhaler. Are steroids ok for banded patients. Is the only concern pain killers what about arthritic meds such as anti inflammatory. I am not a big pill person but I an concerned. I am scheduled for next week and I bought a pill crusher, the one used by pharmacist, for any pills I may need after being banded. Any input will help. I am sure I will have a few questions this weekend before my surgery on Wednesday. Thanks
  18. I am scheduled for Lap band next week. While excessive chewing isn't a bad thing. Will I have To continue this type of chewing once I get passed the 4 To 6 week liquid, soft, mush food stages. I guess my question is to all the lap band patients more than 6 months post op or more than 1 year post op. How do you consume your meals. Thanks
  19. Please advise what a person can take instead of NSAIDS...Thanks
