  1. I also had mine glued, as described on one of the posts above, however there were stiches as well, they were clear stiches and internal. The surgeon placed small tapes directly over the incisions and then a bigger white bandage over that. What I removed first was the biggers squares and the little clear tapes stayed there for about 10 days. ( no visible stiches)
  2. hi Berry and SweeTHEARrt, I had surgery and about 3 days later I removed the bigger bandages from the top of the incisions. My doctor used small pieces of clear tape under the bigger bandage. What the nurse told me is NOT to pull any bandage that is firmly placed on the skin. She said it could force the stiches. Make sure you keep the area dry after the bandages are removed. I always dried mine with the blow dryer after showering, just to make sure I was safe. If you choose to blow dry yours keep the blow dryer within about 1 foot distrance so that it does not get too hot on the incisions. Call your surgeons to clarify any questions. And hang in there, the first week was very hard for me, but I did it !
  3. I was banded on February 7, 2007. My doctor fixed my hiatal hernia at the same time I was banded. Most importantly, he was honest enough to bill me only for the band and submitted the hernia to the insurance company. At the end I just paid 5.500.00 for the banding. ( I was self-pay for the band)
  4. I would suggest that you contact your surgeon immediately.
  5. StephC.... I would have said: NO I AM NOT PREGNANT, WHY? ARE YOU THINKING ABOUT GETTING PREGNANT?
  6. Hi Cindy, I had my surgery 4 weeks ago. The first week you need to recover, there is lots of stomach swelling that you really do not want anything else other than liquids. Broth with a little bit of fat free cream of chicken was heaven for me, that is what i craved. I started feeling dizzy and weak around day 3 so my doctor allowed me to have either fat free milk or soy milk ( fat free, sugar free). Do what you doctor tells you, if you start feeling weak call his office and ask you could add this or that, talk to them. You will be fine. Where is your surgery?
  7. Hello.... After 3 weeks of surgery I am heading back to Dallas for a follow up with the doctor. He did not tell me if I am getting a fill ( probably still too early). I have not lost an ounce this week. I probably need to eat less and exercise more. Audree.... I can't write you messages, it says your mail box is full.
  8. I have had the same fears. I even made an extra life insurance just in case I died. The surgery went extremelly well and I am happy I was brave to do it. If I can do it ( with all my anxieties) anyone can do it. We can die on traffic, everything envolves risks.... Anesthesia drugs are safe nowadays and mortality risks are minimum, especially with laparoscopic procedures. Follow your dreams !!!!!!!!
  9. I am on day 7 post-op and already starting to feel hungry. My stomach growls and I just ignore it if I had proper nutrition. The first 3 days I got very weak and light-headed. I also had the shakes because my blood sugar dropped to 67. I have been drinking 1/3 of a cup of fat free milk or fat free soy milk and that brings my blood sugar back to normal, calms down my stomach until the next meal. I am not able to eat more than 1/3 of food yet. I am not counting my calories but i am probably eating about 600 calories a day.
  10. It was a success !!! no bad reaction from anesthesia, great staff, surgery went smoothly. I had a hernia repair too.... BUT the pain................. Lord, help me!!!!!!!! I can barely breath, I am on on liquid lortab. my tummy is puffy from the gas, it looks like I am 7 months pregnant. I can feel my stomach, woke up crying " my stomach" !!!!!!!!!! I am scheduled to fly back on saturday... I do not see how I will make it - I will probably have to stay here for a week. Each patient is different, I have heard of people driving on the second day. Maybe this is because of my hernia repair.... I have never experienced so much pain in my life. :omg: Luciana Jellie Bellie
  11. Also.... I do not have Northern European blood, my ancestors are Portuguese and Italian and I was born in Brazil.
  12. I also have celiac disease and will be getting my band on Feb 7, 2007. I am borderline celiac, it happens only when I am under stress. I am having a crisis right now.... I wonder why ( 10 days before surgery)
  13. Hello guys, I live in Cary, NC and I am having my surgery on February 7th in Dallas, TX with Dr. Marsden. Let's keep in touch. L. Nielson
  14. I am also to be banded. My surgery is scheduled for February 7th is Richardson, TX by Dr. Marsden. I am excited but at the same time scared of the process, specially of possible complications during and after surgery. I am such an eater, my goodness !!! No wonder I gained 70 lbs in the past few years.... I am now 193 lbs and need to loose 70 lbs, I hope Lap Band works for me, my appetite is so intense, maybe I can have the doctor stich up my mouth too... Just kidding... Everything sounds good for me, from Indian to Brazilian food but it is time to shed the extra weight and feel good about myself. Good luck to all of you having the surgery.
  15. Sophorosyne, I also had the "last supper syndrome" for a few days after I decided to do the surgery. Right now I am 3 weeks away from being banded and I feel fine, I am taking time to taste my food and I do not feel hungry anymore. At first I ate more than I usually do and I was choosing high calorie food, which I normally avoid. So my issue because not only portion sizes but quality of food. I probably ate about 6 homemade cookies a day for 4 days, then I felt guilty. Try to concentrate your energy on calming yourself down for the surgery, if you decide to do it, enjoy the flavors of food instead of stuffing yourself with it. I feel so much better after I decided to take care of myself.... My IBM is now 33. I want to be 22. Good luck
  16. Does anyone know of a place just for fills in NC? Thanks
  17. I am Luciana (Italian name) and I live in Cary,NC. I have been through almost every exam to be released for surgery and I have been panicking about the post-op. I am 34, 5'2" and about 185- 195 lbs ( varies) and I need to loose about 70 lbs. I feel very miserable being overweight but fear vomiting and choking on food during the post-op. I have read about people gettting food stuck on the band and having horrible feelings. Does that really happen often? If it does, is it really a choking sensation? I fear I am stopping myself from making a wise decision because of people reporting over-reacting episodes. Did anyone experience depression after the surgery? Luciana
  18. I live in Cary, NC. I am planning on flying to Dallas to get banded but after reading about fills etc I am thinking that probably I need to get a Dr. in NC. Any suggestions of doctors and/or about going to Dallas, TX? Thanks
  19. Gayle, did you get banded with Dr. Benavides in TX? That is exactly where I am planning on going. I am just worried about how I will get fills if I live in NC, I am not sure I understand the entire process yet. I weight 195 lbs right now and need to be 125 lbs... I am a short girl :girl_hug: email me at luciana.germano@hotmail.com Luciana :hungry: Don't know how familiar you are with Highland Park.....when you get to his office you can park on the roof of the little Wachovia Bank on the corner....he's upstairs there....and go in the back door right into the hall...he's on the street end of the hall. Or you can just give your car to the valet at the corner in front of the bank and go in the door next to the bank and up the elevator. Best wishes!!!
  20. I talked to Paloma, the secretary of lapband solutions in Dallas, they seemed to be a very competent clinic in Dallas. Good luck!
